Okay, Chriss is an unrestricted FA next year. SAS do need bigs, but GSW will have TP MLE and could still lure him back. Based on who we got back (a 28 year old center who will never make it in the NBA), I get the feeling this is Pop doing Kerr a solid and where Chriss ends up will be up to him. He went this route before, getting waived and returning. Anyway, don't think it is crazy to think he could be back next year.

Denver ... uh-oh. BTW, Lakers injuries could drop them as low as 7 and a play-in with your very own Warriors.

Aaron Gordon & Gary Clark to the Nuggets for Gary Harris, RJ Hampton & protected 2025 1st round pick. Denver just got serious!!

Am I crazy for thinking Poole has some fringe (not a tremendous amount) all-star potential?

I know we're all supposed to be conservative here, but he's putting up nearly 25 pts per 36 on 63.6% TS on a pretty crappy offensive team. He's also showcased playmaking chops - he was running PNRs with Draymond like Steph and led to Draymond dunks and Wiseman dunks. He's getting to the line somewhat (0.244 FTR this year) and puts up 3s at a very good rate (9.568 3 pt attempt rate which is higher than Steph's 0.565). He can shoot off the driblle and he can shoot while coming off movement which really raises the value of his shot profile and increases his versatility.

His advanced stats are also elite:

OBPM: 3.4

WS/48: 0.148

ORPM: 4.83

O-LEBRON: 0.96

O-RAPTOR: 2.6

Yes, the defense will probably never be adequate but as he probably transitions to a scoring PG who needs a playmaking forward to play with (somewhat like Zach Lavine), is it crazy to think he could become a really good offensive piece? He is only 21.

Of course, he needs to keep up being near this level of production (expect him to dip a bit from his crazy high level thus far) to be thought of so highly.

Aww, could be smoke screen of course, but it sure sounds like absolutely no trades are happening. We still got the midnight hours (when crazy stuff happens!) and the deadline isn't till noon, but still sounds like nothing major is going on with the roster

Remember unique position Warriors are in: Championship team with 3 HOF players who just added a #2 pick this year and 60% chance to draft #4-#6 next draft. It's an embarrassment of basketball riches. Wiggins and his contract is the price that you have to pay for a. getting MIN pick in the first place and b. bridging the youth gap on the court for the next 2 years (when the youth are great on paper but still suck on the court). It's a high price to pay, but it will likely buy GSW 6 more years of being in the conversation.

I don't see a deal out there (involving Oubre) that really makes more sense than keeping Oubre himself. We could lose Oubre for nothing in FA, but could still retain salary slot with a TPE through a sign and trade. But better, I don't think GSW would mind waiting until the end of the season, see what happens in the playoffs, see how well Wiseman, Poole, Mannion & Paschall develop, see who they get in the draft FIRST. They would be in a much better position to gauge their needs and determine how well Oubre could fit long term. There is a risk for waiting, but at worst it only cost the Warriors a couple 2nd round picks. That's a risk you take to leave yourself more options at the end of the year.

Would love to be a fly on the wall of Bobs office right now. It would be so interesting to hear what their left & right of arcs are for this decision making process. And to understand what factors they use to assess the best course of action.

They got to have something more robust than the trade machine!

I wish Warriors would find a way to trade Wiggins, but his contract is not gonna make other teams want him.

If the Warriors nab the Wolves draft pick and their own, I could see the Warriors just let Oubre walk for the lux tax relief.

If the Wolves pick doesn't convey, then maybe they'll prioritize keeping Oubre.

Still, if Lacob really doesn't care about lux tax, dream scenario of like the #4 and #12 pick in the draft, and re-signing Oubre, and rolling out a roster next year of like:

Curry-Poole-Mannion

Klay-Dlee-Jessup

Wiggins-Oubre-Kispert

Draymond-Kuminga-JTA

Wiseman-Chriss-Looney

Or I guess alternate dream scenario of using Wolves and Warriors own pick to trade up to #1 for Cade, who seems like he'd be the perfect short term and long term fit for the Warriors, and would save some lux tax too.

If we want a chance at the titles in '22 or '23, Warriors need to get better. If Lacob wants to keep his shirt, he probably needs to reduce the payroll. Those two things are pretty hard to do at the same time. I see three paths forward: 1) give up our future draft assets for solid bargain players (or to unload contracts like Wiggins). 2) focus on player development to make Poole, Jessup, Wiseman legit playoff contributors. 3) just enjoy the emotional roller coaster of being a 0.500 team. 3 sucks but it's also the only one with certainty of success. The years when Steph Klay and Draymond were all significantly underpaid were so much easier, but there's no way to rewind the clock and do that again.

I don't want to trade Oubre but I'm seeing that the Pacers are "listening to pitches on Malcolm Brogdon".

Is Brogdon not a perfect fit for the Warriors?

Not trying to burn Lacob's money, but is there a chance he resigns Oubre AND picks up another player (Ball?) if he thinks it gives the W's an excellent shot at the championship? Due to the revenue from the championships (and the combination of Bay Area money and dedicated fans), the W's are worth $5 Billion. I think he understands the increase in team value from championship (before Jordan, no one thought twice about the Bulls, then suddenly the Bulls became a global product, and you know their value exploded), and he also knows that you have to spend money to make money. If the Warriors dedicate 1/10 of their value to player salaries, is that really an unreasonable move? I'm not a billionaire NBA owner, - and I don't even play one on TV - but this seems like an investment I'd make if I were him. I'm also willing to give it a try if LGW can loan me a couple billion dollars so I can run my own team for a few years.

Keep Oubre, pay him whatever Warriors office want, Trade Wiggins in the off season . Oubre defense/energy is awesome, he is an starter not a 6th man.
