Warriors are showcasing new powers of Strength in Numbers in win over Pelicans
DO IT AGAIN TONIGHT AT 7PM, DUBS!
Through four games, the Golden State Warriors are 3-1. OH NO NOT THAT SERIES OF NUMBERS. But this time, it’s good folks. The Dubs got a monster win last night, coming back from a 20-point deficit to barnstorm the New Orleans Pelicans.
Keep in mind that the Pellies were a playoff team last year and have a lot of pieces that are legitimately dangerous. Brandon Ingram is a professional bucket getter. C.J. McCollum is a sniper. Zion Williamson is a highlight reel wrecking ball that can posterize anybody.
And last night Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, two previous All-Stars, were out with injuries. So when the Dubs got down 20, it seemed like it was going to be a rough nite in Chase Center, something the Warriors have had a lot of in recent years.
BUT NOT LAST NIGHT!
The Warriors ran the Pellies out of the gym 40-28 in the third quarter, a throwback to THE Third Quarter Warriors. You know, those Warriors who could go from down 20 to up 20 in the period and have Stephen Curry sitting on the bench in the 4th quarter.
And whaddya know, Steph was on the bench in the fourth quarter last night (the whole game really).
Here’s the shot chart for those 3rd quarter Dubs last night:
A couple quick notes from this game to keep in mind:
The Dubs started Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, Moses Moody, Draymond Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Left out the mix? Jonathan Kuminga.
Hield scored 28 points on 7-of-11 shooting from downtown. SPLASH SON ALERT?!
Lindy Waters III 21 points, with 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Um, is he going to get a statue in front of Chase Center one day?
Moses Moody scored 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. He’s balling out of control.
Kyle Anderson had 5 steals.
Next up on the docket is the Pelicans again, can the Dubs do it again tonight?
Postgame thread up!
Why is Moody in during garbage time?
