Apparently, yes

Going to watch WIGGS debut vs BOSTON for half-hour in MIAMI before the DUBS game. By then, we'll know if he still owns TATUM...LOL TATUM had 40 pts against MIAMI last time they played...could be interesting game, with BAM in the front, WIGGS, AND HERRO in perimeter. Of course, they all got ANDERSON, and MITCHELL...ALL practiced with the team on Sunday, and are good to go...

Let me be the first: "Celebration Integrity." Definitely meets the standard we expect from Mr Eric Apricot!

I will sign anything ERIC writes....a Surgeon General once said that about a young Army officer, so it is a privilege to pass it on for ERIC...

>>>Officially official from LAC. Ben Simmons should be at practice tomorrow.

Simmons will be on a veterans minimum for rest of the season

Simmons will count $775,000 against cap, will make about $1.1 million<<<

FROM SHAMS:

Just in: Arbitrators have ruled Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez over Glen Taylor as the next majority ownership group of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lore and Rodriguez told ESPN. The NBA’s Board of Governors now have to approve Lore and Rodriguez.

"No take backs!"

Happy for the Wolves fans who thought they were finally rid of Taylor, but selfishly the Wolves might be a tougher competitor going forward without that guy messing up the franchise.

Jonathan Kuminga will remain out through the All-Star break, per Warriors. Advancing to some limited on court work. Team hopes to incorporate him into practice out of the break as he gets closer to a return from bad ankle sprain.

Official update from Warriors PR (on Twitter so I can't post link) says he will be re-evaluated in 10 days

Expand full comment

That's only one day before the SAC game coming out of the ASB, is he going to be out even beyond that? Sheesh...

Expand full comment

Yeah the wording on the official injury report sounds like he won't actually start to full on practice until after the ASB so I doubt we see him immediately post ASB

HIGH PRAISE from JIMMY BUTLER for DRAYMOND.

“I’m grateful—he’s shown me so much grace in understanding that I’m new here, even though I’ve been around the league for a long time. He’s showing me the way, and I’m very thankful for Draymond.”

It doesn't get better than that for a start...

If the Dubs can go back to having three totally connected future HOFers with a chip on their shoulder, that would be just peachy.

I love luscious, softball-sized, sun-ripened, sweet and tangy, fuzzy-skinned, juice-dripping, Greek peaches.

As one who grew up in peach country in the southeastern USA (several neighbors had peach trees, and we kids were allowed to pick a few whenever we wanted), that sounds fantastic.

Expand full comment

You guys amaze me...you know all about peaches...next season, I need to get a basket to you from my top secret stash...GLUE AND BOLD gets the first one. SLEEPY, the second, and ATTILATHEHUN, the third. Three HOF slots reserved...

That would be Steph-level awesome!

I'm pretty sure I need a cigarette after reading that sentence.

You need all your taste buds for these peaches...you'll never ''need'' a cigarette again...

Walkin’ on the beaches, lookin’ at the peaches… 🎵 😊

LOL...I knew you wouldn't miss it...I like Georgia peaches, too, but, if any of you guys ever make it to Greece, I know where they are grown, all biological, and as described, above....

How Steph influenced NBA's decision to change All-Star Game format

"And he said from his standpoint that maybe breaking up the game a bit, shorter games, multiple games, he thought was certainly of interest to him and he thought would be of interest to other players as well. So we spoke to Steph, we spoke to many other perennial All-Stars, worked directly with Andre Iguodala at the Players Association, and came up with a format that I’m very hopeful will work."

If it doesn't work just keep trying new ideas. Nobody wants to watch 46 minutes of a casual pick up game... and 2 minutes of 70% effort at the end... if the game is close.

When the players decide to play serious competitive basketball in the All Star Game(s), there will be a reason to watch it. Otherwise, I for one have better things to do with my time.

I was perusing the injury report, and Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk (traded from TOR to NOP for Brandon Ingram) are listed as not being with the team (4 days after the trade deadline).

Kinda wonder why, TBH. I wouldn't think there are any visa restrictions to account for it (Brown's a US citizen, and Olynyk must have a work permit for the US).

I wonder if buyout negotiations are going on.

Olynyk would be a nice pickup for us, I think (but he's the less likely of the two to be bought out, since his contract goes through next season and he's a useful player).

Expand full comment

Between starting Post, their interest in Olynyk last trade deadline, the Vuc rumors, comments made by the plus-minus guys, and the idea that they would look hard at the buy-out market, I am positive the Dubs would push hard for Olynyk if he was bought out.

It all hinges on whether the Pels want him next year and whether Olynyk views the Dubs as the best fit. Unless Nance is bought out, he'll be the best center available and will have his choice of destination (minus the 9 teams who are restricted from signing him by rule).

