[Slater] Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins are questionable tomorrow vs Mavericks. Adductor tightness and not the ankle for Wiggins. Sounds like inflammation in neck area for Curry. Moses Moody remains out.
Great move. I think Schröder is a great backup to Steph: as other people have already said, he defends well (yeah, he's short, but he has a huge wingspan for his size) and shoots free throws really well. He's also averaging a career-high 6.6 assists per game (although he did have 6 TO's in his last game - welcome to the Warriors! - the game before that against the Bucks he had an 11/0 line). He'll restore balance to the Force, uh team.
Does he make GPII (or Podz) expendible? I love the team as it is now, but I can see why MDJ might want to make a few calls pairing one of them with JK. It's hard to see who might want Kuminga, though.
A top team would want to improve now, but so would the Warriors.
A tanking or wanna-be-tanking team (like the Nets) might be intrigued by JK, but not want to pay him his next contract. Same with a team that expects to make the playoffs in the next few years (Spurs).
I don't really want to trade Wiggins for Butler, either. Maybe MDJ goes for a defensive center now?
I mean much as I love him, GP2 was always expendable even before the trade. He’s definitely on the block bc of his $9 mil salary alone. Might see him + some sweetener go for Valanciunas’ $10 mil contract
Pps, Basketball Reference has his nickname as, 'The Menace' which, OK, Dennis The Menace for Gen Z's and below. But how on earth did Dennis Rodman not get this and end up with something as bizzaro as 'The Worm'?!
One of the benefits of this trade is that you can now pair any 2 of our 4 smaller guards (30, Podz, Hield, DS) any way, any time. And you can pair Moody and Lindy with all but Hield.
The back-court is full of options that Kerr can employ without a whole lot of thought. Our lack of another consistent back-court play-maker was wrecking havoc on Steve's rotations. With Wiggins/Moody(hoping) holding down the fort at SF, Steve can focus in on juggling minutes at the 4/5 - which is no small job. The truth is, 1 through 3 can run independently. 1 through 3 is now very fluid. Who is on the floor in those positions isn't going to force rotation decisions at the 4/5.
This is huge. The fact the MDJ looks to be first out of the gate is another sign that he knows what he's doing. Congrats DubNation. It's a good day.
I kinda think he could be a useful addition for the playoffs. We dont have anyone really quick that can break down good defences. Or a reliable PG for the second unit.
>>>We reported today, quoting league sources, that the Nets are telling potential trade partners that they they “will only take back expiring contracts” unless accompanying draft assets are “rich” and even then, their limit is contracts with two years left<<<
>>>To get Schröder, the Warriors will be attaching three second-round picks to Melton’s contract and receiving a second-round pick in return, league sources said
The Warriors and Nets have been in sporadic trade talks for weeks and lined up as sensible trade partners. The Warriors are in win-now mode with a fuller draft cupboard than many of their competitors, while the Nets are in the early stages of an elongated rebuild.
The sides also discussed Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith in larger structures of a possible trade, but the Warriors preferred to maintain their young talent and keep this initial trade a simple swap that filled a need. Schröder is on a $13 million expiring deal that keeps the Warriors slightly below the first apron, where they are hard-capped.
Schröder is expected to step into a large role in the Warriors’ backcourt...Schröder’s arrival will likely lessen the minute totals for Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield, among others.
The Schröder move doesn’t preclude the Warriors from taking a larger trade swing as the February deadline gets closer. His $13 million salary can be aggregated in another deal, if needed<<<
“Final note on the trade talks with Warriors before shifting focus to the game being played in front of me at the moment:
Going out and getting Schroder is not the only move Golden State will be making. This is a move that was needed and allows them to figure out the rest”
“I would like to point this out and make it clear that Cam Johnson is not out of the picture for the Warriors, although getting Schroder complicates things financially.
Expect Johnson’s mark to be quiet before many teams begin to really pick up interest in him closer to Feb.”
New thread on the trade!

This is not welcome news.
Also, didn’t Wiggins miss a bunch of time with an adductor injury last year? Or the year before?
Boo

If we can offload kuminga and others for butler I think we can go full win now mode
Have to add Wiggins, GP2, Looney and Moody. Don't think so.
You will need half of our rotation to get Butler. That's not a good trade.
People be wondering how Schröder will fit in with motion/pass heavy Kerrball.
Season Turnovers/game:
Draymond, 2.4
Steph, 3.3
Dennis last 10 games, 3.5!
Yeahhhh he's gonna fit in just fine 😂
So he will be our best TO guy.
We’re getting somebody who can make free throws!
88% of me endorses this trade.
Will he be eligible to suit up v Dallas??? Hadn't heard.
If not, we have 3 days of practice before Memphis & Ja.
No, Melton can’t be traded until Dec 15
So, you're sayin' there's a chance!
How does one trade a 2 way player?
Could be a nice move for Beekman. He'll likely get some minutes on a tanking Nets team.
It happens but not very often.
Does he become a two-way player on the Nets?
Take the uniform out of his locker and leave a plane ticket. lol
I think we saved about 200k on this deal, inching closer to being able to add a 15th body from the scrap heaps.
Think your math is backwards on this one, schroder makes more than melton
Dyslexia again strikes! haha tx. I didn't think the Dubs had even that much wiggle room under the apron, so I just assumed.
Haha I had to reread your first sentence to read it correctly 🤓
Ps in case you were wondering/worrying
DS: At 6'1-6'2, he has a huge wingspan at 6'7 1/4
Pps, Basketball Reference has his nickname as, 'The Menace' which, OK, Dennis The Menace for Gen Z's and below. But how on earth did Dennis Rodman not get this and end up with something as bizzaro as 'The Worm'?!
No way anyone was getting away with calling Rodman Dennis the Menace. He would have knocked everyone who did into the next week, one by one.

pretty amazing how we all got on the Schröder bandwagon right after the Nets game - MDJ certainly thinks like the great minds here!
I'm sure he was listening to us!
maan, this jalen Johnson guy is pretty good for Atlanta - can we get him too somehow!
Suck it Thunder

Denis Schroder?
I kinda think he could be a useful addition for the playoffs. We dont have anyone really quick that can break down good defences. Or a reliable PG for the second unit.
But they have zero expiring contracts. They’d have to try to convince the Nets to take their young guys there are out of the rotation.
You're right about that.
