By the way, I’m open to changing the field at the last minute if people make a compelling argument, but you have to tell me not only who to include but also who to REMOVE.

I think we should add Dalen Terry and remove Trevor Keels.
Terry is mocked right around our range (25-29), he's a 6'7" guard with athleticism, crazy length (8'10" standing reach, 1 inch higher than Moody, tied for highest amongst guards in the combine), and plus (elite?) passing, with 5.6 assists per 40min with a 2.8 AST:TO ratio (watch these highlights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4wp6iXcnSQ ). He didn't score much in his sophmore year (11.5 points per 40min) but he had decent efficiency (58% true shooting). His shooting is a question mark, but he put up just barely promising numbers this year (36% from 3, 73% from the line). He's a high motor switchable defender, who might even be able to guard 4s if he puts on 15-20 lbs. The ringer mentions Iguodala.
Keels is a stubby armed "combo" guard (8' 5" standing reach), whose carrying skill seems to be passing, though he only had 3.6 assists per 40 on worse efficiency than Terry. The ringer describes him as "Lu Dort minus elite defense" which is what exactly? That dean on draft article is really weird, it basically starts with the premise that being an incredibly unimpressive and unathletic schmuck isn't a deal-breaker in the draft, cherry picks 7 dudes who share the trait of not being able to block shots or dunk in college (which includes Tyler Herro, Jalen Brunson, Payton Pritchard, and Luke Kennard), and then tries to say that "in terms of on court performance relative to age, Keels seems like he is better than all of these guys." and says stuff like Brunson's "only significant advantage was in shooting." LOL. Well, all 4 of these dudes are shooters, Tyler Herro was unquestionably better in terms of on court performance relative to age, and the other dudes probably wouldn't have gotten drafted after their mediocre freshman years, and certainly not if they put up a 31% 3pt percentage and 67% from the line (52% true shooting).
Keels is the second round version of Davion Mitchell minus the success in college, if he's even in the conversation I'll be sad.
I agree 100%. Of the very few players I've looked at so far Terry (and Lidell) is at the top of my list. I also agree with your assessment of Keels - hard pass!
I don't know who any of these people are but I know that if we don't get a Jokic-level steal in this draft I'll be extremely disappointed and #firebob and all that.
If I do the draft vote thing this year, would people want to start all the way from the top? Or do something similar to this, rank the picks that are likely to be in our range?
For me personally, the latter would be better. I probably wouldn't have much of an opinion between picks 5-20 just due to unfamiliarity with those players.
Just found it. He actually rolled his ankle twice in the third. None of the replays are available via the usual means, but I found them in the League Pass replay. Took a couple screen grabs:
1. 3Q 7:15 on the blocking foul on Smart on the fast break. You can only see the rolled ankle from the replay camera angle.
2. 3Q 4:55 on the outlet by the C's that went OOB over Jaylen Brown's head (incorrectly ruled in favor of C's), Klay tried to deflect it and looked like he landed on Brown's foot... came up clearly hobbled.
remember in 2018 Finals Game 1, he turned his ankle something nasty looking, sat for a bit while a lot of us worried he was done, and then was completely fine
It was probably some time during the 3rd quarter because I remember he made a few 3s right after to keep us in the game. It was on the one play at half court where he jumped and tried to tip the ball away from Jaylen Brown to stop the fast break
i haven’t followed the prospects at all this year. who are we looking at? another lengthy wing? the next draymond? or another lengthy playmaking guard to play alongside poole in the future?
My favorites at this draft position -- based on extensive YouTube scouting report research -- are probably LaRavia, Williams, Jovic and Moore.
Would it be nice to add a defensive big to the roster? Sure... but seven footers who fall this far probably fall for a reason ... so I'm just not sure about Kessler or Koloko. The one thing I do find intriguing about Koloko is he's crazy athletic for his size and seems to be a guy who is improving year over year because he is still learning the game ... so ... would he be an interesting guy to pick and then develop in Santa Cruz for a year or two in case Wiseman's health never turns a corner? Maybe... but again... the kind of seven footer who's falling to the end of the first round probably isn't a great fit for today's game/the Warriors style of play...
LaRavia is definitely the player I want, have not looked at any Jovic and I gather that Williams is expected gone well before 28? Also based on YouTube scouting report research.
Yeah, I don't expect the Warriors to go with a big with the 1st rounder, but can definitely see them go for a big with the 2nd rounder to stash on a 2-way to eat up regular season minutes.
I've mentioned him before, but I wonder if we should look at Jessup's teammate Duop Reath, almost 26yo, 6-9 to 6-11 depending on source, excellent 3pt shooter (42%), good offensive rebounder and shot blocker.
Belilaugh showed me LaRavia, def already looks like a warriors player with his off ball movement, passing, activate hands and pace (and of course, that sweet, if very mechanically-limited shooting stroke).
Really doesn’t look like an NBA athlete though. Would def need to be a hard worker to make it, but his skills are tantalizing for sure.
Yeah I feel you on the athleticism … and I worry that will sort of leave him without a clearly defined position/function on a team like the Warriors. But, at the 28th pick, I also like the idea of stockpiling players who theoretically have skills that might fit out system … so … he seems to fit that bill 🤷🏾♂️
I remember back in the middle of the season when the calls for Ws needing a big were loudest, looking up Koloko and liking that he was athletic rim protector who shot 72% from the line. That's about the extent of my draft research this year lol
Jovic seems like an obvious pick at 28, in that I would be very surprised he'd still be there at 28.
From a need standpoint, I feel like a big Point Guard or playmaking/facilitating Wing who can play next to Poole would be ideal. Though, perhaps that need is best filled with Free Agency.

