Beat writers aren't gonna let Dray forget about next year's tax bill, extension and what not through out this year. It will be fascinating to see how he handles it as compared to KD during his last year with us.

Hope he makes it through unscathed through RS and is a beast in playoffs.

As Bob said, next year is next year. Let's enjoy one more year of dominance by the trio, Wiggs and Poole

So, thinking a lot about the Dray contract situation. I have convinced myself that they told Dray and Andrew that they wanted to keep all 3, but can’t afford to pay all 3 what they’re worth. They told those two that were going to pay market rate to Jordan, because he’s never had a big contract yet, and both Andrew and Dray were going to have to take a discount if they wanted to stay. Andrew clearly is ok with this, but Dray clearly isn’t (“I want a max” blasted out to the media a few months ago right when they would have had initial discussions). He wants his dues, which he’s entitled to want. Now he’s going to have to play out the year in limbo… because he defiantly refuses to compromise. Good luck to him… I hope it motivates him.

And you thought that the big story of the preseason was going to either be the Japan trip or the lacrosse guy...

Myers on Lamb signing amid 2021 sexual assault allegations

“"At the same time, it’s difficult because if someone’s accused of something but not charged or convicted, and we then deny them an opportunity, is that fair, too? But again, that’s something we take very seriously," Myers said. "We can only, at times, look at what the law has done. And also follow the leadership of the NBA.

If the NBA had said, this is not something we would recommend, or do, or if there’s an ongoing investigation, we would have not moved forward. They have more information than we do in this situation and we had to lean on that. We had to lean on the prior teams that signed him. We didn’t do it lightly, but I understand the question.”

Draymond is a once in a generation player particularly because of his bball savvy. How long did it take for him to evolve into this type of player? Or was he always a defense guru. I cannot remember how he played his first years in the league.

Bob on the coming contract crunch:

We don't have to make any decisions until next offseason. Don't make moves until you have to. Things in the league change so quickly, so modeling a year out doesn't mean anything.

Hmm. Gotta be honest and vulnerable here.

I'm feeling a little snubbed.

Look, we all hate hockey, or we should, but it has a feature that I find instructive when I think of the ways that individuals transgress against societal norms. You hit someone with a high stick, whatever that is, they pull you off the ice for two or three minutes. But then, take note!!! ***You're allowed back on the ice!!***

I work as a therapist and so many people are mired in permanent shame or embarrassment. Perhaps they hurt someone's feelings, perhaps they regret staying in a relationship too long, perhaps they don't like the way their body has become, on and on. And certainly many of these experiences merit remorse, and contemplation of how to improve. But our society is so much better at yanking you off the ice than putting you back on it. This goes for rehabilitation in the criminal justice system, and it also goes for personal behavior or even thought processes. I've got a client who verbally expressed affection for five seconds in an unseemly way, much too early on a date, was told it was too soon, and now has crawled into a permanent emotional hole. That seems so out of whack.

We need a model for how to get back in one's own good graces. Of course I'm talking about Draymond, but it's true for all of us. It's not good that he punched Poole. It merits remorse, accountability, contemplation of how to do better, seeking forgiveness. **But when and how does it end?** I do not like to see wholesale condemnations of his character, any more than I like to see wholesale condemnation of anyone's character. He can be impulsive, and both he and those around him would benefit from learning not to be. But he is also a person, and has contributed a great deal of good to this particular team, and even to Poole. Not one of us has a superior moral soul to his, nor an inferior one.

Someone tell me what is missing before we can all say, "OK you've done wrong, then you were fined, the social media world jumped on your back, you proclaimed your remorse and accountability and intent to change. Good work. You are completely back. You are welcomed back onto the team and into our hearts as though it had never happened." It's not just up to Poole. It's a societal question about Draymond at the moment, but about each of us: how do we move on from doing a wrong thing?
