I agree. Draft D..he has what looks like the most modern skill set. Hasheem Thabeet is just one of the long list of 7 foot player busts. The issue with drafting D is also, will being number 2 player be too much for him?

Cool article concept.

Probably draft D if a straight comparison, but neither is a good GS fit right now. Neither looks like they’ll contribute now so pass on both.

Pass on A, draft D.

I can't help but try and figure out which one is Patrick O'Bryant

I’d pass on both if it’s now. Way back then, I’d probably have taken A.

I’ve been enjoying the guesses and reasoning. Good stuff here. Tomorrow I will post Game 2 with the answers to Game 1 at the bottom.

Not really for this story, but thinking of Warriors drafting and their constant search for a wing: How on earth did they not take the Pac-12 player of the Year as a rookie last year? Watching Dort guard Harden it’s really apparent that the Warriors aren’t as great at judging players as they might want to be. I’m not sure what the solution is but I really hope they nail the next two years.

Basketball is not a fat man's game. Even the "round mound of rebound," Charles Barkley, slimmed down a lot and became much more effective. Houston's "small ball" lineup will run out of gas because their players are too hefty. Here, the choice is "D". Immaturity is a risk - he'd need to be paired with the right veteran.

I'd go with D.

Nobody wins titles with Rookies. Warriors isnt some kindergarten. Trade the pick and Wiggins for embiid. Get him warrior's trainers to help with his conditioning. If embiid can stay healthy p, we can win it all. Before any rookie develops the splash brothers would already be too old.. We have a legit chance to win within 2 yrs..Embiid is a 25,10 guy.. I'm not sure Wiggins can produce in the playoffs. I keep thinking about playoff P

Interesting, LGW is a thoughtful and very conservative bunch. I was debating whether to give the option to pass on both. Might be more fun to debate which is actually seeming more promising.

I should tell you that both players were drafted before the Warriors changed the game. So think 1990-2010 basketball.

This game is too hard.

I've convinced myself to pass on both. I think I would pick player D if none of the later prospects were as good, but at least for the current draft there are some options I like better than Wiseman. I just don't think the team is in need of a raw big man with high upside and high downside.

My read on what the Warriors want most is someone in the 6'5"-6'9" range with good defense and respectable offense—a Switch Everything rotation player in the mold of Livingston, Iguodala, Klay, H. Barnes, M. Barnes... Someone with Wiseman's profile has a chance of being one of those much-discussed "unicorns" but a much, much higher chance of not.

If we look at who actually became an all-star in the league at 7 feet in the last couple decades, it's not a super long list. I suppose hoping for an all-star is setting a pretty high bar, but with the #2 pick it feels like we should at least try. The list of likely all-stars this season who are 6'11" and up is probably quite short: AD, Giannis... did I miss any? (KD is injured; the rest are borderline IMO) All-stars are mostly mid-sized (6'5"-6'9"). A couple notable ones are smaller, but with Steph for the foreseeable future I don't think we draft a top prospect who's 6'4" or less.

I'm sure glad I'm not an NBA GM.

Probs pass on both. Lean D as seems better skillset and fit for modern game.

Hard to say that I’d pass on both without knowing who else is available.

As much as I prefer heady players, I think I go with D. If I’m the Warriors, I know I have a first class organization that could help develop better habits. Ultimately he has a better projected skill set than A for today’s game, and will maybe have better trade value a year from now because of it.