I say we add in the obvious choice of Caleb Houston because he's at Michigan and is a big body. We've had success with players drafted out of Michigan.
We should remove Liddel because he's at Ohio State and we just don't need that sort of negativity on the team, or Jovic because he's clearly getting drafted by Denver.
But also I did see him mocked you the Warriors in a draft (CBS, I think). Just shows how wildly these later first and second round picks can fluctuate.

Thank you so much for doing this! It must take a ton of work, but it will be so freaking cool when we have a where are they now All-Star team of DNHQ draft picks.
But not all workouts are reported, so GSW probably works out every player who they might draft unless the player is refusing workouts because they have a guarantee or because they don’t want GSW to draft them (more relevant Cohan era)
They met with Kuminga for sure. I think Atkinson along with some other coaches went to meet with him just in case he happened to fall to #7... they weren't expecting him to fall.
He came last year, right? Reviews seemed to be that he didn’t defend much in summer league(NBL video doesn’t look amazing either). But offense seems like he more than just a catch and shoot guy. No idea about Mannion. He looked like a solid, if small player when he was here, but having both him and Poole as super raw guards seemed like a reach…probably still is.
I had high hopes for Jessup but given the Warriors likely roster crunch I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors traded the rights to both of these guys along with their 2nd round picks to try to move up a little in the 2nd round if there is somebody there that they like. Jessup's NBL numbers are at least good enough that he might be able to catch on as an end of the bench guy for some NBA team but that team is probably not the Warriors.
I will be that guy who says I do not care at all that Alondes Williams wore a Mr. Escobar shirt and that would be a terrible reason not to draft him.
I would add in Dalen Terry but I do not know enough about most of the players to say to take someone out so I dunno lol. Is Keels really a guy the Warriors would pick?
EDIT: DFIB says Terry may be late lottery so forget it, I have no suggestions.
Dalen Terry is not a bad suggestion as he seems to be rising from 2nd round (when I made the field) to now mocked in the 20s. Jovic is the only nomination I've seen so far for someone to eject, but frankly I think arguing about Jovic will be more fun than arguing about Terry.

Oh I like Terry! Highlights I sw didn't include any D but he was on the PAc-12 all defensive team so I am in on him if he's available at 28. Quick glance at some mocks have him 25-33 or so. I am, however, highly sympathetic to the choice coming down to who's more fun to argue about :)
Edit: I kind of think you should remove Koloko. I kind of like him, but unless the Ws give up on JW I don't see them drafting him (now would be a good time for you to run out and place a sizable bet on the Warriors picking Koloko at 28!)
but having people argue about Wiseman is a great way to drive clicks and you know we make -- hold on, we actually make no money from angry clicks since we have no ads. Never mind
By the way, I’m open to changing the field at the last minute if people make a compelling argument, but you have to tell me not only who to include but also who to REMOVE.

