Warriors stun Mavericks in Dallas; is Dub Nation ready to believe now?
BIG WIN FOR THE CHAMPS!
Dub Nation HQ is really the place to be to get a smorgasbord of perspectives on the living, breathing dynasty that is the Golden State Warriors.
There are times in the comments when some of our more agitated brethren and sistren announce that the team has bad vibes and the season is over in January. Others (like myself) boldly proclaim another championship parade before it happens, even when the team is mired in depressing slumps.
And I’m alwaaaays keeping receipts on “who said what” so that when the sands of time shift, we can discern the prophetic from the hyperbolic.
So with that in mind I had to chuckle when our very own Captain Jack summoned me out of my day job tasks in Duby Dub Dub’s preview of the Dubs vs the Dallas Mavericks in a game with major playoff implications:
“I hope Hardee keeps this comment as a receipt because I fully expect us to get waxed tonight. Draymond? Already checked out. Klay? in Sausalito with Rocco. Steph? No longer MVP. Overrated 3pt shooter that can’t finish jelly style like Kyrie.”
-Captain Jack’s comment yesterday on “Mavs and Warriors still jostling for playoff positioning”.
Now normally this would elicit a chuckle from me as I’d continue to flip burgers at the local diner, my hairnet keeping my luscious curls protected from the harsh smoke and grease from the grill. But reading this comment from my Motorola Razr caused me to pause and lower the spatula.
The Warriors HAVE been playing so terribly on the road and getting embarrassed so many times on national television this season that there’s was the growing possibility that Captain Jack may have actually been so disappointed that they were giving up hope on the GSW’s Big 3.
At that point I ripped my apron off with the patties still sizzling and dashed outside to the nearest phone booth. There, in a flash of light I transformed into the Gold Blooded King, hero to Dub Nation and terror to all basketball related rivals. Then I waited for a Lyft to take me back home so I could watch the 4:30pm game in solitude; AND WHAT A GAME IT WAS.
The Warriors won 127-125 in a thriller, but the play that everyone will remember was when Dallas didn’t understand it was their turn to play defense on an out of bounds play that led to the easiest layup in Golden State franchise history.
What a rush! The Warriors have been sticking it to Dallas since that We Believe year when the 8th seeded Dubs humiliated the top seeded Mavs. This latest win over Dallas was a pretty important one in the sense that it put a buffer between this year’s Dubs and the 8th seed in a very convoluted Western Conference playoff race. AND it also gives GSW the tie-breaker over the Mavericks after winning two out of three games in the season series.
So with that in mind, I’d like to get a snapshot of how Dub Nation is feeling after two big road wins in Texas. Are we championship ready???
