Hey, I've never had a basketball article make me cry, until this https://theathletic.com/5279301/2024/03/06/tom-meschery-nba-warriors-cancer-poet/?source=user_shared_article

So … about my post a couple days ago that “22 games remaining” could be a bat signal for #22… 😊

Expand full comment

Are we... going to be the #6 seed going up against a fresh new playoff team... with the Lakers taking the #7 seed facing another "up and coming team", while the Nuggets and Clippers sit in the 1/4 spots on the other side of the bracket? Cuz we did that already...

True, but we had bad JP instead of CP3 then, no Podz or TJD, JaMychal instead of Saric (an huge downgrade even given Saric’s poor play over the last month or two), and much less awesome versions of JK and Moses.

On the flipside: a sprier-looking Looney and Steph, but hopefully we can sneak some rest-games or rest-halves in over the next 22 games to help remedy that.

Expand full comment

Truly think just how bad JaMychal was for us flies under the radar. Playing PBJ who struggles to get minutes on the Wizards was an upgrade.

The flashy thingy was necessary so many times last season that it's all sort of blurry now.

If Dubs can beat the Bucks tomorrow, things look pretty good going forward:

vs. Chicago

vs. San Antonio

@ San Antonio

@ Dallas

@ Lakers

vs New York

vs Memphis

vs Indiana

I wouldn't be surprised for the Dubs to go 6-2, which would probably put them in #7 or #8 and within shouting distance of #6

Of course, they still have to play the games :)

Well... the Suns have to play Boston twice, and Cleveland & Milwaukee on the road in the next 6 games. If we can steal the Milwaukee game, I still like our chances of passing them...

Expand full comment

Bucks have been playing really good defense lately (#1 defense in the past 5-10 games), so we need to be ready for that. I also hope Spurs cool down when we face them, and the Mavs are still struggling when we face them.

Expand full comment

Spurs lost tonight to a mediocre Houston team... they'll be cooled down, only thing is that it's hard to sweep a home-and-home to begin with...

Expand full comment

Yeah, but them stealing this one stings. Nuggets led by 3 with two possessions left, and allowed a KD 3, then failed to get a good shot at the buzzer. Ah well…

If we steal this MIL game, sweep the sub-0.500 teams, AND beat DAL on the road, then we might very well be tied with SAC at 37-28 on Steph's birthday (we'd lose the tie breaker and be the #7 seed), with the Suns & Mavs at 37-29, and the Lakers at 36-31. Pels would probably be 39-26 by then.

Expand full comment

Stings indeed... especially when our Warriors can't seem to beat any of the top teams... last one against a top West team is @MIN in a few weeks... Just have to steal this MIL one ourselves, and then play well in the upcoming "lower tier playoff team" phase of the schedule.

So after tonight, we're now 0.5 games behind the Lakers, 1 game behind the Mavs, 2 games behind the Kings, 3 games behind the Suns, and 4 games behind the Pels.

5 GOOOOOOLD RRIIIIINGSSSS!!!!!

But, 1, 0, 2, 2, and 3 games back in the loss column, if you think the Dubs won't lose again this year.

*1 game up on the Lakers in the loss column.

Expand full comment

Oops, thanks for the correction

Tied with Dallas in the loss column, tho, with one fewer loss than LAL.

Our youngins will hustle like crazy if down 7 with one minute to go. Denver just walked up the court...

Is substack back?

Expand full comment

no, unfortunately we cannot read or reply to your comment.

I’m like not prevented from not not liking your comment.

fuckin' Substack

I like the sour grapes here. They indicate that we are all committed to catching the Suns and will accept no bullshit, we need that sixth spot and maybe better. Well done lads, I approve of this greed

Expand full comment

Lol, Suns scored more in OT (15) than in the 4th quarter (12).

Expand full comment

it's like the Nuggets, the Thunder, the Clippers are all frightened of the Western top seed so every time they get close, they choke, leaving the Wolves the #1 seed by default.

Expand full comment

That sounds really weird. “Wolves the #1 seed.” Try saying that to yourself and then somehow believe that you haven’t just fallen down the rabbit hole with little Alice.

Expand full comment

They are scared because they might face the warriors as the #1 seed

Expand full comment

Is Austin Rivers still on the Nuggets? because they sucked tonight.

Expand full comment

Welp. Suns beat the Nuggets 117-107 in OT.

Denver’s 6 game win streak post ASB ended. Hopefully DUBs end the bucks 6 game win streak tomorrow

They're slipping and sliding

Jokic throwing awful passes when he’s not playing against us. Christ sake they weren’t doing anything special he just forced that one to Murray

8-18 FG, 5 assists, 7 turnovers. Whyyyyyyyy

Did it on purpose to keep us in the play in

Expand full comment

Bozos - seriously Denver. They must be shut scared of the DUbs - don’t want to play them as a first seed

Mar 6·edited Mar 6

We’re gonna be the #6 seed so that’s poor planning.

Expand full comment

Damn, I think the Suns are going to win the OT.
