That Oubre to Curry to Wiggins break was really fun.

I'm irrationally excited about the Oubre Wiggins combo at the wings. I really like that they're both Kansas Jayhawks even though they missed each other by a year.

We should also keep in mind that what we're hearing about JW and Dray's return is probably the best case scenario. We don't know whether they are symptomatic, and if so, how bad that will get, how long it will last, how much recovery time they might need. We can just hope they are asymptomatic and only miss some preseason games and practice time.

I have some optimism for the start of this year compared to last year. It seems like Kerr has the right mentality that this team needs to be solid and aggressive defensively in order to get out on the break. We have good pieces to make that work and the key players on the roster have a little more experience with Kerr and Ron Adams' defensive scheme. Last year's defense to start the year was *PAINFUL* to watch. DLo and WCS were a big reason for that and even Burke + GR3 had no experience in the system. There were blown assignments on almost every play.

This year we could start 4 Warriors veterans (even if Chriss starts he knows the system) and the 5th guy is a DOG (I am a big fan of Kelly Oubre's attitude). If we can have a top 15 defense at the very least we will be competitive. It's tough that Draymond and Wiseman aren't there to help the team mesh in this regard but I have no doubt that Draymond can slot right in as long as he's in shape. Wiseman will really be set back. Hopefully we can ease him in against 3rd string centers where he won't get completely eaten alive on pick & rolls.

Does this mean Smiley might get some run early on? Wiggins and/or JTA may also get pressed into playing some 4.

One thing I noticed is, with so much time off, a number of guys came back with different hairstyles (Curry rocking braids, Looney, Poole). Also, Poole looks like he's packed on some muscle and gotten his body into shape, which should serve him well. I think we might see a lot of guys who were on non-bubble teams come back looking cut since they had so much time

to work out.

I've said in the past that I think the Warriors are fine at Center and that I still felt we had a need for a backup 3 IF Kerr was planning to play Oubre and Wiggins together. While I'm still fairly optimistic, I don'think now Wiseman will be ready for some spot rotation minutes to start the year. I don't know how much the Lacobs' grit to pay the price for a backup center (most likely cutting and stretching Smailigic and paying 10 mil for a backup C) would be (asking alot even for a Billionaire) but I think the critical level for going out and getting one has been ratcheted up a bit with Wiseman now having to miss half of training camp

Wiseman having COVID makes it all the more egregious that they don't have a veteran starting center on the roster. Hope he and Green recover with no long term complications.

Curry is the best! Let’s hope he’s around for another decade!

Is Curry the king of trash talk? Did he time this to show the difference between himself and Harden?
