Hello, for reasons explained before, I will be deleting all political discussion here. It’s nothing personal. I will also delete all direct replies to all pinned posts. Including this one.

Good to know that the world stage isn't deterring Kerr from running out his 3 guard lineup. I'm waiting for him to go with 5 guards, Curry, Holiday, Booker, Ant Man & Derrick White at center. Just so long as that ball keeps moving around and we continue to show the world how basketball is supposed to be played regardless of actually winning. I don't know, all the hype around this team has got me nervous.

I must say, if last impressions in SL mean anything, KEVIN KNOX was special in this semifinal. He went for a 31 point, 11 rebound, double-double in 30 minutes PT. He shot 70.6% on 11/17,FG--50% on 5/10,3pt--100% on 2/2,FT. He put the team on his back and almost pulled out a win...rest of team went 3/24 from 3pt!!! Dem are some serious numbers by a fine, 2-way player.

By and LARGE, this was a super SL for the DUBS; also, KUDOS to the Coach/es. My UNANIMOUS MVP of this SL experience, however, didn't take a single shot, but was a runaway prolific player. Talking about our founding scribe...PICK UP YOUR TROPHY AND TAKE A BOW, ERIC. AND, THANKS FOR THE JOURNEY.

"Rowe, 27, played regularly for Golden State’s NBA G League team last season, the Santa Cruz Warriors. He averaged 13.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals. He appeared in six Summer League games this month for the Warriors."

> Wenyen Gabriel Reflects Proudly After South Sudan’s First-Ever Game Against USA: "We don't have any indoor basketball courts in our Country. We don't have anything like that. Truly one of the most incredible sports stories I can remember. I hope, and trust, that Steve made sure the players on Team USA knew a little bit about the recent history of that region, and what Team South Sudan had to overcome even to arrive on that court yesterday. They (the US, that is) should feel privileged to have been part of it.

Post looks like a player. His airball aside, the guy is a shooter and no stiff. Use him right and they might have gotten another steal. Now if we could just put him in the machine and make him and TJD into one player…..

Knox played well but there is something about him.Over the course of the games it seemed like he was involved in a lot wierd little plays that made me scratch my head. I think those plays would be even more pronounced vs real NBA competition. No thanks.

The Plowden train got derailed a bit today but he deserves that contract.

Spencer is a nice story and he has played well but I think he tops out at 14th or 15th guy when all is truly said and done.

Now we will see what happens.

Have enjoyed Spencer, but two telling turnovers in the last minute could not have been more telling.

Sure they could have. Especially given that a two-play sample “tells” us effectively nothing.

Oh, come on, Scott. Kid played his heart out in SL....much better than STEPH ever was in SL with 19 ASSISTS AND 21 TURNOVERS, and look at what a great player he turned out to be....lol He saved the game with a great defensive play of a sure layup that would have put it away for MIAMI, and, then, he gave it away..It was his to give....

If Spencer turns out to be the next Steph, we've got this!

Lol...no doubt you've been spoiled by seeing a generational player relatively early in your lifetime...the probability of seeing another DUB with STEPH's game-changing impact is very slim...

"[Stein] There is a belief in some corners of the league that Utah's interest in Golden State's Brandin Podziemski, in combination with future draft compensation … is serious enough that it keeps alive the prospect of a Markkanen trade between now and Aug. 6."

"Yet there is also a growing belief leaguewide that the Warriors would be more willing to move Jonathan Kuminga in a Markkanen trade — or any big-swing deal — than Podziemski. To this point, however, it must be noted that Golden State's offers for Markkanen have centered around a package featuring Moses Moody and draft compensation without including Podziemski or Kuminga."

It’s just posturing to show we are trying to be better. We aren’t serious about LM if that’s the offer and their response is perfectly understandable.

So basically, we're still in the phase where both sides' offers are unrealistic. And even our offer doesn't make total sense from a long term perspective, unless we are planning to blow past the second apron next season. Then, we have Utah asking for all of our draft assets in the next 5+ years and the last 3 years. Totally unreasonable.

I'm a big Moody fan but I know his value is low. We should keep him and give him a chance at consistent playing time. He still has the potential to be a high level 3&D wing, who can guard 1-3 and small 4s. His mentality is exceptional. I'm betting on him to become a key role player (4-5th starter, HB role) on a championship caliber team.

As much as it would hurt to lose Kuminga because he has the highest ceiling of all our young players, it's moderately difficult for me to see how his style fits in for the next 3 years. Granted, I'm making assumptions about his mentality and who I think he sees himself as a player, but I get the sense he wants to be a first/second scoring option making plays first for himself off the dribble. Unfortunately, his handle and perimeter shooting aren't where they need to be for that style to help us win now. IMO, his best skill at this moment is cutting off the ball and finishing in/around the paint. Factor in that he'll be demanding a big payday, so for me he seems like the player we can part with to get a player like Markkanen. At the same time, we shouldn't have to give up potentially high lottery level draft assets in the post Curry/Dray era.

Utah has correctly identified our most valuable (to us) non-pick asset (that's maybe on the table) in Podziemski. I doubt he develops into more than the third best player on a championship team, but he brings pass-first, ballhandling/facilitating to our offense that we don't have a ton of. Including him in a deal for Markkanen wouldn't be a non-starter for me, but we would definitely need to retain a couple draft picks (ie 4 picks instead of 6) if he is.

All this said, the most realistic offers are..

Kuminga, GP2, Looney, 2 picks, 1 swap

Podz, GP2, Looney, 2 picks, 2 swaps

So it's "confirmed" that Warriors never put Podz or Kuminga in LM trades offers?

Expand full comment

As confirmed as the internet tells us it is

That’s cool and all if true…that’s the part of Lacob’s comments about he and Mike also being “stubborn in a way”, but it’s going to take more to get LM.

So if that’s the end all be all for the Warrior brass, time to move on

Trade Wiggins for a lightly-protected pick; sign Knox; the pick becomes unprotected in 2026, wins the lottery; Knox posterizes Luka in the WFC, Warriors beat the Celtics in the Finals. (is over-reaction season over?)

Close enough to hurt. I know this is the Summer League, but I hope that isn't the theme of the actual Warriors for their upcoming season.
