I’m asking for a selfish reason: I want to do some retro-Explain videos. I already made videos for a lot of my favorite games listed below, but most were before I starting adding my mellow but unhinged voice commentary.
Here are a few of my favorite games, not in order
2015 WCF OKC Game 6, Game 7. Birth of Game 6 Klay. But also Steph playing out of his mind on one knee for the end of G6 and G7. It’s forgotten that OKC actually was ahead for most of G7.
2018 WCF HOU Game 6, Game 7. A war between the two best teams of the Dynasty Era. HOU without Chris Paul, GSW without Andre Iguodala. HOU went up double digits in the second half of both games!
2019 WCF HOU Game 6. Everyone thought GSW, without Kevin Durant, would lose in HOU for G6 and then die in G7, especially with Steph scoreless(!) in the first half. Instead, Steph had a closing half and closing crunch time for the ages.
2022 Finals BOS Game 4, Game 6. You remember these. Put a ring on it.
2022 WCF MEM Game 6. MEM without Ja evolved into a more powerful defense of the kind that is kryptonite to GSW. MEM was ahead late and on the verge of going back to G7 at home (where they just blew out GSW in G5). GSW wins with a last minute comeback.
2015 Klay 37. Two words, you know the quarter.
2015 Bang Bang. SO much in this game. You might have forgotten Dray’s “I’m not a robot” sermon; that Steph tied the NBA game 3 point record; that Steph was knocked out of the game with a bad ankle sprain and came back; Andre’s unlikely FTs to send the game to overtime; Klay finishing an And-1 Klay-up to set up the Bang Bang shot…
2016 73rd win, Steph’s 400th three.
2016 big beatdown of the scary Spurs.
2016 Playoffs POR, “I’m Back” Game
2018 Finals Game 1. Fight on court. J.R. Smith. LeBron was so mad after that he broke his hand on a whiteboard.
2022 Return of Klay
2019 Finals TOR Game 5. The core without KD save the series in the last minute..
I don’t have a lot of attachment to the “record” games, like Steph’s 13 threes, Klay’s 14 threes, Steph’s passing Ray Allen. The Steph MSG game was pretty fun, but I don’t know why I’m not as attached to that game either.
What is your favorite Warriors game?
(And let me know if I should make a video about it.)
Bang! Bang! Oh what a shot from Curry! With 6 10ths of a second remaining!
not only was that game absolutely incredible basketball from both teams, but i'll never forget where i was when i saw that shot. those 2016 GSW/OKC games were just so good
This is a great question and an impossible choice. I read through the whole thread and kept saying, "Yeah, that one..."
It's hard not to go with any of the games that finishes off a championship -- most recently, Steph being aces down the stretch and then the outpouring of emotion. But if we don't go there, all the ones you named in the article are memorable. Maybe for the schadenfreude of it all, the 2019 WCF game 6 against the Rockets. With no Durant, Curry was scoreless in the first half, then broke out for 33 in the 2nd half and broke their hearts again.
But that 2018 playoff game against Houston where the Rockets missed 27 straight three-pointers was also classic.
In the regular season, it's the Bang-Bang game. It felt like a playoff game, and Curry had to leave the game with an injury. He came back on the bad wheel to throw the ultimate haymaker, a shot so memorable that its call is also iconic.
