Loss is a loss but silver lining is Draymond looking like the old Dray. Idk how long he can play at this level but he was awesome tonight

A Bench loss. Beli’s Braun got a shout out from Jokic after the game

All Nuggets starters were negative on plus/minus; all Dubs starters were positive.

It felt like there were two key momentum killers during the 4th quarter comeback:

(1) JMG cutting the wrong way and Steph's pass missing him by a mile.

(2) Foul call on Dray during an awesome defensive stop of Jokic.

Both of them felt like they slowed or stalled out a run. Still, the Dubs got it within 1, and then Joker nailed a crazy bomb.

The crazy thing on the Dray "foul" is....Jokic made the shot on the fadeaway.

The second unit was what lost us this game. I think it's time to pull the plug on Wiseman-Kuminga together. They were the worst unit last game too. Wise had a pretty nice offensive game but his defense was pretty awful today. Made DeAndre Jordan look like prime DAJ. DDV was also ugly today. And Poole was super tentative. Combine it all in one lineup and well that second quarter happens.

Credit to Denver though. They had an answer every time it seemed like the Dubs had a shot. And it wasn't just Jokic. KCP and Brown were great pickups and hit some tough shots today. Fun game and had a 15% chance to steal it when it should have been 0%.

Agreed. Kuminga JMG Wiseman second unit was abysmal defensively. Couldn't protect the rim or contest jumpers effectively. Offensively the spacing was horrible and Poole and DDV were just dribbling into a packed paint.

No synergy or chemistry yet. It could get better. I don’t like the hockey sub approach Steve Kerr used. I think we did much better with more staggered substitution patterns

Ayton misses both FTs. Suns get the rebound, but they don't have enough time to shoot. Blazers win 113-111.

Expand full comment

Well that’s something on a disappointing day.

Expand full comment

#maxcontract lol jk.

The Ayton narrative is a no win situation for him

Expand full comment

I think we can all agree Denver is a *strong* contender. This was without Jamal Murray, who pushes Bones back in the rotation 😯

Expand full comment

Oh, right. I forgot about him. Murray is probably gonna improve the Nuggets defense even more.

Idk, I think it depends on how long he takes to start playing like himself. Knee injuries are hard to recover from physically but also mentally. I think one of his strengths was attacking the basket. I could imagine that being hindered by the physical and mental aspects of his injury. Also shiftiness and stopping is often difficult to initially recover and feel comfortable/natural doing

Murray is not a good defender.

Nurkic fouls Ayton, but Ayton misses the first FT.

Sunday it’s the Kangz and good friend Mike Brown. Then our virtual seven game road trip in ten nights including both our games against Miami. Gonna be a rough one, gotta make sure we take care of business Sunday.

Okay I book the first visit of the season with the cardiologist. Damn, so early.

Nuggets need to close out games much better if they want to contend this year. Efforts like tonight won't get the job done.

Expand full comment

They did nearly make a comeback against the Jazz a couple of nights ago, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Expand full comment

In fairness, they were playing the champs.

Blazers-Suns tied with 33.9 seconds left to go in OT.

Must be D Lee time

That Poole bucket should of been an and 1, overall great game that was entertaining. The bench kinda killed us this game imo

Expand full comment

Yeah but we committed uncalled fouls on Den to get that turnover

Expand full comment

Idk I don’t think the refs could reward bones for running to a spot you should almost never run to when you are getting trapped. Both of those out of bounds lines are like defenders. I was hoping for the momentum home court call

Expand full comment

It would have been a super weak and 1 to tie a game. I'm good with the no call.

I don’t really think that would of been a weak call and I think if he missed the shot then they would of called a foul. I’m not extremely upset over the no call but I think it could of easily been called a foul

Expand full comment

Like the super weak and one where Dray didn’t really foul Jokic? It needs to be consistent.

Expand full comment

Yeah and more importantly that would have stopped the quick score on the other end… ah well

Expand full comment

So, Brown was WIDE open and it was a fine pass but c’mon, the hyperventilating is getting tiresome. Whatever.

Expand full comment

Entertaining game! Doesn’t really sting.

Expand full comment

I hate losing but I did predict 6-4 start to the season.

Expand full comment

@ Suns, @ Hornets, @ Heat, and @ Pelicans are gonna be tough games.

Expand full comment

Not so sure about Hornets, but the others, definitely. This game was a bit of a slap to the face. Denver will be a contender. The team is bigger and deeper than we are. Their bench outplayed ours and until the Warriors begin to get some defense and scoring out of them, it's going to be hit or miss. Don't know why Poole is not shooting more. DDV's shot missing. I thought the bench was stronger.

Expand full comment

Eh. The Hornets are bad, and those others are a'ight.

Expand full comment

That definitely softens the blow!

Expand full comment

Glad Jokic is OK after that collision

Expand full comment

Dirty Dray?

Expand full comment

Nope. Held himself up with one hand while making sure to push Jokic's leg to safety with the other.
