Lebron doing the coquettish fan dance does not bode well for trying to fit into STEPH's team. He's going to try to make it all about himself here like he has everywhere else.

I mean it’s been 3 days of free agency, I think this is a pretty normal amount of time to spend courting offers tbh. This isn’t the months of Kuminga refusing to sign the clear best offer he was getting redux

"[Charania] Free agent center Andre Drummond has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million to sign with the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN."

Poor man’s Mitch.

Rich man’s Mitch at the free throw line. Shoots a blistering 60%

"The Boston Celtics are signing center Neemias Queta to a fully guaranteed four-year, $56 million extension, his agent, Bill Duffy of WME Basketball, told ESPN's Shams Charania."

This is so wild. Any team could have had this guy, and it should have been us, since the FO had a front-row seat to Queta kicking Wiseman's ass up and down the court in G-League.

GlueAndBold's avatar

I don't know Queta that well, but beating Wiseman doesn't sound like a tremendous accomplishment to me.

Annihilating the #2 overall pick on multiple occasions was impressive at the time.

I hadn’t seen this shared. Warriors did a mini-documentary with a behind the scenes look at the draft, although it doesn’t include the infamous Dunleavy Lacob fist fight https://youtu.be/xodS3qmalis?si=e0vPNq6b2TJ2EYA0

It did a really good job of showing the excitement not only of getting picked, but the arrival at the arena and seeing how overwhelming it all is https://youtu.be/xodS3qmalis?si=e0vPNq6b2TJ2EYA0

Looking forward to some actual game action. Here's the flowchart as I understand it:

A) Yax Struggles

1) Hater comment - see, he is awful when he has to play against other grown men

2) Stan comment - of course he looks bad, his skill is in supporting others and there is no one to support on this flawed team

B) Yax Cooks

1) Hater comment - Of course he's going to cook in summer league, do you even know anyone on the Laker's roster? (Well, other than Carr, Mañon, and maybe Thiero - here's the whole roster: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/full-lakers-2026-summer-league-schedule-roster/ar-AA2713gW)

2) Stan comment - XL XL XL!!! WGBC!!!

Glad to get a break from LeDrama

Jason Timpf on what the Warriors should do if they don’t get Lebron https://youtu.be/w8io6m2tTjU?si=mN_9SFRIHMc1dAe4

Range's avatar

Agree with Jason’s take here… clearly a not so subtle shot across the bow from LBJ’s camp to the Warriors to up your ante - small font on Steph/Green, excluding Jimmy, including minor players (no offense Wiggs) as ‘pluses’ in your diagram. I still get the sense he’d rather play here for many reasons but just need a more competitive team.

When the smoke clears, if Bron is elsewhere, I’d be curious what the offers were—and whether TM3 was enough to sway him. If JT is right that it would’ve taken only two firsts, I’d be very disappointed. A package like 2027 and 2032 feels reasonable. The 2027 draft is weak, and you could likely recoup at least one first by flipping TM3 later. But I have a feeling it’s more than 2 picks right now, as these sh*t teams, are just holding us hostage bc they know we’re desperate.

Side note that I’ve yet to see, if Bron were to choose to play for the Dubs on a severely discounted contract, doesn’t this put at least some pressure on Steph to do something similar for future years (not that you’d ask him to or if he wasn’t already planning to). If we swing and miss on Bron, Steph may be “resigned” just to take the max/large money going forward.

I agree: Jimmy + 2029 1st is something I would actually do for AD (actually, unlike Timpf, I would do that in a vacuum/no LeBron). More than that is too much (although maybe if a second pick was lottery-protected).

Goofus's avatar

He said in the video that the Warriors didn’t do anything when Steph was good at 37 and 38 and have never traded a 1st rounder to get him help.

I left a comment that they did exactly that in the Butler trade.

crusty quips's avatar

Shhh you're challenging the narrative!

RaidedX's avatar

Said in the beginning that the wiz stains will probably squeeze more because they know Bron is behind the GM’ing…good on them for standing pat. Although, if they let it go completely, then they’ll never get a haul for AD like this again for him

BayesGT's avatar

Can’t do 2029 1st since we’ve traded (part of) 2030, could only do a 2029 swap I believe. Not allowed to trade away back to back 1sts. Can do 2027, 2028 or 2032 onward

Shawyer's avatar

2027 (and 2028) draft is alleged to be garbage, toss it in lightly-protected

Goofus's avatar

Besides (obviously) Dominican LBJ and Jones, I’m really hoping Cryer looks like a legit NBA backup PG who’s playing with kids. With Spencer* gone, he’s it right now and his shooting could make him an upgrade.

* Fun fact: He played lacrosse

Australia Egypt going to penalty kicks. This World Cup continues to amaze. Nearly every match of this round has been decided at the very end.

Loon Gehrig's avatar

I think they should take one player off each team (team's choice) every 5 or 10 minutes until it's 5-on-5, first team that scores wins

Lions come out from underneath the field, Gladiator style!

Loon Gehrig's avatar

if it's still tied they flood the arena and have a naval battle

Thanks for the roster and game details! I don't know how I feel about these new free throw rules. Will it really save that much time?

Edit: Also haven't been able to find any information on this but how would it affect player FT%? If a player gets fouled on a 3 and makes the one free throw, does it impact their FT% as if it were 3 makes rather than 1 since 3 points were generated?

Fantom's avatar

I would guess that free throws are more accurate on the second and third attempt than the first?

belilaugh's avatar

I love the new rules, let's speed this thing up.

While we are at it, no challenges until after the All-Star break. And most importantly, no intentional fouling in the last two minutes of a game, free throw and the ball if so.

Throw all these in there and the NBA would have a much better flow to it imo. The downside would be that youth and depth would matter even more without as many stoppages which would suck for the Warriors specifically, but whatever.

crusty quips's avatar

I doubt the games get sped up much because of this change, and whatever extra time is gained is going to be just given back to advertisers so I expect the median length of games to remain about the same but with more ads to basketball ratio. Horray, I guess?

Goofus's avatar

I think they should definitely go back to old school in the final two minutes of the game. There’s too much potential drama lost with the consolidated FT’s, including my favorite, the “make the first, miss the second and get it back” scenario when you’re down 3.

Sleepy Freud's avatar

Isn’t it the same FT rule they’ve been using in the G-League and summer league for a couple of years now?

GlueAndBold's avatar

Think of the poor advertisers, who depend on those free throw dual screen ads for their measly pittance!

Fantom's avatar
2hEdited

That is the one positive but i bet they will still divert and it will cut into live action

crusty quips's avatar

Yeah this is what I expect too, advertisers are getting their screen time no matter what

BayesGT's avatar

Heads up, the times posted are Eastern

Loon Gehrig's avatar

We interrupt this LeBron for an important annoucement: the Warriors are playing basketball today! Now back to your scheduled LeBron.

Thanks for the Blue/Gold breakdown. Excited for Yaxel's debut!
