When you look at the Golden State Warriors obliterating the Milwaukee Bucks last night in Chase Center, we saw the return of what of GSW hoops have historically done to fuel their dynastic rampage across the NBA over the last decade. What are those things? You could say:
Defending with vigor - After the Bucks scored 32 points in the first quarter, the Dubs systematically cut off their water as the game progressed. In the 2nd quarter Milwaukee tallied 26 points, in the 3rd frame they were limited to 23 points, before finally the Dubs put the pink EBMUD notice of cancellation on their door in the 4th quarter and only allowed 9 points.
Milwaukee’s 38% shooting from the field, 28% from trey is a far cry from the 49% FG and 37% 3PT shooting numbers the Bucks have posted this season (both top 10 percentages respectively).
Of particular note was the way the Warriors youngsters defended, with rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis limiting the monster MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to 2-of-6 shooting from the field (blocking him THREE TIMES!).
Giannis and his running mate, All-Star and Oakland’s very own Damian Lillard were a combined 1-for-6 shooting when guarded by the third-year wing Jonathan Kuminga.
Running like wolves - The Dubs ran the Bucks out the building at every opportunity, outscoring them 19-10 in fastbreak points. But more than that, they were able to THREATEN so quickly off of defensive stops, that the Bucks were caught out of position, out of communication, and off guard, so that when the Dubs transitioned from the fastbreak opportunity to a half-court offense, there were several juicy opportunities to take advantage of.
Shooting like snipers - DON’T FORGET THESE BOYS CAN SHOOT. The Dubs hit the Bucks over the head with 19-of-39 shooting from beyond the arc, giving them a +24 advantage in 3PT points.
Now can they do it again tonight against the Chicago Bulls?
Good time for a TO.
I feel like by the end of this game everyone has 6 fouls
