I think the likelihood of Mulder making this team is very slim and will be predicated on not his play but on the absence of other players who come down with covid or get injured. Too many other possibilities on this team to hope for his rise, unfortunately.

Yeah, I imagine if any one of the guys mentioned (Mulder, Lee, Poole, Wanamaker) start hitting their shots with consistency, it's going to be a huge boost for the mid-game bench units. Ideally though, Paschall is also a guy who jumps up to the mid to high 30s. I think that alone would really open up a variety of ways to get efficient non-Steph buckets. Mulder being a threat would certainly patch up some holes in the rotation though.

Why is that whenever we have a conversation about 3 point shooting off the bench, no one mentions Wanamaker? He shot over 36+% from 3 last season (41+% if you include playoffs), 41% in 36 games the previous season and 38% over his last three seasons in Europe.

I know he’s not dynamic and won’t be ever be a big star, but he’s big enough to play alongside Steph and cover bigger guards. He could very well be a key piece off the bench.

With where we are on shooting, and given that Poole is still a wildcard when it comes to playability on offense, let alone defense, I think Mulder has got to be a favorite here. My issue is that if Lee were as good as he should be for being penciled in as a rotation guy, we wouldn't need Mulder. But I'm less sold on Lee than most.

JTA is a feel good guy and has a good NBA body, but he's the picture you see when you google "replacement level"

I expect that if they cut Mulder, another team would grab him before they could put him on a two-way contract. I doubt that's true about JTA, which is why I assume that's the route they go (assuming they don't sign anyone else or leave the roster spot open). Then again I know very little about the other guys they invited to camp, perhaps "Axel Toupane" is better than both.

Poole is the wild card on the bench. He was thrown into a situation as a young rookie that he was clearly not prepared for. It might have shattered his confidence, but he kept at it and performed well after a stint in the D League. That says a lot about his character and his ability.

Poole was a good shooter at Michigan, and if he can knock down catch and shoot 3's at 37% or a little better, he should have a regular spot in the shooting challenged rotation. Poole is also longer at 6'5" than Mulder, a better defender, and a viable secondary passer.

My money is on Poole being the first shooter off the bench ahead of Mulder.

Mulder should be on the roster. The .386 shooting mark undersells him if anything because he wasn't that great his first year. The last two years he's made more than 40% at pretty ridiculous volume. Last year he made almost exactly 4/10 3's per game. Which is also almost exactly what Dame Lillard and Buddy Hield did. Harden made 4.4 of 12.4, and nobody else had that many.

I don't think he actually would play that much. I think Lee and Baze are better all around players. Poole "might" be too. Nothing but good word on his offseason. But still, it's nice to find out that if shooting is the main problem you have a guy ready to go.

I think the Warriors have 14 guaranteed contracts and it would be an easy choice for me to keep Mulder over JTA. JTA could be on a 2-way or compete with Axel, Wesson etc for that.

There's been a couple reports that they want to only have 14 contracts and keep that spot open for the DPE. Also there's been reports they have no intention of giving up on Smiley (by potentially cutting him and giving Mulder the 14th spot). I think it would be pretty easy to trade Mulder at the deadline if they wanted to open a roster spot, but maybe it's just a salary plus luxury tax they don't want to hold for now.

I hope both Mulder and Poole come on as shooters. They both have a track record (Mulder in the G league, Poole in college). If they're going to make it in this league, they're going to have to improve on last year.

Otherwise, the Ws as presently constructed don't have enough shooting. We've got Curry and... Teams will just swarm Curry and for someone else to beat them. We better have someone who can do it.

The nice thing about Mulder last year was that he shot without hesitation. If he moves his feet a bit more on D he might make the roster and be a plus.
