As much as I would have hated it, it's looking like not trading for Harden may have been a disastrous miss. It was at Wiseman's peak value, Paschall's peak value, and Harden's nadir. We had the assets to pull it off, and it would have given us a chance this year, even if the fit next year was not ideal. There's not a player of Harden's caliber even rumored to be available in the next couple years either. Anyways, spilt milk is annoying, am I right?

Question for the group if anyone knows. I’ve heard on the radio that due to the compressed season, there are not a lot of practices, and very few scrimmages. Thus your bench players only play 5on5 full court every couple of weeks and in garbage time. Do NBA teams have a practice squad so that the guys that aren’t playing big minutes can play some full court ball? And if not - did they before COVID?

Working hypothesis: Jordan Poole is better than Gary Trent, Jr. Better scorer, rebounder, passer, and FT shooter, and five months younger. Only thing Trent does better is hit spot up threes, but JP’s FT% suggests more sustainable upside as a shooter.

Talk me off the ledge.

wiggins with 16-3-2 with no other star on the game..just 11 shots taken...poor game.

wiseman is what it is.....what is clear is that his timeline is not the same one that Steph. No championship team will play him in a playoff game for the next years...

We have to give Steph a team that can compete for a ring the next to years.

The money is there...we also have the assets and young guys, more than enought to bring another star.

I ended up watching this one since I heard it was sorta close at half time, and, man, we were never really in it.

Booker looked like he was thinking about the ASG but every time the young'uns got any kind of momentum, Chris Paul made a shot, almost as if to say, "No, you're not stealing this one."

The defense was a mess, lots of missed assignments and doubling up. Partly that's missing guys/ different rotations, but it was also Wiseman just being constantly in the wrong place, Poole ball-watching, Paschall over-helping... you've probably seen that by now.

Wiggins looked stable, but not explosive. Very typical. Paschall and Wiseman tried and failed to get past even Phoenix's 2nd string defense on drives and isos; ugly game for both of them. Perhaps more importantly, Wiseman's sloppy rebounding gave up a lot of second chances to Phoenix. I still think this kid has a lot of potential, but I really wonder how long until he can live up to it enough to be a net positive. So far, it's looking like it'll be quite a while.

Poole looked actually really good alongside either Wanamaker or Mannion. He did a lot more than make 3's, though he fired those off remorselessly and made them at a lucky high rate. He drove around guys and finished at the rim; he drew in the defense and kicked it to open guys; he cut with a speed and emphasis that made it matter, unlike the perfunctory cuts I've seen other guys make when they don't have the ball and don't expect it. His defense is still a work in progress, but the actual movement and energy he injects into the bench unit is just what it needs. There was a lineup with him, Bazemore, and Looney that seemed to bring a particularly potent brand of chaotic energy.

Overall, I guess I'm happy to have a relatively meaningless game to like this one to send us into the all-star break rather than the Portland heartbreaker or the LA abomination.

Wannamaker hasn’t even played two full years worth of games in the league yet. He and Poole are basically at the same level of NBA experience. Doesn’t he deserve the patience all raw players need to develop their confidence?

I've got to vouch for JW here - the guy has shown great progress in such a short period of time. He played less than a handful of college games, had COVID at the start of the season, and Im quite sure didn't see a Ayton style body at high school. He is learning and I truly believe this is a learning process worth waiting for.

Anyone remember how brutal it was watching Dray learn the game? I wrote him off and now his low % 3s are my username.

I'm all in on 'irrational good feeling guy Nico'. His balance and ball security whilst handling the ball on offense is really good. I enjoyed the PNR we saw between him and JW, he had the ball on a string ready for to lob until the very last minute, and fired it to JP (i think?) for a 3. Good signs and hopefully PNRs with JW to come.

Nice chemistry developing between Nico & JP too. Could see it in their dimes/celebrations toward the end of the game.

Only real down point on the game was EPs decision making on offense and Loon looking completely gassed (unable to jump/run...standard gassed Loon stuff).

Who knows what happens by start of next season but I hope during off season, Steph makes it clear that FO needs to set up the team for win next season rather than trying to do this balancing act of developing draft picks for future and also win. I get it this year given that Klay is out and so we had no chance. But it will be upsetting if they spend most of the next season developing Wiseman and Minn pick & our own pick.

My only wish for rest of this season - no injuries for our key players - though I reserve the right of being all sorts of upset over smallest of things during second half.

With wiseman I'd definitely be for trading him now before his value drops, just makes sense given stephs timeline.

However if we do decide to keep him we need to utilize him differently, he doesn't have the lower body strength for a post game right now, why not let him spot up in the offense to bring the center out the paint.

Wiseman could develop a nasty faceup game with his athleticism, let him pick n pop, run by the center if they close out to quick.

Also, we might need to sell high on Wiseman. Don't want to hold onto a prospect too long for his value to decay precipitously (see Marvin Bagley, DeAndre Ayton, Jahlili Okafor and maybe RJ Barrett for recent examples). Knowing Myers and Co, I expect a serious move before the trade deadline. Of course they're praising him to high heavens, but they were doing that with D'Lo as well. Whether that move is asset consolidation for a star or getting future assets for Wiseman (maybe a good pick in the upcoming draft?), I don't know. But I definitely expect them to explore that option.

Now that I think about it, Eric Paschall is a somewhat similar example of a guy who would have had more value early. Don't know if it's the knee or better scouting but he looks far less effective.

Nothing to see here: Jordan Poole dominating again for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

On a more serious note, how'd the three young uns look? Didn't watch the game and by the box score (and the comments here) it looked like Wiseman had a rough game and Poole and Mannion were good.

I admit I was never a fan of DLee. Honestly, I was waiting for the nepotism to run it’s course and we could move on. Now, I am almost to point where I feel he is an integral part of this team. His rebounding on defense is close to elite for a guard. His shot is reliable and his IQ is much needed on the second unit.

In a game like this, I couldn't figure out why Poole got so few minutes. The hottest player/shooter sat watching these clowns throw up bricks. It seems to me that Kerr's mindset is very fixed. He wants to play a certain way but his players don't execute. Why did he limit Poole's minutes if he wants execution? Isn't a scorer exactly what the Warriors need at this point?

Wiggins is so consistent at scoring between the 12-20 point range. Rarely more, rarely less

Seems like JP thinks he belongs in the league. Was playing with confidence shooting from deep, even if he did get smoked on D a couple times. That being said, I don’t think that he helps out our backup PG problems, in that he still doesn’t look like he can play PG. But he adds one more wing to the Oubre, Wiggins, baze, Dlee rotation. Crazy that we have 5 wings that I don’t mind to see on the court.

Paschall underachieved again. It’s like he’s grasping at the success he had early in the year going straight at guys, but it’s just not working. And his three point stroke is so ugly I don’t think he will be able to hit that shot.

Was fun to see Nico on the court, he’s got a good handle. I suspect he will succeed in the NBA, but I don’t think he’s gonna help us out too much this year.

Was too bad Wiseman looked so awkward.
