Jimmy Butler has been added to the injury report tonight vs Suns. Questionable with lower back soreness. Front side of a back-to-back for the Warriors (at Kings tomorrow).
Seems to me that the issue is actually lack of fire - tire or otherwise. The other question besides health is what motivates the older guys. None of the current big three have appeared all that engaged to me past the Denver game. One wonders if their experience in pacing the season has kicked in a bit too hard. Can't save yourself for a playoff series you don't get to, and early wins help you coast later. I'd feel much better if we see Steph and Co. come out tonight with game faces on and making at least an attempt to burn the house down.
He brought that on himself, chasing more money and a larger role. Of COURSE it comes with high expectations, ypu asked for a big salary and multi year contract
Didn't he actually turn down a larger $ contract from the Ws the year before?
Yeah, he seemed to want a larger role, and thought he could get that elsewhere.
And yes of course there are high expectations that he must deal with, but I can understand he might be a little frustrated... just as most aging stars become.
There were a lot of dominoes that unexpectedly fell in Dallas but yeah...things have been at least more steady in GS and the FO aren't a bunch of wankers either.
Players to watch: Mark Williams and Khaman Maluach. MW because he's exactly the type of young cheap legit all-round big I wish the dubs had: good rate stats, puts in the effort on defense, put him out there to bang for 20-25 minutes and see if your score margin isn't a bit improved by the time he sits. He was damaged goods when the flakeshow rescinded the trade of him for dalton knecht on what was likely a pretextual medical reason. He's shown no signs of medical issues since. He was paid $4.1 mil last year, $6.3 mil this year. Dubs or anyone else likely could have had him for a couple 2nd round picks. You don't have to give him a fat multi-year deal, just two single seasons to match the core 3's remaning contracts.
Maluach because he's a legit 7'2" widebody with hops and very soft hands. The sort who tips your lame-assed lane floater to himself to start the fast break instead of swatting it into the stands (idiots in the crowd prefer the latter). He has the physical tools and high motor to be "the next (insert name of your preferred iconic defensive big here)". Now he needs minutes and seasoning, and sunbug fans are rightfully demanding to know why on a non-contending team he's not getting them. Look for him to have a fill the stat sheet breakout 20 minutes then get pulled before he fouls out. He was taken 10th in the draft and is likely a steal, likely would have gone much higher but king mangolini decreed prohibited all visas from south sudan. guess the team found a workaround for that.
TJD's had a string of DNP-CDs, with the sunbugs' 3 legit centers plus 6'10" ighodaro, TJD should get some run tonight.
I’ve been curious about how the Suns managed to make it work with Maluach’s situation. Revoking those visas was an act of such stunning and senseless cruelty—we’re talking a hundred, maybe two hundred people, basically all of whom grew up amid civil war and/or forced displacement, and who managed by sheer force of talent and perseverance to become international scholars, or athletes. Failing to value that sort of achievement… it just says everything, really.
Anyway, go Khaman! (Just maybe wait one more game before taking the league by storm 😊)
What a trade deadline for the NFL thanks to extremely desperate teams

We've arrived at the how-to-load-manage-stars-that-would-not-trigger-the-rule stage of the season.
Manage the injury reports to not trigger gambling related scandal inquiries..... ?
Just an idle passing thought- no inside info or real interest !

This looks familiar....but I don't blame him for being upset. Mavs screwed him over and his minutes are getting reduced by the game.

Klay Thompson was very upset as he left the court following the Mavericks' loss against the Rockets last night

He could have easily slipped into the Buddy Hield role of shooting as much 3s as he wants while playing below average defense.
Think you got it just right.
A 'healthy' Melt will help in getting Steph open. Big Al will be fine.
Uncertain rotation patterns will often get a team out of rhythm.
It's a long season.

From the last two comments, it looks like great minds think alike!
I have a suggestion that might help the Warriors. Rest Horford on both nights of a back to back.

Yeah, forgot to mention: want maluach to have a breakout game in a losing cause.
I assume the visa "problem" was fixed the usual way this year, 7 figure campaign donation in the right spot.
The NBA plays too many games. It is a joke that the Lakers beat Portland in Portland without Luka, LeBron and Reeves.
It is all about intensity. 100 pct of an average player beats 75 pct of good or all star level players.
The reason OKC is so good is because they have so many guys that are hungry and their best players don’t play uninspired.
Laker fans are hilarious.

The Lakers just beat a playoff contender without Luka, Austin, and Lebron — this team is serious.
stupid metric update:
- still the same weighting (but I can automate the calculations now, so if anyone's interested in different weighting/factors)
- I also did last year post-Butler trade (I'll post later if anyone's interested)
- this year's results are . . . not as pleasing as the last time I did it
Weight the Games Before Calculating (WGBC) scores (through yesterday's games - still very early, of course):
(the numbers/scores are points from (in order): home wins, home losses, road wins, road losses)
Los Angeles Lakers 8 -9 19.5 0 Total score: 18.5
Oklahoma City Thunder 7 0 9 0 Total score: 16
Chicago Bulls 14 0 4.5 -3 Total score: 15.5
Detroit Pistons 8 -4.5 10.5 -1 Total score: 13
Portland Trail Blazers 8 -7.5 13.5 -3 Total score: 11
Miami Heat 7 0 9 -7 Total score: 9
Houston Rockets 2 -3 9 0 Total score: 8
Golden State Warriors 10 0 9 -11 Total score: 8
Others: Spurs 6, Philly 4.5, Suns -6.5, Washington -15.5, New Orleans -19, Brooklyn -23.5
Watched Draymond’s new pod and he didn’t sound all that worried, so I’m trying not to be.

Liking it already. Huge Nash fan here so love seeing him in convo with Steph any time it happens.
