In case you haven't read this in The Undefeated yet. I think Steve Nash is gonna need a hazmat suit.

Sounds like a disaster that will destroy the Nets forever.

A tidbit for those pining for PJ Tucker, from: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/1/13/22230340/james-harden-trade-john-wall-houston-rockets

"The Rockets may not be done trading, either. The Athletic’s Kelly Iko reported that multiple teams have inquired about lockdown defender P.J. Tucker. Two league sources tell me Tucker’s value around the league is about three second-round picks. The Rockets may hold out for a team to offer a first ahead of the March 25 trade deadline, but Tucker is 35 and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, which hurts his value"

Scheduling note (from earlier thread) part 2: because of the postponed Phoenix game, Golden State will no longer be stuck on a road back-to-back Friday night and will have until Monday for their next game, a deliriously long three-day break. I don't believe they can practice on Friday by league rule although I'm not really clear on that. Even if they can't, I can only imagine a few days off and missing that road back-to-back will be a massive break for the team. That's the good news. The bad news is the Warriors join a growing number of teams with postponed games that will (maybe?) need to be made up in the 2nd half of the season. I still think it is worth the trade, the Warriors need all the time they can have right now to get through this first half of the season.

I'm glad I'm not a Nets fan. Regardless of whether you think the KD/Kyrie/Harden trio will be great, don't you want some continuity when you root for a team? I don't think I'd be very interested in following the warriors if they suddenly dumped Steph, Klay and Draymond to assemble a superteam, no matter how good they were. All the homegrown players suddenly gone.

My feelings towards the Rockets & Harden means never having to say, "I told you so." What I will say is that it couldn't have happened to a nicer fan base.

The Nets have a real problem on their hands. It's like Kyrie fell off the face of the Earth and I'm just worried because it's pretty slippery near the edge.

Let's talk about the real ramifications of this trade: Andrew Wiggins 2021 West All-Star??? :)

I don't see any reason for the Nets NOT to like this trade. It's perfect for the short term and if success is their glue for the future, then the 3 become the 'golden boys' and the next dynasty. What team wouldn't try it? Of course, you have to give up a lot to make this work. The Warriors lost KD and sank to the bottom, but their 2 glory years before injury seem to have held the fanbase together and they still have some pretty good players on the roster. I would love to see Harden on the Warriors but I know the financial burden would be too big for ownership to carry in these precarious times.

I feel like with this trio the Nets will be well served keeping two on the court at all times, and 3 on the court not much or never. Of course, these three egos will not be volunteering to be the first one to hit the bench after the game starts, and each of them would throw a fit if you asked him to come off the bench. But realistically, you can't really take advantage of their offensive skillsets when they are all on the court together, and if two of them are on the bench at the same time, then whichever 5 is on the court won't be that good. So if I were Nash, I'd be trying to figure out a game rotation that can keep two out there, not three.

This has been an entertaining catch-up. Had been off doing other things and didn't know about the trade until I popped in here.

In theory, KD, Harden, Kyrie would be unstoppable if two moved off the ball when the third attacked. Since we know that’s not happening, it’s more uncertain how unstoppable they’ll be

So ... Oladipo and Steph were making goo-goo eyes at each other after last night’s game. $21M expiring contract, no idea of Houston sees him in their future plans or if he was just salary ballast for a long-term rebuild. Does one of our draft picks plus the DPE before the deadline get it done? We badly need a secondary high-level playmaker who can also play lockdown D, imho more than any other type of player...

Off the court? I have no goll dashed idea how that team gets along.

On the court? Those guys have an amazing blend of skillsets....and this looks like a hell of a roster.

Kevin Durant

James Harden

Kyrie Irving

DeAndre Jordan

Joe Harris

Landry Shamet

Tyler Johnson

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot

Jeff Green

Bruce Brown

Nic Claxton

Reggie Perry

Chris Chiozza

Spencer Dinwiddie

It's not hard to get a backup C and a defensive wing on the buyout market. These guys have baggage, and people want to root for them to fail. But these guys have all won, big AND they have something to prove. Doesn't mean it works out, but if you start imagining playoff scenarios I don't see which East team matches up well. And they could absolutely take out the Lakers.
