Myers presser about Poole and Wiggins. Also discusses Draymond a bit https://youtu.be/Mh1yo3PZMbI

- He thanked the agents. I wonder how much of an advantage being a former agent himself helps in negotiations?

- Said they believed both players wanted to stay

- Dray’s punch had no bearing. They were already both far along with both players. Said again both players wanted to be here and get it done.

- Was asked about next season and whether Joe will keep ponying up. He said let’s see how this season goes and they don’t need to make any other decisions right now.

- Talked a bit about Draymond and the punishment. It’s all uncomfortable but we did the best we could.

- Regarding the culture, the hardest thing to do is keeping a winning thing together. Culture is people and we lean on all the high quality people (players, coaches, FO) we have in the organization in tough times

- Was asked about penalty for drafting well and danced around it

- There was no plan to do both signings on same day

- Wiggins and Myers talked to each other where they both told each other how much they appreciate each other and the team. Sounded very kumbaya.

- How do you feel about 2025? There’s a lot of talent and depth on the roster. Hardest part is getting the young guys playing time when there’s so much talent. Very happy that Poole and Wiggins are part of things.

- Draymond’s contract? Draymond’s in a great position with the P.O. He has a lot on the line and we expect him to play well. His contract doesn’t feel like an issue. How does the organization feel about him? (Approx quotes) “He’s here. He’s on our team. He has things to work on and we think he will. He’s a part of the team. It’s more important of what his teammates think.” (It sounded pre-worded.)

- Talked about Poole’s work ethic and Wiggins’ arriving untrusting to where he is now. We’re betting on the person with both of them.

- Lamb quote from short vid down there. We take it seriously. Not charged, etc. Relied on league and teams that previously had him and had their own in-house counsel.

Steve Kerr

- Totally pumped about both of the signings. Thanked Bob and the owners. Proud of Poole and his work and everything Wiggins has done since arriving.

- In Poole’s rookie season, he never thought he’d be at this moment. Talked about how he realized what he had to do and did it with hard work.

I’ll keep updating

Myers issues around Lamb. I’m glad someone asked. https://youtu.be/-Orca_rl_6Y

Does anyone have a breakdown of the incentive part of JP's deal. The $120m base is exactly the same deal Miami gave Herro; the differences are in the bonuses.

Where do you go to grab game clips? With about 2:35 left in the 4th Kuminga made a beautiful pass to PBJ in the corner for a wide open 3... which didn't fall, so no one has it in their highlight package. Kuminga pretty much ran the offense to end the game and had some great passes to Spencer, Rollins and PBJ.

I honestly think this has nothing to do with Dray. These deals have been in the works for months.

It’s a nice Sunday morning! Gone to bed with JP on board for next 4 years, and now also Wiggs won’t leave the Dubs.

As enhanced by all of You, Lakota, Myers made an impressive job, avoiding mess in locker room for the whole year, thank You so much!

About Dray an old Latin statement -2300 years BC- said “ Faber est suae quisque fortunae “.

Everybody is the creator of his fate.

So true for him.

How????? Wow I'm so impressed. How did that conversation go? How much push back did Wiggs' team give? Esp. considering how we're going to be getting prime Wiggins years, up until age 32!?

His contract is effectively ~$24.3 this year, + 8% annual raises for the 4 years following. For reference, that means he's effectively 52nd highest salary in the league, right after Draymond (25.8 this year), and behind the likes of Brunson (27.7), Jaylen Brown (28.7). I don't think any non-rookie players getting paid less than $24 are better than Wiggs. Maybe Mikal Bridges at $20 is a comparable or better deal, and other good players that I would not take over Wiggs: Jerami Grant, Brogdon, Anfernee Simons.

wonder what the market price for Draymond is going to be.

Leakers waive Jay Huff, who looked pretty good in SL. I mean, we'll already have a great SeaDubs squad, so maybe there's nothing the Dubs need him for, but for those still pining for another useful big, maybe there's a possibility to keep Huff on ice.

Edit: below was based on Beings original spreadsheet which I think he indicated may have had some inaccuracies regarding repeater tax. So it may or may not still apply... But I still like the signings either way!

