Here's my hot take on Steph hesitating to deploy the full night-night
The Laker fans at crypto[dot]com arena don't deserve the season debut of that move - he's saving that for the home crowd. Once that's been done, it's open season on putting the kids to bed at any arena.
One incredibly annoying talking point that has appeared offseason after offseason is people posting the few Kuminga workout clips which are usually him dribbling the ball and/or trying to score and criticizing it as "Kuminga focused on developing the wrong things".
Say what you will about Kuminga but I don't think anyone can argue that he currently looks like he was focused on working on the "wrong things" this summer. Please let's retire that criticism for him and everyone else and acknowledge that one minute Instagram highlight reels tell you basically nothing about what a player is doing in their offseason program. Same thing with the comments about Podz at Valkyries games implying that he wasn't working on his game, it's nonsensical commentary.
I’ve questioned his working out with “Who are those guys?/Who’s that coach?” rather than his teammates and coaches. I can see it if truly feels Kerr has been derailing his career, but he seems like he truly wants to make it work with GSW. (Also, I’m guessing as an unsigned FA, he might not have been allowed to this past offseason.)
Can’t they sign Seth to a video coordinator role so that he can sit with the team during games and go in the locker room? And not have to pay for his own tickets?
I was thinking of something along the lines of double secret assistant shooting coach, but I think any sort of staff role would be considered salary cap evasion, even if they paid him only a token dollar.
An exhibit 9 contract would be great to get him access and travel, but they're prohibited during regular season--any player on an ex-9 automatically is converted to a vet min deal.
Oh... come to think of it I think you are correct. They have to buy tickets for family and friends. But y'know, somehow I think Seth can afford tickets for the games he wants to attend for a month. Maybe big brother would even sport him a few tickets. The bigger expense would be if he wanted to attend road games.
At any rate, Pulling is right that any staff role would look like (and arguably be) salary cap evasion. That would be a really bad idea, especially given the Clips situation.
Had the thought that maybe he doesn't want to be sitting in the stands at road games--never know when some fuckwit "fan" will go after steph by having a go at seth looking vulnerable. Anyways, maybe we'll see him sitting near the bench thursday hosting the stiffs.
Overshadowed by JB's 16/16 FTs was Steph's 8/8 FT that he received in the flow of the game. Scary thought for the league if he gets this friendly whistle for the season.
Curry and everyone else benefits from Butler getting the team into the bonus more, in that sense Butler's on/off can obscure his impact because even when he's not playing there can be guys reaping the benefits of his play.
2 of those FTs were from marcus smart trying to dislocate his shoulder. I'd prefer that didn't become a regular thing with teams trying to kneecap steph. I so wish the team had a widebody enforcer. Yeah, dray plays the role but he doesn't actually injure people to the point they miss games, and is a marked man as far as the officials and league are concerned. Find somebody mean and scary in the euro-leagues who will apply bogut-style retribution to those cheap-shotting steph.
Thing is, TJD isn't scary, either in physicality or demeanor. Now maybe he is a bad man and is just keeping his head down due to being at the edge of the rotation, but to be an enforcer ya gotta make some bones.
Not condoning "Breaking the code" but I am concerned about 'The Curry Rules', both from the officials who turn a blind eye and the players who cross the line.
I'm glad the Warriors pissed you off after they asked for your okay first, KD. Wtf.

