"I imagined them taking weeks to approve a video while Legal checked whether we would be sued by the makers of Magnum P.I."
Mr. Apricot, Magnum P.I. owes its sudden surge back into relevance entirely to you! We'll know they understand this when they offer to license the theme to The Warriors so it can be played inside Chase Center every time Spencer does it again.
Congratulations Eric! As someone who rarely comments, I just want to say thank you! I started watching your Explain One Plays in 2015(?) on GSOM and you have helped me develop from a fan of Steph to a fan of basketball. It's much more enjoyable to watch a game knowing a little something. Thanks!!!
I’ve only heard some indirect stories. I heard someone showed Steve Kerr the video clip where I diagram how Moses Moody was boxing him out from attacking a ref and that he really enjoyed it
Hey now, facetiousness and sarcasm are different. It's sort of like calling a field goal a free throw; both are shots but they're not the same. In this case, facetiousness is funny, while sarcasm is uncalled for. And you were (I think) being facetious.
So there. Take that. 😉 😆
In my defense, I'm a long-time magazine editor. I usually show more restraint here!
Congrats! And, if I may, may I say that the world "should" work this way. Someone expresses their art/talent out of love and their ability is recognized and rewarded. I hope this turns into something tangible and interesting for you, you have earned this opportunity with your passion for warriors basketball as expressed in your E1P videos.
Eric Apricot!!!! OUR Eric Apricot?! Congratulations!!!
As someone who only got sucked in to watching professional sports a few years ago (start of the 2022 post season was a hell of an introduction) - I can confirm that my understanding of the game was for sure established through E1P videos. Which increased my appreciation and enjoyment of the game! And I think it really protected me against falling for all the rage-baity claims that are, seemingly, everywhere around sports.
So. Maybe not your original or primary intention. But E1P gave me a bubble of joy to learn the game within and taught me how to call bullshit on the blowhards and protect my peace which as made being a sports fan a lot more sustainable and appealing.
So. Thank you for that. And I am so happy to hear that your approach to this is being valued in its own right.
The monkeys see that show every day. (Hmmm... do they watch film with their coaches to refine their game?) But the Costa Rican park service might like clips for their visitor centers.
And to think, we watched your E1Ps before you were world famous. Now when people think of the Dubs, they'll think of Steph and you! (Kerr, Draymond, JB, and those other guys are okay but DNHQ's Apricot is the real deal.)
OMG! OMG! OMG! This is so freaking fantabulous! Congratulations, Eric!
I have one question: do you still own the copyright to your pug?
whoa this is sick, so well deserved!

Playing the theme for Pat at Chase would be very cool! Of course you have to watch E1P to get the reference.
The little 3 image* 1 second* montage speaks for itself.
(* approx). Would be awesome on the big overhead screens

old school!!
Have you been able to tell if any of the coaching staff or players have seen your E1Ps?
I’ve only heard some indirect stories. I heard someone showed Steve Kerr the video clip where I diagram how Moses Moody was boxing him out from attacking a ref and that he really enjoyed it
Some of your very best work!
Eric ... after you've had a couple of months on the job, you need to start angling for a DubNationHQ lair at Chase.
Or maybe at the practice gym. That way we can all tell Steve what he's doing wrong in person.
( /s before anyone starts typing a 1000-word rejoinder )
I think that qualifies as facetious rather than sarcastic.
Everybody's a language wonk. :)
May the participle bite you in the nether regions.
< just kidding >

OK, fair.
/f it is.
congrats Eric!
time to go meta and do your night night of Steph’s night night!

Thanks for the beautiful words, and that “bubble of joy” is a big part of why I do what I do
Congrats Eric! I can only dream of being contacted by all the monkeys I film for a collaboration.

You've trademarked "Looney Looney", right? Nice work EA.
And to think, we watched your E1Ps before you were world famous. Now when people think of the Dubs, they'll think of Steph and you! (Kerr, Draymond, JB, and those other guys are okay but DNHQ's Apricot is the real deal.)
Could not happen to a better person! Whatever the run ends up being, I hope you enjoy it and I'm excited to get to watch!
Congrats Eric! This is wonderful news.
Congratulations!!
This is so cool. Congrats Apricot.
But I think this all about them getting their hands on APRIBOT 🙂
