If we lose tonight … it'll just be further evidence that we can't win without Otto. And can't lose with him. :-)

Warriors starting Moody tonight, playing Wiggins at the 4 and Klay at the 3.

I was just listening to the Thinking Basketball podcast episode about the top 10 PGs in the league and they spent like 45 minutes debating between Harden/Trae/Luka/Ja/CP3 for the 2-6 spots and then they said Steph's #1, no arguments whatsoever and the episode basically ended there lol.

We've been really good defensively even without Draymond. Is it crazy to think Looney has a shot at all-defense 2nd team? Dude's really good defensively.

Gobert obviously has #1 locked up, for 2nd team Loon's usual major competition in AD, Bam, Myles Turner and Brook Lopez have all missed time. Embiid might get it, but I don't think he's been nearly as good defensively this year. Am I missing anyone obvious?

According to this:

http://powerrankingsguru.com/nba/strength-of-schedule.php

Warriors had the 16th hardest schedule so far, while the Suns have the 24th hardest schedule so far. Warriors have the 23rd hardest remaining schedule while the Suns have the 27th hardest remaining schedule.

Wait, how is that possible? Aren't the Suns supposed to have a harder remaining schedule left than us?

Can someone please analyze then Suns schedule and identify the plausible losses and make it a big number? I’m getting nervous.

For anyone concerned about claiming the #1 seed (which may be more valuable this year than usual, with an increasingly clear Top 3 in the West followed by a pretty big drop off): it looks like the Ws have the inside track in the event of a tie.

If the Warriors win the last H2H game (at Chase): Warriors win the tiebreak, by virtue of going 3-1 in H2H games.

If the Warriors lose the last H2H but still end up tied: Warriors still probably win the tiebreak, cos the next tiebreaker is division record, where the Ws currently have a three-game lead in the loss column.

The more likely scenario is winning the H2H game, obviously, since they’d then only have to make up 2.5 games in the rest of their schedule, as opposed to 4.5 games if they lose the last H2H.

Huh, the 'Dre discussion below made me look up BPM for the current season, and I was somewhat surprised:

https://imgur.com/a/6nnjUYs

For those too lazy to click:

Stephen Curry: 6.2

Gary Payton II: 5.3

Otto Porter Jr.: 4.5

Draymond Green: 4

Andre Iguodala: 3.3

Klay Thompson: 2

Andrew Wiggins: 1.7

Nemanja Bjelica: 1.3

Kevon Looney: 0.1

Jordan Poole: -0.2

Juan Toscano-Anderson: -0.3

Damion Lee: -1.5

Jonathan Kuminga: -2.7

Moses Moody: -5.4

Chris Chiozza: -5.9

GP2 2nd in the team on limited minutes (perhaps the limited minutes are why? Kerr does seem to play him in a very niche role). OPJ has climbed to 3rd on the team!!!! Dray 4th, Dre 5th makes sense and passes the smell test.

Klay has already climbed to 6th on the team in BPM! That's insane given how poorly he's been shooting. I surmise that part of it must be his own gravity. Defenses are stretched thin with both Splash Bros, so even if they shoot low percentage, the rest of the team feasts.

Wiggs 7th makes sense. Bjeli 8th and Looney 9th really surprised me. Bjeli's defensive RPM is even higher than Looney's which I don't understand at all. Anyone have any thoughts why? Just a noisy stat? Role differences? Looney plays against starters, Bjeli against backups?

Poole down at 10th was also surprising. But note that he also has the 3rd highest minutes load (maybe 4th on a per game basis when Green's back). So volume offsets production. But I wouldn't be surprised if he's the main guy who loses minutes during the playoffs. The rookies down at the bottom makes sense, too. Note that JK is still below both JTA and D-Lee. And of course, Cheese brings up the backend of the roster (I left out Dowtin/Quinn for noise reasons).

It’s weird to be thinking of Looney as “pivotal”, but I wonder what our record would be in games sans Dray$ and Iguodala without him.

I searched the available free agent list. It's interesting just scrolling through them how many of them I can remember serious pre-draft hype for. I don't know if that was GMs or fans or what, but I can remember when they were The Next Big Thing or Next Medium Sized Thing. Thon Maker is an example, Dante Exum, Jabari Parker, Tacko Fall, our guy Samilagic. Just reinforces the well known point that it's hard to make it in the NBA whether due to injury, failure to improve or work hard, or just overestimated in the first place.

So I am not in position to advise Bob Meyers, but I think he should take a good hard look instead at a proven vet who can handle the ball, pass, and already has experience with the Warrior system. He's readily available and handsomely bearded: Brad Wanamaker. #TeamBrad #WannaMake Who's with me? Anyone? Hello?

It’s been raining all day down here Houston, expecting a lot of splashing to happen tonight. Splurged on a nice seat by the warriors bench, hopefully they don’t play down to the opponent!

You ask "How?" the Warriors defense has been so good and held up... and then no mention of Kevon Looney ...??

To me the 2nd most important defender on the team after Draymond. He has been healthy this year. Kerr seems to trust him more. The other players often recognize his value to the team. He is included in the offense some.

Often times important contributions to winning basketball games are not so obvious with the flashy plays or even evident in statistics... and I think Kevon has been doing a lot this year that is responsible for the Warrior's record.