Expand full comment

Olynyk’s not just a generic stretch big, he’s also a legitimately good NBA player — great shooter, great passer with some actual game off the bounce, decent defender. I think he’s a decent amount better than Vooch (miles more efficient scorer, e.g.)

Steph-Kuminga-Butler-Green-Olynyk could be a pretty scary unit with good size.

Expand full comment

Plus you can bench him for a half dependent on matchups ala Zaza and know he won't be a malcontent.

Expand full comment

It's absolutely pending buy out situation... only question is where they'll land.

Expand full comment

Luka's 73pt game has to be the least memorable big scoring game in history because I legitimately forgot about it until now

Expand full comment

How about Booker's 70 pointer? That's pretty forgettable to me...

Expand full comment

Do you remember Donovan Mitchell and Dame each scoring 71 a week apart from each other? lol

Expand full comment

Uh... vaguely...

Expand full comment

That was memorable because they kept fouling down 15, so they could get him more shots, lol!

Expand full comment

Eric, when are we getting the EA/Perks buy out discussion? I know we all want Booker and Wemby to get bought out, so they can come play with Steph, but is that realistic?!?!?!

Expand full comment

I haven’t finished editing the long conversation. I hope it will be ready on the day after the next Warriors loss or day off

Expand full comment

Hopefully it's after the next day off. Let's not lose any for awhile!

Expand full comment

You forgot Giannis.

Expand full comment

I’d settle for Wiggs

Expand full comment

Can't take him back in a buy out... I know that violates the rules.

Expand full comment

Wiggins gets to lock down Tatum in his first action with the Heat, today at 4:30.

Expand full comment

Deja vu...

Expand full comment

Dame listed as questionable with hamstring issue. @Dame, it's a SEGABABA without Giannis, after winning the first game, with only a few games left before the ASB... better sit this one out, my man.

Expand full comment

Not sure what scares me more: tired Dame or up-and-coming bench role player with fresh legs and something to prove.

Actually, I'm sure: without looking at the Buck's roster, generically it's the latter.

Expand full comment

This was exactly what I was thinking too... haha... how about Dame, you play but take it easy on the hammy?

Expand full comment

Whenever Steph sees Dame defending him, he gets excited.

Expand full comment

You saying 63 incoming?

Expand full comment

[looks at roster] Oh goody, Ryan Rollins.

Expand full comment

Hey! I’m still a fan of his!

Expand full comment

I forgot the /s

Yeah 'fresh legs and something to prove' fits pretty well, let's hope he doesn't go off tonight

Expand full comment

He logged 44 minutes yesterday

Expand full comment

He definitely doesn't need to press things against a low tier Western Conference team, then

Especially since it's in MIL. He doesn't have to show out for the Oaktown fam.

Interesting. Remaining strength of schedule (worst first)

1 PHO 2 MEM 3 DEN 5 LAC 9 LAL 10 SAC ------ 19 GSW

Given the aftermath of the trade deadline, + strength of schedule, PHO & SAC look positioned to struggle. Even with a good effort, both teams feel like they may be hand-cuffed to .500 the rest of the season. LAC & MIN look to be arm wresting for the coveted final playoff spot at 6.

Dallas must feel absolutely snake bit, and by their own bosses. Plus, no Giannis and missing AD twice in the next couple weeks.

In other words, it looks like there is a wide open lane for us to get that 8 spot, resulting in a home Play In game. Not worried about SAS or POR who are better, but starting this 30 game race a little far back.

At least from here, it's looking like a 1st round match-up with OKC may be in the cards.

Expand full comment

Where does DAL sit as far as SoC?

Expand full comment

22nd, a few spots easier than us :(

Expand full comment

Right now, I'm drinking the WGBC-aid, and I'm thinking that while our floor is missing the play-in completely, our ceiling with Jimmy is as high as it's been since our last championship season. Most of the weaknesses this team has were at least partially addressed by the Jimmy acquisition. It took me a little while to grok that, and it still amazes me.

Expand full comment

I want to believe but I'm not in WGBC mode yet. I'm guardedly optimistic about the Jimmy Effect. Let's see whether the rest of the team will come through. (Buddy, I'm especially looking you.) Also, need to stay healthy, especially our OGs.

As for the long term, without Williams but with Knecht and the 2031 first-round pick? "That was a lot [to give up]," a team source said. "We kind of dodged a bullet."

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/43764432/inside-most-chaotic-transformational-nba-trade-deadline-los-angeles-lakers-history-lebron-james-luka-doncic

Lets call this for what it is. Lakers FO had buyers remorse post trade and clung to Williams’ medicals to rescind the trade

Expand full comment

Yeah, probably good for them long term, but they are worse off this year than if MW came and was decent. They may be wasting Lebron's final years, we'll see.

Expand full comment

I could see that. It was certainly a lot to give up.
