WARRIORS at SIXERS | FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | April 19, 2021
Stephen Curry recorded 49 PTS (10 3PM) for the Golden State Warriors as they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 107-96. Curry has now recorded 11 consecutive games with 30+ points and 2 consecutive games with 45+ points. Joel Embiid tallied 28 PTS, 13 REB and 8 AST for the 76ers.
OPJ is really growing on me. I know this video is from a couple weeks back but some nice passes there. Not to mention the big time three or percentage and a lot of rebounds. Great find and I hope he stays healthy.
OT: All things being equal and almost a third of the season done, how much of a game wins differential is good enough to say that we will have better seed than a team? Let's assume no more injuries on any of the 30 teams and Klay being 80% of his 2019 self by the time 2/3rd of the season is done.
Watched this on YouTube as I've been trying to like and comment over there to see if it'll push you up in the rankings. But I wanted to say 'thank you' here. It never gets old.
Seeing some rumor that the Warriors may rest Curry against Indiana. IMO, let him rest after breaking the record. He's so close to the record, it'd be unfair to fans buying tickets hoping to see him break the record.
Seeing Curry close up (105/row 8) for the first time in 2 1/2 years the other night he seemed less explosive (to me), a couple of times when he got into the paint it looked like he had an opening but passed it out to the corner (which are often thrown so hard and high that it gives the shooter no advantage), it was as if he was feeling pressure from behind that wasn’t there, the best way to defend a Curry shot has always been from behind (VanVleet) where he senses a defender and shortens his release, he’s looked surprised on more than one occasion this season when he was stuffed underneath the basket, just thoughts and a subjective impression
Age is probably the Occam's Razor explanation for this, but there was also a pretty interesting discussion on the latest Dunc'd On podcast about how the sort of thing you're describing might be influenced by the new points of emphasis on foul calls.
Basically, Nate was suggesting that the change might affect guards in two ways: first, by directly reducing their FT attempts; but second, by removing the *threat* of those quick, late changes in direction that used to draw contact and result in a whistle, and thus allowing defenders to track them more closely on drives. In other words, those tricks guards were using to draw contact in the lane were not only getting them to the line, but were forcing defenders to give them more space. Remove the threat of a whistle, you remove the extra space. Remove the extra space, and it becomes harder to finish.
To me, at least, this was an interesting point, and one I hadn't really been thinking about. The play Nate pointed to as an example was actually the one where Steph got T'd up in LA. Immediately after that was the PHO game, where he had a lot of trouble finishing. I wonder if it might be in his head a little bit.
1. I think the logic about the impact of the new emphasis is solid. Between being able to take more chances, being more physical, getting more benefit of the doubt on things like verticality, a lot of things that used to be fouls are becoming no calls.
2. I really think Steph was just slumping for those few games. He seemed to be finishing & floating ok against Portland, we'll see how it goes tomorrow and onward.
I always thought the game plan this year was to come out swinging with the vets, take advantage of the easy schedule and bank as many early wins as they could. It's only 20 plus games, but the Warriors played those with a playoff type intensity not typical this time of year, ergo all the early wins and a little December fatigue. I also think Curry was eye-balling Portland going back 5 or 6 games, thinking about breaking the record at home. I suspect once he breaks the record and gets one or two rest days in the coming month, Stepha will get his groove back.

I would like to see things finally break the right way for DLee, I went from putting him in the same category as QCook Durant’s homeboy vs Curry’s in-law - to cautiously optimistic about serviceable bench piece - to this guy really knows where to be on O and D - to “damn, that’s some clutch shooting”, every time he establishes his presence his game/minutes get muddled from an interruption, he feel like he’s half a season away from a decent contract or one serious injury from obscurity
I would be interested in what GM’s think of him. He has seemed like a solid contributor for over a year to me. I would think that he would be welcome on most rosters in the NBA for the right price.

At 6:37, what the heck is Garland doing? He's barely in frame near the half-court line and once the camera moves in he never reappears. The reason the Cavs spacing looks so bad is because they're playing four on five. I guess maybe Garland thinks he's Steph and can pull a defender away from 30'?

Steph is such a nice guy, at 1:54 you can see that Rubio and Love are starting a little line dancing and Steph is gamely participating by being the middle guy in the chain. Rubio and Steph are showing perfect form with hands on the outside of the hips of the next man in front, while Love is clearly questing for the next player in the chain he can latch onto.
Sadly, the rest of the players on the court are party poopers, are NOT interested in line dancing, and insist on doing their own dumb basketball things. Lee scores and everyone loses, opportunity lost.
Explain 1 ‘game’
If nobody mentioned this, look what I found!

“Star,” eh?
Yea. Makes for a clickbait headline. I clicked. LOL

Powers that be want him to break it at MSG, rightly or wrongly.
I wish he would. Just put the thing to rest. It would be spectacular, and then the Indiana fans wouldn't be nearly as upset.

substitute “trouble a Curry shot” for “defend a Curry shot”

He’s good enough that its now just about durability.
I bet the right price is currently vet minimum.
Probably seen as high IQ
Life on the NBA margins...
I love that Ayesha Curry reaction and the whole vid
