The day of reckoning has come. The Golden State Warriors are in New York to face a Brooklyn Nets team that boasts two men who will forever be tied to the Golden Dynasty: Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
Irving was the man who hit the shot over Stephen Curry to seal the death of the 73-win Warriors. Durant was the former rival turned franchise hero who helped the Warriors bury the LeBron James-era Cavaliers forever.
Now, those two living legends have teamed up in Brooklyn, aligned in opposition to the Splash Bros and Draymond Green, in a race for championships in the prime of their careers.
Wait, Kyrie and KD aren’t playing today? And neither are Steph and Klay? They’re all injured??? Wow, okay. Well who is playing tonight? Draymond and — OMG THAT’S D’ANGELO RUSSELL’S MUSIC!!! The former Nets’ star is in back in NY!
As trade rumors swirl around the NBA, Russell’s name has been linked from the Timberwolves to the Knicks. But tonight, he’s the leading Warriors’ scorer (23.8 PPG) and he’s back in Brooklyn looking to lay the smackdown. He led the Nets to the playoffs last season before being sent to Golden State in the KD move.
Also, Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks are not playing tonight, per Marc Stein. #traderelated
Given that second year of Dre's extension is team option and he has sat out more than half this season and probably will sit out more games, what are the chances Dubs trade for him next season?
I guess it would depend on what SF market looks like next year, how spry he looks like in POs this season and if Dubs have something worth giving to Miami (unless Andre forces Miami's hands just like this year).
these are the times I start to consider 30-point rules: if two teams are 30+ points apart after 3 quarters, coaches limited to using their rookies first in the 4th, followed by 2d yr, 3rd yr etc., to field a team. :-)
I kinda like this deal for Memphis. Got a first with Andre, then offloaded him for Winslow. They kept their first and got younger in the process (although Winslow is injury prone).
I think both Andre and the Grizzlies come out as winners here. But the salaries still don't match up (Andre's $17 million vs. Winslow's $13 million), so there have to be more pieces involved that we don't know of yet.
I wonder in retrospect if we keep Andre and then ship him out mid-season for Waiters Island and James Johnson and a young player and or draft pick plus get to keep our 24 pick, if this isn't a wash with the deals involving Russell currently being discussed.
Granted we probably won't see a final iteration until the off-season so there's a good opportunity we met positive value come out BUT with Iggy off the table next year something tells me 2021-2022 is the year the Warriors are setting themselves up to go back all in.
Quite simply, terrible on both ends of the floor. An abysmal 2-of-22 on 3s (9.1 percent). Allowing 49 percent shooting from the Nets. Severely outrebounded (28 for the Nets to 17 for the Dubs).
Memphis has agreed to a deal to send Andre Iguodala to Miami, league source tells ESPN. Iguodala agreed to trade and has agreed to a two-year, $30M extension with Miami.
So I'm an Arizona Cardinals fan (loosely now because I don't really follow the NFL any longer). Every single year I used to ask How the hell are they so unable to defend the opposing team's tight end. Like every game the other teams tight end would have a career game
Anyways that's how I feel about this Warriors team this year. How is it that game Ina ND game out they just can't defend the 3 point line. They are absolutely awful
My people, let us gather together and mourn this lowest point in a season full of low points

Both, Burks GRIII sit,Dubs 30-something points down. Looks like we are going for a lock on that 30th lottery pick-around 16% is it?

Oh, right. Trade deadline is tomorrow at 12pm.
Wait, tomorrow?!
Genuinely curious where both GR3 and Burks are going. GR3 makes sense in Dallas for our second round draft pick. Burks though? Maybe Philly?

Wasn't Evans strong suit coming out of college was NBA ready defense? Wasn't Poole's his outside jumper?

Fitz - We make every team look like #1 3pt shooting team. Nets arent an exception.
Looney just makes winning basketball plays...
Looney the old man on the floor at 24yo...
Loon!
I'm gonna miss GR3. Glad we kept Looney
How much longer are they gonna try to play Evans at PG and Poole at SG before they realize it should be the other way around?
Evans quick to make his presence felt
Lol, we suck
Oh wow that guy that gave David Lee hoof and mouth disease that one year still in the league
First year of me watching Dubs (or NBA), I used to hear Fitz's excuses and go - "oh! yeah, that makes sense'.
Since then every time Fitz comes up with a excuse for Dubs not performing/loosing, it makes me wanna throw remote at the TV.
Unless at least one of Green or Paschall can be a 3pt threat, I'm not sure they will every work together on the floor at the same time.
What does the slogan on the Nets' jerseys mean?
Awesome start ...
Looks like a L in making. So much for DLo revenge game
Feels like a November game with the bricks and the bad defense.
Why couldn't they have held Evans out pending imminent trade?
I ove LOVE the Brooklyn Nets court scheme colors. It makes the players pop out so well on my TV screen (tonight it's the tablet)
Hmm, Iguodala to the Heat potentially? That sounds kinda fun - but I'm not sure I totally get why he'd play for them and not the Grizz
At Barclays, watching Steph warm up. He looks great!
Wow, Warriors holding Robinson AND Burks out because of imminent trades.
I'm sad, I really was hoping we could keep Robinson around
