UPDATE RE: KLAY

Ok here we go. First game out of next ten is a stinker. Create metrics and then measure them. Keeps you honest.

Dinwiddie's first game as a Laker: (31 minutes)

6 points, 2/6 FGs, 1/5 threes, 1/1 FT

2 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 turnovers, 2 steals, 2 fouls

Doesn’t seem too bad. How was he on defense?

Wiseman's stats vs. Lakers: (23 minutes)

18 points, 8/12 FGs, 2/3 FT

9 rebounds (5 off.), 2 assists, 1 turnover, 1 block, 4 fouls

Suns beat the Kings 130-125. Suns move to 32-22 while the Kings fall to 30-23. Season series between them is 2-2. Both teams will play against each other one last time on 4/12.

So, why do teams that lost in the first round of the IST play an extra game against each other?

Expand full comment

Apparently, Allen committed a flagrant foul type 1 on Fox. However, when he realized that he messed up, he immediately ran towards Fox and tried to soften his fall. Fox didn't suffer any injuries, but he missed both of the flagrant FTs.

That feels more F2 to me, I don't get how that isn't excessive considering G. Allen both pulled Fox down and then had a wind up slap to the face. I don't think he was trying to intentionally hurt Fox, but still.

Expand full comment

Disagree on Allen pulling Fox down. At the 0:09 mark, Allen's face went 😲 when he realized what he did and tried to soften Fox's fall.

Expand full comment

Booker isn't shooting well, but Allen, Durant, and Gordon are. As for the Kings, Sabonis and Monk are playing well, and Fox is having a good (but not great) game.

MEMO RE: KLAY.

TO THE DNHQ-O-SPHERE.

FROM FAN FULL OF DOUBT.

I feel bad about it, but I’m not a believer in Klay. Yes, a good game last night. But in the next 10, do we get 2 good games, 2 or 3 ok ones, and 5 stinkers in which he tries to shoot us out of games? I don’t need Klay to hit every shot, just take mostly high quality shots. Show me that Klay in 8 out of the next 10 games, and limit the pouting , and maybe I’ll come around.

Expand full comment

Agree with this 100%. Kept help but remembering how he shot us out of the Lakers series last year. He needs to be taking like 8-14 shots per game, and 2/3 of those should be wide open catch and shoot 3s, layups, or open mid range, no more off the dribble 3s, tough running 2s, etc. Sorry Klay

Beal played for only 4.5 minutes tonight. He went to the locker room in the 1st Q to check on his left hamstring injury.

Edit: He will not return tonight. Man, this guy can't stay healthy.

67-64 kings up at half over the suns

Suns have played 6 guys. 4 of them are 2/2 and 1/1 from 3. The other two are both 1/3 and haven’t taken a three pointer. I have no idea why, but this oddity is amusing to me

Kawhi out tomorrow. Now let’s not get complacent!

Expand full comment

Oooooooh this is exciting. I never complain when an opponent has an injury. I'm not a monster, I feel sorry for them, but I love it when they are not there.

Expand full comment

I understand that because it helps our chances but at the same time I like to see the top players contend. They're a treat to watch. So I want to demolish Denver with Jokic and Murray, whip the Wolves with Ant Man and KAT, clobber the Clips with Kawhi and PG, larrup the Lakers with LBJ and AD, and maul the Mavs with Luka and Kyrie.

We've got Gui ... I wasn't worried about Kawhi.

< that might be a fib >

IMO, we should be rooting for the Suns to beat the Kings tonight. We can't win the tiebreaker over the Suns but we still can over the Kings. And if Kings lose tonight and then again tomorrow at Denver on the back to back, they'll be at 24 losses

Lol! Dray totally dissing Nurkic for 10-15 minutes and then KD as well for a minute. I am glad we don't have anymore games left against Suns. Some snippets (paraphrased):

- "Little guy"

- "Clown"

- Got traded so that Jokic can be what he can be; Let's get him out of the way of the MVP Jokic

- Traded multiple times (while Dray is 4 time NBA champion and 4 time All-star)

- Getting only 6-4-6 stats in the game including not being able to post-up Steph Curry

- Rolled KD into "clowns" (both these clowns questioning his character)

- Both of them are whack; Questioning his character, costing him his money

- Stands by he said to KD during clipper games years go. "I said we will win championship game w/o you and we did"

I think bit over the top. Giving fodder to folks out there to hate him. But I rather have him let it all out on a podcast then during the game.

This is why Draymond loses me a lot - would be great to just talk basketball instead of taking cheap shots Ir any shots at other active players

Expand full comment

Before all that, he talked a LOT of basketball. He talked about Steph calling for the Oklahoma play, described it sort of detail, then talked about how a Wiggs and JK don’t know the play, so they told them to just go to the corners.

He also talked about Kuminga and how he’s raised expectations for himself.

TL;DR: There was a lot of great hoops talk and inside the game stuff.

Now that the dubs are starting to roll draymond is feeling himself.

I could do without it and can't bring myself to listen to his podcast for the most part.

Expand full comment

It's a continuation of the on court trash talk. It's whatever, imo... we're not really the intended audience for that stuff, it's more for bravado within the NBA player circle...

The nurkic part is fine but going after kd is stupid

The KD one I understand. Dude who you think you have an amicable relationship with goes to the media and says “I hope he gets the help he needs” without bothering to ever reach out to you personally? That’s not cool. Makes KD’s statement an attack rather than a get well wish. Dray’s within his rights to go back after him for that. I wouldn’t have personally, but I don’t fault him for doing so.

Nurkic deserved everything Draymond said. Got flat out dominated in the game and in response goes to the media trying to further harm your reputation and call for you to be kicked out of the NBA? Unacceptable.

Expand full comment

Yeah, I normally don’t care for trash talk, but if someone questions my character, I’ll verbally destroy them with all the intellectual firepower at my disposal.

Expand full comment

The thing that's iffy for me is that they weren't questioning his character, they were questioning whether he'd lose it in different levels of shitty statements. I'm personally fine with talking ish to people.you felt aren't supportive, but this isn't a character or morals question.

Dray's been good since he came back, and has played under control or had people intercede quicker to diffuse. To his merit, he's showing he can change and grow! Someone rudely stating that he was acting erratically beforehand just highlights why he's making those changes.

From my armchair psychologist perspective, draymond inability to acknowledge past actions as mistakes and that's OK is his downfall.

He dissed KD so he "actually" has to "stand on it".

Expand full comment

I still think KD was 100% the problem in that famous dust up.

Expand full comment

I mean… it’s all stupid. There was clearly some back and forth between Dray and KD during the game, too.

I prefer to listen to Draymond talking about basketball.

Dap parity - ha ha haa - sounded like something right out of Cern-language related to spin parity ! that was fun!

Expand full comment

“Parity” in physics has to do with whether a property changes sign when you invert it. For example, if you imagine an x-y graph and a point in the first quadrant and then invert its x-y values by moving it to the 3rd quadrant, then its position has been inverted and this is called “ odd” parity. However if this was a car that moved from the original point to this inverted point, the cars mass still remains the same sign - that’s “even” parity. CERN is where a lot of particle physics experiments happen and parity is one of the properties scientist evaluate.

Yes, I know about CERN. I just didn’t understand where this came from…if it was in reply to some other posting that mentioned dap parity.

Speaking of which, there was a distinct lack of dap parity (e.g. equal daps) after Draymond Green made his long range, three-point shot, body bumped with Steph, then ignored the daps , either the hi-five or the low-five from Podz.

Expand full comment

It’s from the celebration audit in the video. Right after he missed Podz’s high/low fives.
