Kind of similar to us. If we get fully engaged beast of Dray today, I think we win. When Wiseman is in, I don't think Dray focused entirely on winning the game. With that sadly not being there, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Also let's see how many minutes Loon can handle.
We have wins over the Clippers, the Lakers, and the Spurs. Call me crazy, but I think those are better than any wins the Celtics have other than the Bucks.
I'll be sure and pull snippets from this for an article for everyone (maybe just the game thread), but if you have a Chronicle subscription, the new Wiseman article is mandatory reading:
> Draymond Green and Eric Paschall are both listed as "probable" with muscle tightness. Warriors need both of them in the wake of James Wiseman's injury.
My biggest concern coming in; we've been pretty spotty in our three point defense, and Boston (and specifically the fantastic Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum) have been lighting up the three point scoreboard. We need whoever is on Brown (I'm going to guess Oubre but it could be Wiggins) to have a really inspired defensive effort to slow him down without requiring lots of double-teams, since he's adept at passing out of double-teams and the Celtics are well-coached to take advantage of these situations. Tatum will likely fall to Wiggins in this scenario with Draymond directing the defense and playing goalie.
Brown and Tatum are shooting 44.3% and 43.5% respectively from three point land on a combined 5.7 makes a game on 13 attempts a game. Payton Pritchard is also shooting an excellent 42.5% albeit at a much lower rate of 1.2 makes / 2.9 attempts per game. Theis is also a very respectable three point shooter shooting 38.2% but low volume at less than one made three per game.
Kemba Walker (as mentioned in the article) is the big exception as he is taking a high volume of three pointers -- 6.8 a game -- and making only 2 per game, shooting under 30%. Expect his defender (likely Steph) to sag off and give him the three until he proves he can make a few, to prevent his dribble drive game and getting the Jaylen and Jayson train going with points in the paint.
>Brown and Tatum are shooting 44.3% and 43.5% respectively from three point land on a combined 5.7 makes a game on 13 attempts a game.
and thought about how excellent that is... then I remembered that Step in 15-16 shot 5.1 makes a game on 11.2 attempts at a 45.4% clip in 34.2 minutes per game, fewer minutes per game than Tatum *34.8) and only slightly more than Brown (33.1)
Every time I think I grok just how insane Unanimous Steph was, I find something else that blows me away about it all over again.
I actually like our chances defensively against Boston. Between Dray, Wiggs, and Oubre (with dashes of Baze mixed in) we have some solid options against their best weapons.
Also, I didn't put it into the article because he hasn't been doing a ton here, but this is Wanamaker's old squad. We could use a good game out of him tonight.
I agree we have demonstrated the ability to play with them. We're just not as consistent night in and night out as I'd like to see. Hope we bring our A defensive game, we're going to need it because it's tough to score on them and they are excellent at things we struggle with (e.g. offensive rebounding and taking care of the ball on offense).
Really banking on the Celtics playing without Smart being a big deal. Because otherwise, the Celtics just look like a much better team so far this season
Tied at halftime, this game is certainly challenging the Warriors to rise. Oubre has risen, Paschall has not. The bench seems weak.
Why Warriors' Brad Wanamaker is excited to face former Celtics team: https://sports.yahoo.com/why-warriors-brad-wanamaker-excited-210022729.html
In other news, Glen Davis is, in fact, a big baby: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/as-warriors-walk-tricky-line-between-present-and-future-stephen-currys-prime-wont-last-forever/
Haha, whoops, wrong CBSSports.com link! Here's what I meant to pass along: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/sidelined-warriors-star-klay-thompson-fires-back-at-glen-big-baby-davis-for-calling-his-injuries-karma/
Yeah, the other one is good too :)
Interesting stat: Dubs are tied with Celtics for 10th spot for DefRg (108.9). Kerr delivered on his promise of top 10 defense after 20 games!
OffRtg: Celtics are +3.4 over Dubs.
Reposting from below, here are the Celtic's wins: Bucks, Pacers, Grizzlies, Pistons, Raptors, Heat, Wizards, Magic, Cavaliers, and Bulls.
Losses: Sixers, Nets, Nets, Pacers, Pistons, Knicks, Sixers, Sixers, Spurs, Lakers.
3 wins against good teams + 2 wins against good teams with bad records [so far] + 5 wins against mediocre/bad teams

great read, thanks for sharing. doesn't exactly remind me of my 19 yr old self!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

ohhhhh boy....
Another autocorrect failure. In the NBA they're not "probable" players, they're "pro bball" players....I'm just here to help.
"> Draymond Green and Eric Paschall are both listed as "probable" "
Better than questionable or doubtful. Think they'll be fine

I hope it goes better than the last time we had a teammate go against his old squad :(
I thought Wiggins had very good games against the T'Wolves!

I mean, they're 10-8. Let's not crown them champions just yet ;)
Also, let's take a moment to look at their wins: Bucks, Pacers, Grizzlies, Pistons, Raptors, Heat, Wizards, Magic, Cavaliers, and Bulls.
Not exactly a murder's row here...
Oh I miss my editor!!! Jason Lee, if you're out there, look at what a mess I am :(
thanks to both of you!
