When Dray talks about Steph fucking around… that’s what he’s referring to

Close one in Houston. After three quarters, Jazz 90, Houston 57. Over-under final margin is therefore 33 if nothing changes. Do you have over or under?

Good or bad idea?

When a team relocates and their name no longer makes any sense, they have to pick a new one. For example, there are no grizzly bears in Tennessee, no notable lakes in Los Angeles, and I don't associate jazz with Utah.

I just want to share this photo of JTA going up to contest and block a shot from Josh Giddey and Giddey looking completely terrified. https://ibb.co/pPWDR6y

Memphis is the second-youngest team in the league, average age 24, with only OKC being younger. Prompting a new contest: MEMPHIS IS SO YOUNG THAT...

So a discrete whole rather than a continuous whole?

Not posting this for any Wiseman comparisons (why did all the Wiseman talk randomly flare up the past few days anyway?) but just to point out that Mobley looks incredible defensively. Some highlights from last game:

Is it extreme to say he looks Garnett-esque defensively? You can see the Clippers slowly start to realize it's a bad idea to challenge him. Cavs play the Lakers tomorrow and I really want to see him guard AD. And I really, really want to see him guard Giannis.

Such an interesting rookie class, hope Kuminga and Moody make it more interesting.

We will have a better sense of where this team stands in a month, both because we will be 20 games into the season and because we have 16 games from tonight through November 28th.

Yes, the schedule is tougher than it first looked but no one in the NBA looks that scary yet.

Memphis will be interesting because they have size and athleticism. It is technically the first game back from a road trip but I do not think GSW will overlook the Grizzlies.

Charlotte is young and explosive; they can beat anyone on any given night but won't be consistent. We play them twice, so we should know a lot about that matchup.

Minnesota likewise has won some games against quality opponents but I am not ready to put them in the upper echelon yet...

Game 14 is against the Nets, who haven't played well so far but winning in Brooklyn would be a pretty good sign for us.

I figure Toronto on the 21st (game 17) is a good place to circle for the return of Wiseman.

Finally, game 20 is on the road versus the Clippers who look to have Ibaka back.

We will learn a lot by then but I am especially eager to see a few Wiseman games. I hope he can silence most of his critics in Warriors Twitter and a few of you here on DubnationHQ. Everyone is so quick to dismiss Wiseman's rookie year. Yes, he had Covid during camp last year and was thrown into the deep end of the pool. Yes, he had a couple of injuries and missed half the season and finally, yes, the team went on an end of season run after he went out but reject the idea that Wiseman after the all star break was a a bad player.

I really think he was a strong net positive for the team in those games between the wrist injury and the torn Meniscus. He (mostly) learned to play with Steph and OMG is he an amazing lob target.

This thread is confirmation of the idea that all desire (for LaMelo Ball) leads to suffering.

I see such a disconnect between saying the Warriors shouldn’t have drafted Wiseman vs saying he’s a bust. Most of us who suggested the Dubs going in a different direction didn’t base it off him being No Bueno. We based it on two main rationale a). Traditional Centers are like running backs of the NBA- you can find good value lower in the draft (see Stewart, Isaiah) or b). He was going to take way too long to develop into the type of impact player commensurate with that 2nd pick

I fell/fall squarely in option 2. I wanted a trade back and Okungwu. I’m not going to pretend I wanted Halliburton or Lamelo because frankly I felt Melo was gonna be a bust and Halliburton shot mechanics scared me. Only reason I revisit all of this is because many people posting before or immediately after felt similarly to the two scenarios posited above. What most of us didn’t feel (and still don’t) is that Wiseman is going to be a bust long term but also it’s ok to say that when you consider the pick as constructed today and who went before and who went right after and then consider how well some of these late pick centers did last year and how well Mobley is currently playing it’s ok to say that as of right now we may have gotten better value for that pick had we gone in a different direction.

What most of us are not saying is that Wiseman is the second coming of Thabeet. If everyone is truly honest though we can all agree that Wiseman is going to take longer to develop properly into that 2nd pick value (not talking playability) than what most of us (coaches, FO) included originally envisioned. I personally thought the man was going to be Javale McGee with slightly better defense from Day One NOT absolutely unplayable

In the play-in game we had seven guys (Steph, Dray, Wiggins, JTA, Bazemore, Looney, Poolewith occasional minutes from Mulder) that had run themselves into the ground just to get there.

Subtract: Bazemore and Mulder

Add: Lee, Igoudala, Bjelly, OPJ, GP2, Moody and Chiozza

There’s enough guys back who want revenge and Kerr has far more pieces to mix and match. I like our chances.

The Grizzlies are currently #2 in offensive efficiency and #30 in defensive efficiency.

If we play like we did against OKC, we probably lose this game.

I don't think we're gonna play like that tonight.

Memphis scares the bejeezus out of me. They can look like confused and sloppy young players, as they did last night -- because they are. But they can also look like some great young players who can go on game-long runs -- which they also are. We're lucky Dillon Brooks is out. He's a menace. But Morant, JJJ, Bane, Kyle Anderson, Steven Adams -- this team could easily be a fifth or fourth seed in the playoffs and the Warriors better bring their .. time out. I hate the expression "bring your A game." It's so cliched and it was never that clever. What's a better idiomatic way to say "Be at their best?"
