Warriors blow yet another huge lead, fall to Clippers in shocking fashion
The Clippers only led for nine seconds and still stole the win.
What it do, HQ? It feels good to activitize (just made that word up) the old blog boi powers this Sunday morning. I’ve been sick, like not going to work and laying in bed shotgunning Nyquil and lemon tea sick. I don’t know what the heck is going around in the Bay Area but it had me in a Lex Luger headlock. But no matter how much it put me through, the good Lord has restored my immune system in a major comeback. I missed ranting with you wonderful people here in this stronghold of Dub Nation commiseration. It’s great to be back!
Speaking of comebacks, WHY IS EVERY TEAM COMING BACK ON THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS?! The Dubs are blowing leads on a regular basis, which I’m sure has left all of you folks sick as well.
Last night in a 113-112 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Clippers only led for NINE SECONDS the entire game. Nine seconds out of 48 minutes! That was all they needed though, as the Dubs blew a 22 point lead on the road. The Dubs won the made three-point advantage 17-13, the made free throw advantage 19-12, and the rebounding battle 42-40.
They even got a scoring explosion from Draymond Green, who scored 21 points for the first time since the 2018 season, and hit four threes! But it wasn’t enough, partly because they got lit up (again) in the points in the paint area, losing 56-38. They also lost the turnover battle by -4.
The Warriors were missing Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul for this contest, sure. But there’s no excuses in the NBA; you’d hope they would have enough in the tank to scrape out a win down the stretch after dominating the first half.
This loss drops the Dubs to 9-11 in their first 20 games. For those wondering, in last year’s disappointing snakebit season, they started off 10-10. That’s right, the Dubs are off to a worst start than that cursed iteration.
Dub Nation, do me a big favor and explain what the heck is going on. I’m going to go get a hot toddy and wrap up in some blankets to watch this Niner-Eagles game. Have a great Sunday!
Thing is, if they know this already, it doesn't;t look like they have developed an effective counter, and it has cost them games.
Why does everyone come back against the Ws? Because it is widely known that no lead is insurmountable against Golden State. Teams are WAITING for Golden State to fritter away the lead. And they are not often disappointed.
The team says they'll figure it out. I think that's entirely plausible. But until they prove otherwise, teams know that they are never out of a game against them, no matter how much of a lead they have.
