Good evening Golden State Warriors fans. This nightcap is brought to you by breakfast for dinner, which I’m having right now. Gosh, is there ever a bad time for scrambled eggs, hash browns, ham, and toast with jam? Delicious.
You know what else is delicious? The Warriors aren’t playing like trash right now.
That’s right folks, this team is suddenly in the thick of the *checks notes* play-in tournament. They are currently in the 10th spot of the Western Conference race, only half a game back behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the 9th spot, and 10 games back from first place.
Right on their heels is the Utah Jazz, the team that the Warriors punished last night in Salt Lake City 129-107.
Interesting! You know, it was just January 16th when I ran a piece discussing how an old dynastic Lakers team from the Rick Fox era had to figure out how to keep their championship glow as age and personal agendas made them vulnerable to an entire league of hungry teams sick of seeing them celebrate.
I also wrote that to try to add some perspective on the Warriors blowing a game to a completely depleted Grizzlies so disgustingly that it almost sent Dub Nation into a full on revolt.
Does anyone remember this poll from the bottom of that piece? I asked DNHQ if the Warriors would make the playoffs…and 70% of the HQ said NO!
IN JANUARY! And we know that the HQ is the place where the greatest GSW fan minds collaborate to share their visions. That’s pretty intense, as was the team’s penchant for blowing clutch games to start the year.
But whaddya know? These Dubs are suddenly squarely on the fringe of relevancy with their hot streak. Golden State has a five game win streak, tied for the biggest current such streak in the NBA. They’ve also won 7 of their last 8 games, an encouraging sign that as of literally a month ago was left for dead by many in Dub Nation.
Okay, as I smash these hash browns down, I’ve got another poll for you HQ. Enjoy (and remember I am the legendary, gold blooded Keeper of Receipts).
Game thread posted.
Great hearing Joey Lightyears talking about trying to get out of the tax altogether come
Offseason as his top priority. As the team has pulled out the most sustained run of the year. Im sure players can do some basic math in their heads. So like I said a few days back: stop f*<ken patronizing us as if you were going to try and make moves at the trade deadline. Just amazed how many in the fanbase still get suckered into the lies.
