I feel like for this team to really contend next year, Wiggins will have to be better/do more than Barnes did. He's already a better offensive player and he's shown flashes of defensive skill with his quick hands but jury's still out. I'm certainly feeling much better about the potential than I was day of the trade though...
Wiggins seems like he could be more the wing that the Warriors wanted out of Barnes. Unlike HB, Wiggins seems to have a much more usable 1st step to attack closeouts, with maybe a little better handle and vision to get some assists as a secondary ballhandler on the wing.
But jury's still out on whether Wiggins can (or should) be the smallball 4 that HB was.
Andrew needs to put some muscle on that frame, if at all possible. That would help with the smallball 4 idea. He also needs to crank up the intensity on defense. But when Dray says you can be all-NBA, that's got to mean something.
Agreed. But one thing I've come to appreciate about Barnes since he left is that he is a really steady defender. I don't think anyone else in the league gave KD trouble the way Barnes did the last two years. (Beverley doesn't count.)
Wiggins' offense looks quicker and smoother so far, but even if he keeps playing better defense, he likely won't be a strict upgrade.
Strong work Eric! My vote for good mix between video and didactic text. Keep it up. If Wiggins does as well as you do we will be enjoying your writing around game 92 of next year...
Small sample size but Wiggins is a much better offensive player vs Barnes 2013-2016 and significantly faster. Not quite as tall but seems longer and quicker.

Let’s not forget the max contract! What did they pay Harrison Barnes to stand in the corner

I agree. Commented on the Youtube version of this one, but I feel like I see the game better after watching these E1P vids. Thank you!
