Thank for all of the EOP posts, back there, and now over here. I've appreciated them and learned from them.
What viewing tool do you use while putting these videos together? Or even a step back. How do you watch the games? Here, even though we have great fiber internet connectivity with Sonic, I keep a Comcast account and a TiVo equipped with a cable card. I haven't seen anything other solution that comes close to duplicating TiVo's smooth, instant, controlled access to forward, back, slow motion, etc.. It would be sad if I had to switch to watching the games via streaming.
The answer is complicated, but for most games, I just watch it on Sling TV on my devices. This doesn’t give me ANY rewind, etc, which is extremely bad for analysis, but good for me just enjoying basketball. Sorry I don’t have something more clever. I used to use PlayStation Vue which was pretty TiVo-like, but I had some issue I can’t remember... I think it was hard to capture the video on a Mac.
When I put the video together, I either capture from NBA League Pass, or Stats.NBA.com play by play, or if I’m in a real rush and League Pass has an obnoxious post-game blackout, I use some YouTube highlights package (hello FreeDawkins).
Yeah, I really love the extra analysis you put in text next to the video whenever there's a new-style E1P video nowadays, so I would be cool with that, or more of that. And you generally have pretty insightful commentary along the way during games. I try to catch those things too but my eye for basketball plays is still much less practiced than yours.
I'm famous! Lol thanks as always for actually listening to input, it's extremely appreciated. Not gonna lie got a little fangirly seeing my name in the article teeheehee
I just watched your klay37 vid and I absolutely love it. Don't know how many times I've rewatched the game feed from that quarter, but to have the commentaries from the players over top was amazing. Top work Eric!
I lived the text heavy stuff, but the newer video format with the drawings works very well also. Just keep doing whatever you most enjoy!
Yeah, the Klay 37 was clearly a labor of love--and I loved watching. In fact, think I might watch it again...
But you should do one for each of Klay's nuclear-hot games, do the Steph-heave compilation, a Draymond defensive master-class video or, if you can bear the discomfort, a retrospective on Day Day's 2016 monstrous Game 7 where he aaaaalmost willed us to victory. One on Andre's all-around subtle brilliance or a swipe compilation, and one on KD's insane efficiency (remember the 16 FGA/40 pt game? Of course you do!)
Kind of a signature series of EOP-style videos for each of the Hamptons 5. Just a thought.
This is kind of a cool idea. I want to give the “Their Words” treatment to Bang Bang and OKC Game 6.
For Andre, maybe something on his 2015 Finals? I feel like this series should be about iconic games/moments. So maybe the KD Finals left wing 3s ?
I’m not sure I can really bear to do a close study of Game 7... I did it once to study the High Tag... maybe it will feel nostalgic in the context of this season’s Tank Chess
That'd be fantastic! He has hit some huge heaves thinking back. They always seem to completely change the momentum of the game when he hits them. There was a couple of huge ones against Memphis in the play-offs that stick oh in my memory
Obviously the bang bang game would be amazing as well
Nah, Steph knew he was taking that and making that the moment he got the ball. You can see it in his posture--that calm, utter confidence as he dribbles up and casually shoots from another planet.
Whatever you wanna do, I am gonna dig it. Love the vids because they are digestible. But the old format was way more in depth and most people who did these well stopped or changed their m.o. So I would welcome them back with gusto.

Keep throwing out the great comments, and I’ll be forced to keep shouting you out, sorry

*loved the text heave stuff
I have long wanted to do a video of Steph's heaves so I will take this as encouragement

This would be awesome

Yeah, I’ll do Bang Bang separately. I am not sure that actually counts as a heave

That was a dazzling moment.
True, watching it again it's a straight up jump shot. Bloody incredible

Thanks for the support! I have some non-video articles coming down the turnpike, so this site won't lack for words typed by me.
