Apparently Fitz writes for the Athletic now. Probably.

Just a reminder that last time Steph had a closeout opportunity on the road in Game 6 of the Finals, he called game less than halfway through the third quarter.

Whereas SGA called … for a lot of fouls. And called it a night late in the 3rd when his team went down 30.

Great sports day in the bay - first giants win, then the OKc grifter loses or rather the pacers kicked their ass and then the Valkyries beat Caitlin Clark and the fever - wish more days were like this given there is so much crap going on right now !

Game 7s are great to watch when it’s not your team playing. This is where legends are born. I think OKC will win but imagine if an unlikely hero steps up for the Pacers. They would never have to pay for a meal in Indiana again

I won't be able to watch it live because Sunday is family dinner night but I'll catch the replay later and go back and read the posts here.

If you're trying to be objective, which of course is hard: Assume Steph had not gotten injured. Do you think the Warriors could have beaten these two teams, which presumably would have been necessary? Why or why not?

With an off-season acquisition, the lineup of STEPH/KLAY/DRAY/JB/+1 BIG would kill them! Lol...book it, ASHER!

...going into the playoffs, I felt they had a solid chance round by round.

Of course, at that time, we didn't know about podz and moody's injuries. It was pretty clear early on steph had a huge workload and it seemed inevitable he would wear out in the later rounds.

A full season with JB should help Kerr rest steph way more during the regular season.

Weirdly, I think we had a better shot against OKC in the West finals than against IND in the finals.

Steph would have needed a lot of support from the rest of the team. Butler, Podz, and Moody were were all nursing an injury. It would have been tough to beat OKC.

I’m not sure TBH. On one hand I think we would have really struggled against these two teams with their ball pressure but you just have no idea what Steph and Jimmy can do to a team if they get rolling

My Halliburton bepuzzlement continues. I thought he was injured in Game 5, that was the reason he went 0-6 in one of the all time bad games historically in the finals for an elite player. Then he's got an official calf strain, obviously he'll be even worse. Nope, he kicks ass in game 6. Does that mean? .... I don't even know what that means any more.

For Game 7 my prediction is that one of these teams will win. That's all I got for ya. I suppose OKC will play better at home and Indy worse on the road and that will determine it, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Maybe the Pacers made his injury worse than it really is to throw off OKC?

"Does that mean? .... I don't even know what that means any more." Good question. Haliburton had 2 1/2 days of rest and treatment, and he's a talented pro who gave it all he had. Sometimes that's enough, sometimes not. Tonight it was. That's the best I can do.

A "best team of all-time" candidate should not finish the postseason with a 16-7 record.

Although personally I'm hoping they finish 15-8.

As noted below, the ’16 Warriors complicate this argument a bit, but yeah. When our guys were in their first Finals and had a chance to win it on the road in Game 6 (against prime LeBron), they handled business.

Alright fine a best team of all-time candidate that made it through the playoffs without any injuries and didn't face any other juggernaut teams should not finish the postseason with a 16-7 record.
