Does anyone know what coach is promoting the arms flared back defensive body position in the paint? I always thought it was a perimeter stance to try to cut off passing lanes and prevent rip through fouls. But both Wiseman and Wiggins used it in the paint to closely watch uncontested 6’ pull up shots by heat players. There’s no way that’s a natural instinct so it must be one of the coach’s pet project?
Both Wiggins and Wiseman were in the paint backpedaling towards the restricted area and the shooter was inside the paint on both occasions as well. On the first one it was during Wiseman’s first stint & I just assumed it was bad Wiseman pick and roll coverage because he put his hands down after that when the shot went up too. But then later I saw both Wiggins and Wiseman doing that again against a drive on the same play and realized that has to be being asked for.

Great as always Mr Apricot! I'm curious what the stats are (ppp or other metrics) when steoh runs PNR with various partners. I'm assuming he has by far the largest sample with draymond but it's different when he runs it with a scoring threat like klay or KD. Maybe we'll see some steph/poole pnr this year even?
Haha, thanks. Every team has at least one advance scout who goes to opponent games and gives a detailed report on every play they run, so they have no need for my services. And the joy of the Warriors system is there is so much read and react that it doesn’t matter as much that opponents know the plays.
I recall a past Explain-one-play
Showed a similar setup with Klay
Ah, YouTube still keeps track
'twas from 10 months back
And still excellent viewing today:

Ha, I was actually looking for that myself. And failed to find it, which was a reminder that my E1P indexing has fallen into disrepair
I can't explain a single play,
My analyses are hazy.
But thankfully, our Apricot
Posts videos like crazy.

I never know when it is Horns,
Or Klay Play, or Head Tap.
Although I've tried to get them straight,
I still just don't know crap.

But one thing that I can tell you,
And can do it in a hurry,
Is "No one ever lost their job
For sticking with Steph Curry."

So thank you, Eric Apricot,
All-knowing b-ball fool,
For helping us know Steph and Klay,
(And Wiggs, and Wise, and Loon, and Dray)
And bad man Jordan Poole.
👏

Any examples? A 6' pull-up would be inside the dotted line/lane... so maybe you mean floater/flip shots? Or pull-ups further out?

Eric, have you ever considered adding a tag line?
You know, something like:
"EA, if it's in the game, it's in my brain."
I promise this is completely original.
I was thinking instead at the end of every video I would say "play station" in a mechanical voice

The best part of any Warrior win. Thank you, Eric.
The amazing thing to me is how you're able to make a plausible guess as to what the players/teams are thinking and how they're adjusting. First rate.

This must be required viewing for all who would challenge the champs. If Eric should disappear someday Steve Kerr will be arrested…

Can you do an E1P about "Waiting for Godot". I never fully understood that play. Maybe in the offseason.
ooooo… if I weren’t so exhausted by the time April Fools Day comes, I might try something like that
The Hamlet E1P is my personal favorite.
I think Something Rotten does a decent job. Its obviously about omelets.
Alas…
With one of DNHQ's own (pooryorick) featured prominently. It was quite a skull session.
Great E1P/medical analysis.
