Series lead party thread: Golden State wins on the road!
Warriors have a chance to advance with a win at home Friday
When asked about it, Stephen Curry is known to say that he modelled his game as a combination of Reggie Miller and Steve Nash. Tonight was a night to channel the latter as Curry went cold from deep, but had one of the weirdest, most memorable dagger shots of his illustrious playoff career.
The Warriors pulled away at the end of what had been a tight game all night, putting a stamp on it with a solid 123-116 victory on the road - a rare feat during the regular season.
Tough night for the coveted Warrior Wonder award, so let’s just talk about that.
Curry was at the center of the fray, ending up with 31 points and 8 assists in 42 hard fought minutes. And dude… that late play where he ran around like Steve Nash for 10 seconds with the game on the line and eventually ended up with an easy old man half hook shot in the post for an And-1? Beautiful.
Ugh. That’s right. Elon broke twitter, but the video is a fun watch if you want to click through, you can see it here.
Draymond Green was amazing too. He looked for his offense early and often, and then (of course) contributed with a series of incredibly clutch defensive plays down the stretch.
But I could also see some cases to be made for Kevon Looney, who pulled down 22 rebounds and did so much all over the court. Guys like Wiggins and Payton were enormously important. I can’t decide. I love them all. They are all Warrior Wonders tonight.
Just kidding. Draymond Green gets my vote. His biggest scoring night since before the pandemic - and it couldn’t have been more welcome.

It's funny - I loved Giannis' comments yesterday when I first heard them. But after waking up today, I realized that I didn't actually agree. In professional sports, as in life, there is success and failure. If you set a common goal (e.g., win the championship), and you miss the mark so badly (e.g., get gentleman-swept in the first round to the 8th seed, after blowing back-to-back double digit 4th quarter leads), it's hard to see how that's not failure. You can learn and grow and come back stronger next year, but you still failed this time.
Love Giannis, but imagine if KD or Lebron or even Steph had said the same thing. I think they would be torn to shreds by the media and general public.
