Looked to me like the team started off missing a couple plays due to bad luck or slipped focus while the Knicks made a couple lucky shots, then the foul calls and the ejection compounded everyone's mental fatigue. There were a lot of mental mistakes, sloppy passes and bad coverage, especially after Draymond was out. That's probably why the team as a whole shot badly from 3 and at the FT line. Bunch of guys looked like they were pretty done with the game long before it was officially over. So, I'm going to chalk this one up to painful refereeing making a back-to-back suck to play, and figure it's not a sign of lasting problems.

Even with all that, we weren't that far off from making this one a game. So I think we're still in good shape to make the playoffs, though with how crowded the middle of the West is right now, every L hurts.

Duby, I gotta quibble with this:

“Though a lot of chatter will be drawn to the (admittedly bad) ejection of Draymond Green, the game was still already leaning away from Golden State.“

When Draymond was ejected with 1:18 left in Q2, the Warriors were down by just 5 points. Just 40 seconds earlier, they had overcome a 10 point deficit to tie it at 55-55. At that point, it felt (to me at least) like W’s had momentum, but at a minimum it felt like anybody’s ball game.

We need the experience more than the win this year.

From that perspective - good game.

I don't understand why the refs couldn't huddle up and correct the tech call. They do it for so many other calls, and this one was obviously wrong (and a serious game changer). That said, the Warriors shot horrendously from 3 (a couple late makes helped the final stats a little). Even a 33% team average would have made a huge difference.

I think the seed may have been sown earlier when Draymond offered one of the refs a critique of some other decision. It didn't seem excessively rude or imposing: Draymond knows where the line is. But the ref looked like he didn't appreciate it. I remember thinking "uh oh". I don't feel like rewinding to find the moment, though. Not worth the trouble. Refs should learn to let it wash over them and just enjoy the energy on the floor. People like Draymond make the world go round.

The season is going to be a series of peaks and valleys. Hopefully this is a valley.

This team is still FAR ahead of where I thought they'd be at this point. The dominating victory over the Spurs was bound to engender some irrational exuberance; we're not THAT good and the Spurs aren't THAT bad. Lots of variance in the modern NBA game and this pandemic season it is even more prevalent.

On to the next one...

Ugly, ugly game. We got killed on the boards, our starting lineup got beaten and we lost the FT battle. We still had an outside shot, but the Knicks converted their outside shots and we did not. Apparently Kerr was furious postgame with the Dubs' fouling. Which, sure is a huge issue. But rebounding might be even more of an issue.

> Wiseman on Draymond getting tossed for yelling at him: "I was trying to get a post up and he threw it early. He was like 'catch the ball' or something like that...I guess that's basketball. I was confused myself...I don't know why the ref did that. I don't know."

On a game note: Paschall taking Draymond’s place in the second half removed the Warriors most consistent bench lineup from the game. Couldn’t help but wish JTA was active instead of Mannion tonight (and I like Mannion’s feel for the game.)

Warriors can't keep giving up 30+ points in the 1st quarter and expect to win many games.

Hero ref stops Draymond from bullying younger teammate!

Talk about being willing to look like a complete jackass to send an anti bullying message. It’s so courageous!
