[Price] The Orlando Magic aren’t expected to tender a qualifying offer to Mo Bamba by the end of Wednesday, which will make him an unrestricted free agent on Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation @orlandosports

JaVale, Wiggins . . . Mo Bamba? Just kidding, his QO is 10+ mil, and Orlando must think they can get him without RFA matching rights.

Meanwhile, let's find some trades for Ish Smith. He needs to play for 3 more teams to have been on half the teams in the league.

Edit: When the Warriors had him, we were his third team in his career, as well as his third team of 2011.

I have zero memories of that. Good times.

> The reigning-champion Warriors are expected to retain Kevon Looney, as first reported by Michael Scotto at HoopsHype. Rivals believe his salary will be approximately $10 million over a multi-year deal. Golden State is hopeful to retain Gary Payton II, sources said, but a suitor that offers the full mid-level could pry him free. Otto Porter Jr. is expected to receive multiple offers for the taxpayer mid-level, putting his future with the Warriors in doubt.

There will be no GP2 offer that the Warriors cannot match, it's all on them (and they better pay up).

Expand full comment

I mean, by rule they can’t match over the Early Bird max ($10M or so), but I doubt anyone offers him that much. Hope not, anyway…

But that's basically the MLE, right? I think those are typically around equivalent. It's only cap teams that could outbid us, and they're all rebuilding so not real threats. It comes down to the Warriors being willing to pay the tax on a full salary. It would be hugely short sighted to let him go.

[Evan Sidery] Take another team out of the market for Malcolm Brogdon. With the Knicks and Wizards making their point guard moves, the Pacers’ top contenders for Brogdon vanished. Indiana could be forced into a spot where they have to sell off Brogdon for way cheaper than expected.

So who's left? A Brunson replacement (for Dinwiddie + change?)? Phoenix for Ayton (doesn't work unless Turner is traded)? The Jazz are actually maybe the best destination, but not sure how it would work, and the Jazz would probably have to find a taker for Conley first.

How about Conley getting traded, then waived, then picked up by the Dubs on a vet min? A guy can dream, at least :)

Knicks about to overpay Brunson and Wizards settled for Will freaking Barton when a more than solid PG in Brogdon was available. No wonder those 2 teams have been sorry.

Seems like an offense for defense swap with some marginal players on both sides. That said, pairing KCP with Jokic, Murray, MPJ and Aaron Gordon could make for a pretty sweet starting five on paper. KCP is also a good three point shooter (a shade under 40% the last three years on about 6 attempts a game) and should benefit from better looks Jokic will get him. Nice move for the Nuggets I think. I think this makes them better.

Yeah, I thought KCP would've been worth a bit more.