[Capurso] Kevin Durant: "So you doing business behind my back, backdoor s--- like that—It just didn't sit right with me. So I just wanted to wash my hands of both of those teams, the Warriors and the Suns. Because I didn't like how they did business."
So Durant stayed put in Phoenix, then this offseason returned to the state where he played his college basketball. It was a change of scenery with a brand-new organization.
And that seems to be by design. Durant, in an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated, explained why a new destination like Houston appealed to him more than franchises such as the Warriors and Suns where he had history.
"And I love Steph. I love hooping with Steph," Durant told SI. "And I really thought about going back to the Warriors. But it was a certain part of me that just didn't like that this last little phase of my career was gonna be—where I was gonna play was gonna be—that these owners was just gonna work behind my back to make that decision for me.
"I didn't like that part of it. And I felt like I worked my way up in this league and put a lot of sweat equity into my name and my game, or the respect or the brand that I've created. So you doing business behind my back, backdoor s--- like that—It just didn't sit right with me. So I just wanted to wash my hands of both of those teams, the Warriors and the Suns.
"Because I didn't like how they did business."
Durant went on to note that he did appreciate one gesture from Golden State.
"I do appreciate, actually, the Warriors coming to me before they actually made a move and asking me, 'Did I want to be a part of it?' But I just didn't like how they all formed," Durant said. "So, I just wanted to wash my hands with that and move on. Houston was the team that really respected me, respected what I bring to the table and wanted to make this work. So, I'm excited about it.
I think we ended up with a good culture fit in Butler and Houston ended up with a pure basketball fit with KD. And none of the aforementioned teams had to give up the bank to get their superstars. Id say congratulations to all for doing their due diligence.
To be fair, I think he’s saying that the Warriors asked for his okay second. He wanted the Warriors to tell him “hey we want to trade for you” before they started dealing with the Suns, rather than being surprised by it after arrangements had been agreed on.
The Warriors could have asked for and gotten permission at the start of discussions with the Suns to talk to Durant and have him in the loop first. Or maybe the Suns didn't want that. But it could have been worked out that way without tampering.
Tomorrow we have to play against an already good Denver team that improved in the offseason . . . But tomorrow we don't have to play against Marcus Smart . . .
After only four teams playing on opening night, there are 24 teams (!) playing tonight. That leaves just the Pacers and Nuggets who play their first games Thursday (the latter against us). Some good games tonight, including Cavs/Knicks, and... well there's Spurs/Mavs that could be pretty entertaining and... yeah that's basically it.
That was an entertaining game, especially, since we won 😊! However, I’m concerned how we got blown out in the paint (62-36 points). We were fortunate that our threes were going in (17-6) and our FTs (26-17 points) were almost perfect. We will need better rim protection, especially, against the likes of Denver, OKC, and Houston. Also, keeping our old starters’ minutes to 30 at the most would be ideal. Butler worked his butt off last night, which he probably won’t be able to sustain every game.
Minor detail question, did anyone see Seth at the game? Was he in da house? I know we can't sign him til Nov 12, but until then can he hang on the bench during games, or would he have to sit in the stands?
In the 69 games the the Warriors have played the Lakers since Curry's rookie season, the Warriors are 12-3 in the 21.7% of the games in which they attempted more free throws than the Lakers (including 2-0 in the two games since Butler arrived).
And the Warriors are 6-19 in the 36.2% of the games in which the Lakers attempted 10 or more free throws than they did: https://stathead.com/tiny/SaJFa
Podz saying out loud that he wants to be better than Steph is certainly a choice. But who can blame him though?
"Podziemski praised Curry’s sustained greatness and discipline entering Year 17 but admitted few players truly want to chase that level. “Some people say it, but not everybody wants to,” he said. When asked if he does, Podziemski replied, “I want to be better than him.”

Do you question Steph when he works out with Brandon Payne — his guy — not coaches or teammates?
No one questions Threesus. Infallibility and all that.

I think the poor man can afford to pay for his own tickets for a few weeks. But for all we know he is getting comps.
Thought players weren’t allowed to receive comps

TJD can be our designated goon. He jumped right in on Sengun last year in defense of Spencer.
Thing is, TJD isn't scary, either in physicality or demeanor. Now maybe he is a bad man and is just keeping his head down due to being at the edge of the rotation, but to be an enforcer ya gotta make some bones.

He'll be alright. Smart wasn't playing any special "Curry Rules" he was just playing his usual reckless style.
The main thing the NBA can do to protect Curry is to get rid of the high five rule, we'll see if they actually do that.
The play last night wasn’t reckless, it was dirty.

Wild comment. They asked for permission. If he wanted to be warrior he would be a warrior. It's that simple.
Not something worth getting upset about imo
Jimmy is better now anyways. A better fit too.
KD often complains about how he’s not treated right. He seems such an insecure person.
I think we ended up with a good culture fit in Butler and Houston ended up with a pure basketball fit with KD. And none of the aforementioned teams had to give up the bank to get their superstars. Id say congratulations to all for doing their due diligence.

That would be tampering if the Warriors FO asked KD about getting traded to them.
The Warriors could have asked for and gotten permission at the start of discussions with the Suns to talk to Durant and have him in the loop first. Or maybe the Suns didn't want that. But it could have been worked out that way without tampering.
Also, I’m sure interest could’ve been leaked to his agent through back channels fairly safely

Divide by 2.
Multiply by 1
square the square root
Raised to the 0! power
(e^(iπ))+2
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You know what I mean. Fixed anyway.
Yo! Always awesome E1P! I am ecstatic unreasonably so!

Would have to sit in the stands. But this period before he signs would be a great time for him to spend with his family instead.
My guess is that he was a guest in MJD’s suite.

Need a PSA before these kinds of stats. I already feel sick and reading this does not help...
Can you guess the last Warrior before Jimmy to hit 16 or more free throws in a game at a 100% clip? See: https://stathead.com/tiny/wRET5
All Warriors players who ever hit 16 or more free throws in any game at any percentage: https://stathead.com/tiny/fb1yE
Other than Jimmy (twice), only Steph (once) and KD (once). have done this from the start pf the dynasty years until now.
Well, if they actually called all the fouls on Steph ...
In the first quarter they denied him continuation on a foul, and I was like, “Ohhh yeah, this thing that drives me completely nuts! I almost forgot."
Podz saying out loud that he wants to be better than Steph is certainly a choice. But who can blame him though?

I certainly won't blame him for it. You want your guys to be reaching for the stars and Steph is the brightest star out there
Some things don’t need to be said out loud
we all want lots of things, Brandin
So do I.