You can PIN stuff???
with great power comes great responsibility
🙏🏼
I know diddly squat about college basketball, but I can see the effort it took to pull this together. Thank you for doing it.
Gotta go with EJ
Legit curious about who the Rockets are targeting at #26 — they must have a few players they’re really high on from this list to make a trade like that https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1537239570965667840?s=21&t=FLnUQcFKadcFJT5lBnKXrQ
Or they really just wanted to get rid of Christian Wood
I don't know who any of these people are but I know that if we don't get a Jokic-level steal in this draft I'll be extremely disappointed and #firebob and all that.
As I have never seen any of these guys play I feel like I am uniquely qualified to offer an unbiased opinion.
If I do the draft vote thing this year, would people want to start all the way from the top? Or do something similar to this, rank the picks that are likely to be in our range?

yah it's tough enough learning about the guys who might actually be available! aright sounds good, latter it is.
No, seriously...Is Klay okay? That man turned his ankle about as far as it could and didn't bitch about it all after a few limps lol
Grant Williams did this too
Yeah it looked really nasty on the replay. Before I saw the replay it looked like he was grabbing his hammy which probably added 2 years to my age.
When? I didn’t notice…

That second one was alarming. He seems fine though. Must be the healing powers of the ocean
Good finding it… he played the whole way down the stretch, and has always had durability, so I assume he’s ok…
remember in 2018 Finals Game 1, he turned his ankle something nasty looking, sat for a bit while a lot of us worried he was done, and then was completely fine
Thinking of the play where JR Smith basically tackled him? Of course, that wasn't JR's only highlight that night.
I didn't see the game and this is the first I've heard of it
Easy to miss because he still made the play! Rolled on ankle hella bad, jumped off the other one to poke the ball away and save the fastbreak
It was probably some time during the 3rd quarter because I remember he made a few 3s right after to keep us in the game. It was on the one play at half court where he jumped and tried to tip the ball away from Jaylen Brown to stop the fast break
Blake Wesley looks interesting... he's also the only person I've watched draft previews on so far though... 15 more to go.
i haven’t followed the prospects at all this year. who are we looking at? another lengthy wing? the next draymond? or another lengthy playmaking guard to play alongside poole in the future?
Good Wings are always the most valuable. Especially for the playoffs.
My favorites at this draft position -- based on extensive YouTube scouting report research -- are probably LaRavia, Williams, Jovic and Moore.

Also to be fair, Robert Williams fell to 27.
Kind of hoping the dubs can find an older big guy in the G-league for a 2-way contract.
Hopefully, good enough to soak up minutes just help looney, dray, and Wiseman while he gets experience during the regular season.
Yeah, I don't expect the Warriors to go with a big with the 1st rounder, but can definitely see them go for a big with the 2nd rounder to stash on a 2-way to eat up regular season minutes.

More on LaRavia … dude seems tailor made for the Warriors https://twitter.com/mikeascotto/status/1537126022587588611?s=21&t=FLnUQcFKadcFJT5lBnKXrQ

Hmmmmmm. I am detecting a wee bit of bias here...
and Caleb is mocked for mid-second round, so he's not right for this Tourney...
No bias here at all. Just stating my truth!
But also I did see him mocked you the Warriors in a draft (CBS, I think). Just shows how wildly these later first and second round picks can fluctuate.
Agree on the fluctuations, especially down at #28.
I've found CBS to be relatively out of step with other mocks (good) and with the actual drafts (bad)
Thank you so much for doing this! It must take a ton of work, but it will be so freaking cool when we have a where are they now All-Star team of DNHQ draft picks.
Did the Warriors meet with Moody and/or Kuminga last year prior to the draft?
Yes, https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/steph-curry-klay-thompson-attended-moses-moody-warriors-draft-workout

Seeing this makes me wonder... how is Nico Mannion doing right now?
International stats
Mannion: https://www.basketball-reference.com/international/players/nico-mannion-1.html
Jessup: https://www.basketball-reference.com/international/players/justinian-jessup-1.html
Jessup's numbers don't look awful.
31 mpg, 45%, 36% from 3 in his latest season.
I wonder if he can come to summer league if he's under contract in Australia (probably not).
He came last year, right? Reviews seemed to be that he didn’t defend much in summer league(NBL video doesn’t look amazing either). But offense seems like he more than just a catch and shoot guy. Thanks! From those stats, doesn't look like they are going to be able to snag one of the 15 roster spots next season

I just saw one SI draft suggestion…
That just means Alondes is a killer on the floor

Jovic should be removed for the soul reason that the Nuggets are morally and ethically required to draft him.