Original: "Being" provided the excellent details below, but these signings today are exactly what was needed to keep a possibility of keeping the whole band together beyond this season. In the off-season I had played around with his great spreadsheet he made available, and it seemed like to keep expenses in a somewhat realistic realm (closer to $400m than $500m+), we needed Poole and Wiggins to sign deals that started in the range of low $50M combined for the first year. Based on what was reported today, they should be at about $51.5M first years (assuming 8% annual raises), which is great. We don't know Poole's bonus specifics, so that could tweak things a bit. But basically it looks like now Draymond could potentially opt in without it immediately triggering a key player (him or someone else) having to be traded. Even better is if he opts out and takes a new deal starting at a lower number, which might be best case for everyone unless his actions have caused permanent damage.

The "scary" scenario was Poole getting a max offer we had to match in the off-season, and Wiggins also getting $140m+/4 offers. That would really have put Warriors in a bind, but what happened today was pretty much best case scenario (I had maybe imagined Wiggins/Pooles contracts swapped, but same outcome for the team). Go Myers and company! A+ off-season!

GSW gave Denver 41 FTs!!!!! The nuggets made 34 to W's 22. There's the game right there. JK fouled out. He can't stay on the floor fouling like that. Wiseman as well. Defense in this game was piss poor.

[UPDATE: I forgot about the repeater tax, and that totally screws us. Mr Teal reminded me. Re-doing numbers]

So I plugged in all the new numbers into the spreadsheet, and yah, salaries are sky-high for next season.

Salary spreadsheet:

------------

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JKTDRR_YbjX8S_xebph8qIEDd6b1-dBvlbeUHc1lD04/edit#gid=791431159

Here's what I get:

------------------

This year, with Andre and 15th slot empty:

Salary: $189.5M

Luxury Tax: $170M

Total: $359.4M

Note that the tax apron for this year is $150.3M With a $189M salary, their max multiplier is 6.25x + 1 for the repeater tax + base salary, so every additional dollar is $7.25.

---------------------

Next season:

with Dray fully opted in @ $27.6M:

Salary: $217M

Luxury Tax: $283.6M

Total: $500.5M

This puts them in the 8.75x multiplier zone.

This also assumes 2 vet mins to fill in the last two roster spots.

---------------------

Now let's make two minor tweaks:

Trade DDV and fill his roster spot with a 2nd round rookie similar to Rollins this year, getting paid $1.1M or so.

Renegotiate with Draymond and get him to $112.65M/4 years ($25M starting salary next year).

New salary: $211.1M

Luxury Tax: $239M

Total: $450M

New marginal multiplier: 8.25x

--------------------------------

Can they get Dray down to $20M in the first year?

If so, the numbers will be:

New salary: $206M

Luxury Tax: $203M

Total: $409M

which just may be palatable for Lacob.

I wish I could play basketball for a few million a month. That sounds awesome.

So don't make me think, I find contract stuff confusing. Bottom line: Poole and Wiggins stick around -- does this mean anything definitive for Draymond and/or Klay?

I was not online today until this evening. Great News!! I was expecting something on Poole and clicked on an article about Wiggs & his $109M extension. And I'm thinking "well that's not as much as I was expecting" -- took me a bit to realize I wasn't reading about who I thought I was. Glad both got their bags!! I will also say that I don't think Draymond is going anywhere.

OT Molly [kitten] & I visited Dill this morning. I thought he looked better than he has since this ordeal began for him. His legs were re-wrapped yesterday and will be again Monday or Tuesday. I think he was happy to see Molly. She spent most of the time exploring the room where he's being boarded. Typical kitten.

Quote from Lacob

"Of course I paid them. We still got 11 championships to go in order to be the winningest franchise . . .. what's that? Of course I've gone mad with power! Have you ever gone mad without power, it's boring, nobody listens to you!"

Reasons Draymond will stay here long term:

1. No one will pay him significantly more than he can get with the Warriors

2. No one has a better chance of winning than the Warriors

3. He has over a decade invested in this team and system

4. He will not have as large of an impact on the court as he can here

Reasons Draymond will leave after his contract ends:

1. r/NBA thinks he'll get traded

2. He wants to play with 40 year old LeBron in LA rather than Steph and Klay

3. He wants to play for Detroit

4. Some team decides to offer him lots of money

5. He feels disrespected here for, reasons?
