Will Klay return? Saturday morning musings + playoff thread
DENVER IS GOING FOR BROOMS TODAY IN L.A.!
Happy Saturday, DNHQ! It’s a beautiful day in the Bay Area, and there’s plenty of playoff basketball to check out. The Boston Celtics take on the Miami heat at 3PM West Coast time with the series tied 1-1. After that, the Denver Nuggets will try to put the finishing touches on LeSweep when they play the Los Angeles Lakers at 5:30pm.
Can we talk about our Dubs for a sec though? I’ve been alternating between ignoring basketball completely and binge consuming whatever scraps of Golden State Warriors content I possibly can. On one hand I’m very disgusted that the team couldn’t make the playoffs; on the other hand I know for a fact that this team has put everything on the line over the last decade to bring four titles to the Bay.
But one piece of content I missed: former Warriors General Manager Bob Myers reacting to the fall off of the team this season. He left before this season, after the team bowed out in the second round to the Los Angeles Lakers. He has probably more insight into the Warriors’ internal dynamics than anyone else as he did so much to build the team up.
I personally want the Warriors to ride the Big 3 all the way until they’re completely done; there’s great value in having that core be lifers in the Golden Empire. Tim Duncan never left the Spurs, Kobe Bryant never left the Lakers, and Dirk Nowitzki never left the Mavericks.
How awesome would it be if these three future Hall-of-Famers finished it out together? So when Myers said that for Klay Thompson to come back is that it’s all gonna come down to money and pride for him to come back, I thought about the very real possibility that we’ve seen the last of the Big 3 if the Dubs can’t come to an agreement with Klay.
I’d be really sick to see Klay in another jersey; I was also very sick to see him go 0-for-10 against Sacramento in the play-in game so I can understand if a certain part of the fan base is frustrated with his play.
Okay DNHQ, gimme your thoughts: Do you believe Klay Thompson will be a Warrior next year?
These are the times that I wish Jerry West was still advising the Warriors...
Congratulations on not getting swept, Lakers.
