Warriors jack 69 threes in fun preseason win over Blazers
Did the Dubs hire Mike D'Antoni as an assistant?!
Look at this shot chart from the Golden State Warriors’ entertaining 121-107 romp in their preseason debut over their Oregonian hosts, the Portland Trail Blazers.
WTF. I know a lot of people are going to be going gaga over Jordan Poole’s scintillating game (and rightfully so)…
…but let’s take a moment to soak in how many threes these Golden State rascals launched last night. 24-of-69 from beyond the arc!
Now I know the Warriors are leaning into small ball this season, but last night was like a fever dream from Mike D’Antoni’s Houston Rockets treyball-jacking era. Remember when Houston set the record for most 3PA in a single game with 70 in 2019? I don’t think the Dubs would shoot that many in a regular season game, but 69 in that dress rehearsal is a helluva statement.
Jordan Poole: 7-of-13
Stephen Curry: 3-of-8
Otto Porter Jr.: 4-of-7
Mychal Mulder: 3-of-6
Andrew Wiggins: 2-of-5
Avery Bradley: 1-of-6
Juan Toscano-Anderson: 0-5
Nemanja Bjelica: 2-of-3
Damion Lee: 1-of-3
Draymond Green: 1-of-2
Andre Iguodala: 0-of-3
Jonathan Kuminga: 0-of-3
Chris Chiozza: 0-of-1
Langston Galloway: 0-of-4
There’s always a danger in taking too much from an exhibition game eight months before the NBA Finals, but these Warriors are eager to explore spacing possibilities.
Shifting gears…did anyone else catch Andrew Wiggins interview after the game, discussing that getting the vaccine felt like he didn’t own his own body? After the glow of a fun win over the Blazers, hearing that was HEAVY.
