We’re less than 24 hours away from meeting our fate. Some of us will survive, others won’t. No matter what happens, I just want to tell you all how much I’ve enjoyed this months-long draftsturbation session. (Glad it’s almost over; I’m spent.)

Eric, you did a heck of a job gathering all the info for this series of posts. It's a lot of work but definitely helped me learn about all these players and what they can bring. Lot of fun. I'm very excited by this draft and what it will bring us. I don't think the Warriors will surprise us with any picks like Giddey or Sengun, unfortunately, even though we could use players like this who are somewhat unique and smart. The trend is now towards the athletic player and the metrics that they bring. I guess I'm old school in this way. The game has sped up but we see players like Jokic who are thriving well bringing super skill to the game without being an athletic freak.
Also: You can say this is just a coping mechanism, but almost all chatter about prospects being loved by teams is from agents. Kuminga’s agent has incentive to make teams think he’s desired by many teams. Also, GSW threatens to take every player to enhance their pick trade value.
Really enjoying this pod. Among the revelations, there’s a special private chat with every team where the draft runs about 10 picks ahead of the broadcast, so there is time to pull off trades that depend on players being available.
Should we have a contest on “who’s checked the Internet” for breaking NBA trade news the most times? I’m trying to resist more than once an hour. And: nothing. Wth guys nobody’s working on trades? Stop watching that damn Olympic slalom canoeing and do some work!
As one of the more vocal advocates for trading the picks for veteran help -- while I still think it's probably the "right move" ® -- the closer we get to the draft the more I'm kinda hoping they don't do it. I feel like we're in such a great position at 7 and 14, with multiple interesting players likely to be available at both slots. If we pick any of Wagner/Sengun/Moody/Bouknight at 7 and Duarte/Kispert/Butler/Giddey/Moody/Mitchell at 14 I'll be thrilled to see how it plays out in the coming seasons.
If we don't end up with any of them I'm gonna be really sad watching them dominate. Every time we played the kings last season I would day-dream about Haliburton and [insert-role-player-obtained-in-trade-back] on the warriors instead of... our current situation.

I hope the big board wasn't taken as a dig at the draft tourney! I thought the tournament was awesome, and that a site-wide big board would just be a cool supplement.
Interesting how close the results were for both, and where they differed (when you remove the top 4 and Barnes/Kuminga)

Thank you Apricot. I've never read any basketball content written by you that I have not enjoyed, and this work you have done on the draft is no exception. Looking forward to whatever you cook up next.
Eric - just wanted to add to the chorus of voices thanking you for this series. Creative, insightful, and really fun to tease out people’s values in this year’s draft.
But I have to disagree with you about humility: Sengun will be a stud and everyone who disagrees with me isn’t worth listening to. I will switch my avatar from McCaw to Sengun if the Warriors draft him to demonstrate my faith in him as the next great Warriors draft pick.

Thanks Eric. This was a really fun process to be involved in, and therapeutic! My high horse bolted some time in the tourney second round, as it became apparent I know nothing about evaluating draft prospects
You absolutely kicked it in the nuts with tourney and thanks and all that, but now that we think Wagner might be close to 6’11”, we probably need to do it all over again.
So now we are linked to wanting to move up for Suggs...whats the most we should give up here to get up to the Cavs spot(assuming thats who's the trade partner here)?
Whats the huge difference between Suggs and Moody or Wagner?

Thanks for all of this work, Eric. Your humility -- and good humor -- are a breath of fresh air in a 'hot take' world.
I just can't see the Ws pulling off one of the major trades (e.g. Lillard, Beal, Simmons); all of those guys are way too expensive. So I expect that we'll end up with at least one lottery pick draftee. I /can/ imagine Kuminga falling to #7 and the Ws trading down (hopefully within the lottery) and picking up a vet and depending on the vet, I could be very happy with that scenario.
After the draft tourney, I found myself wanting a whole bunch of these guys. Assuming we don't trade both picks for someone, I'm likely to be happy tomorrow.

With less than 24 hours to go until the draft, the Warriors reportedly are "leaning toward" selecting Jonathan Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick
