Before voting closes I'm sneaking in a vote for Moody. Sengun might be my second choice out of everyone, so if he's the pick at 7 I would only be sad because he's not Moody, not because I don't like him as a player. Tantalizing as it is to dream of Sengun as a slightly smaller, higher-scoring Bogut, Moody is just more complete right now. Sengun's main scoring skill (for now) runs counter to the direction the league has been moving in, so you have to hope that most current bigs haven't learned how to defend sophisticated post moves well. If he can't live on that to start, he's going to be limited to passing as his main contribution until he develops a reliable jump shot from mid to long range, and I wouldn't roll the dice on that over everything Moody can do already.

Reviewing the votes so far I'm proud to announce that I am the biggest Sengun stan at DNHQ; I'm the only one who has him at 5.

I totally did not expect this from myself, but I will chip in a vote for Sengun. Even though I think Moody is perhaps a better immediate fit, there are other wings at 14 that are likely just as serviceable, albeit without as much upside.

In the end, over the next two years at best I only see Moody edging out Poole for starting/closing minutes, which in the end might be the job of a MLE/vet min signing anyway, so even if Moody is a better fit overall, I'm not sure how much more he's offering than, say, Duarte at 14, and he is most likely riding the bench, as will Sengun. In this scenario, Sengun's upside and playmaking facilitation are really exciting, and I can see him unlocking Wiseman and Poole on the bench. If he can provide average defense/rebound well, then he may even substitute for Looney for when we need more offense over defense.

Honest question: where does Sengun fit in the lineup this year? As a 4 or small 5, drafting Sengun means he's got to break into a rotation of our core guys Dray & Looney, developing hopes Wiseman & Chriss (if we get him), or the Town's own lion, JTA.

It'd helpful for anyone to eat up more minutes from Dray, but it's not clear to me an offensively talented but defensively-learning rookie, new to our complicated system and the NBA, is going to outpace the rest of our 4/5s regularly enough to take minutes off Dray and develop NBA skills. Best case, if he works out well, I can imagine Sengun getting 10-15 minutes a game next to Loon's steady D in the second unit, providing frontcourt offense and rebounds I would love to see. But I think the front office is committed to Wiseman as the frontcourt offense future, and has reason to be!

Moody helps fill an immediate wing gap from losing Oubre, and for Klay until he's back. Seems very likely like he will crack into 15-20m a game in the wing rotation of Wiggs, Poole, Lee, and Baze (if we sign him). As a role player rather than lead scorer, if Moody's 3pt shooting ends up more like his 42% catch and shoot level in college, and his defense ends up longer and stronger than Poole, Baze, and Lee as hoped, Moody could end up starting the midseason until Klay is back. Once Klay is back, we shouldn't count on him for huge minutes or physical defense, and Moody seems a strong plan to have his back (along with Wiggs).

I'd vote Moody. Can't deny Sengun would be a thrilling pick to watch, with promise to give us some frontcourt offense. I'm with most of you in wanting to avoid big trades that break apart our promising roster. Without getting Moody (or another good 3 & D wing) via the draft, it's going to put a lot more pressure on the team to make costly trades sooner or later to fill our relative gap on the wing.

Sengun -- Moody has a higher floor, and underrated upside, but I feel like Sengun is one of the few players in this draft with sky high upside and more than a slim chance of achieving it. Personally I think he'll play average defense, and his passing will be the swing skill that makes him great. If he adds an outside shot he'll be unstoppable.

Moody please -like is balance of high O and high D skills…although Sengun is a great consolation prize

Me thinks dub nation has chosen well getting these two in the final bracket

This quote was the decider for me: "he is currently better at basketball than Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green by a ridiculous margin." Most of the article seemed thoughtful although that statement HAS to be hyperbole. Right? Sengun.

Throw it in the post to Sengun, he can score, lob to Wiseman, or pass out to Steph and Klay. We score 140 every night.

I dunno… gonna zag and say Sengun.

Already voted for Moody but just some additional thoughts. By itself, I wouldn't be totally disappointed with Segun at #7. For any normal team picking at #7, it'd probably be the right gamble. The guy has some beastly potential and I'd really like him at #7 if we were solely looking for the next player to build around.

But the Dubs current unique position of trying to win a championship with an aging core while having lottery picks means trying to thread that needle again. At #7, if you have the opportunity to grab some immediate help along with some long-term potential -- which is what I consider Moody (I think his ceiling is undersold, tbh) -- that should be the strategy. Remember, the goal is to win again with the existing core without gutting our future, and if we potentially look back 5-6 years later at this draft and wonder what could've been with Sengun, then I'm fine with that.

Moody at 7... if we're lucky, Sengun at 14, but realistically, give me Garuba :)

Moody in a vacuum, Sengun for us at this monent. Someone who could be a big scoring threat from the post would make our offense dramatically more difficult to defend

I really like Moody and would be very happy with either of these guys at #7 and would be ecstatic if we somehow landed both (if one slid to #14).

But this question from deanondraft is what it all comes down to for me:

“…if you knew for sure you would get Kevin Love, where do you draft him in this modern era?”

For me, the answer is unequivocally yes because even in the top 10, the draft is basically a crap shoot and if you could get anything approximating Love production out of a 7th pick, you’ve done extremely well for yourself. I just have a hard time getting past that because his rebounding numbers alone bode extremely well for NBA success.
