Lakers are guaranteeing contracts for Austin Reaves and Wenyen Gabriel. Nets will guarantee contracts for Yuta Watanabe, Edmond Sumner, and Markieff Morris.
So, two days ago, Mrs. Goofus and I were playing long toss with the Frisbee on the beach, like we do 3 or 4 days a week for cardio. I reached up with my left hand to make a catch and immediately felt pain shooting through my shoulder, grabbed it and knew something was wrong. I’ve been in a sling and it’s getting better, but I think I curry’d myself with a subluxation.
The bad news: Unlike Curry, this is my dominant hand.
More bad news: Unlike Curry, I don’t have a highly-trained medical staff to micro-manage my recovery.
Even more bad news: Unlike Curry, my track record of faithfully following rehab programs is pretty dismal.
The good news: Unlike Curry, this injury will in no way affect your quality of life, unless you’re eagerly anticipating exciting whale footage from me as stand-up paddling is out for a bit.
Most of the work I do there won’t be too bad with some help from Mrs. Goofus. Loading hay and emptinb water troughs for the deer, goats and sheep will be a challenge, but we’ll figure it out. Sometimes I’ve had to carry an injured deer that’s arrived, but that’s uncommon.
Generally you should be able to avoid further injury/pain if you keep your elbow below shoulder level. If you do have to reach up, rotate your arm such that you put a twist to the wrap of muscles that cover your shoulder joint. Like the way a rope gets stronger as it twists and tightens up, putting a twist on these muscles tightens up the joint. Throwing anything baseball style, is a bad idea, as this is when the joint is least stable. Good luck
re: Moody's defense since I saw a comment downthread about it.
Athl. Alch. mentioned that he thinks Moody's issue is that he still thinks he's more athletic than his competition. He pushes up on defense too much, and guards in the NBA are just too quick for him, so he ends up fouling to prevent them from getting past him. Alch says that Moody needs to give them more space, and use his length to his advantage. He's bigger and longer than most guards, so back off a step or two and close the angles using length. They may get the quicker first step, but since you're bigger and longer, he should be able to cut off the driving angle, and defend and funnel appropriately.
Look how long it's taking Wiseman to learn how to screen.
All of the prospects have some fairly deep flaws (Kuminga, dribbling and shooting; Moody defense and finishing at the rim; Poole, dribbling, and a reliable 3; Wiseman, defense and screening).
They may or may not get the time to remediate their worst weaknesses before the Dubs give up on them, and trade them all for Kelly Olynyk.
I’m just wondering how the how much space thing can be a recurring issue. you have to constantly adjust that Moody issue based on who you’re up against. It’s not like the other guys’ issues on your list, that guys have gone full careers without significantly improving: looking at you Shaq.
Moody should be used to making those adjustments in game.
Clippers are playing their bench for the rest of the game. They have a game tomorrow in Minnesota, and there's no way they can win tonight due to them down by a ton of points.
The Clippers won't ever win a championship. I think Kawhi got his ring and said screw it, I'm going home and will play basketball on my own terms from now on.
Apparently yanking another player out of bounds by the shoulder to prevent him from getting to a rebound, and using the momentum to propel forward to get it yourself is now a legal move ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
> Stewart (DET) and Green (GSW) briefly engage and disengage as they pursue the rebound. CNC
We’re only halfway thru the regular season and Green already has 12 technicals. I really don’t trust Green to control himself to not get a T. Take last night. I’m sure he knows that refs always give a T to both opposing players even if the aggrieved player reacts in any way to defend himself. And since it’s Green, it’s almost an automatic T from the refs because of his reputation. He needs to control himself. If he didn’t get ejected last night, he could have been the one guarding Bey and prevented that last shot. Who knows? which is why, he needs to stop with the technicals.
I don't want to turn DubNationHQ into a mastodon tutorial because.. well, wrong place unless @apricot or @dubdubdub want me to but this link should help a little bit.
I really hope Kuminga and Wiggins are back for Orlando. The guys were noticeably gassed by the end. I feel like even if Bey missed that shot, we would have been run off the court in OT from exhaustion.
In other news, John Hollinger in the Athletic rated the sophomore class. He dotes on Franz Wagner (8th pick, right after Kuminga) and overall is disappointed in the progress of this draft group. His analysis seems pretty reasonable at a high level. For we rabid fans, here’s what he wrote about Kuminga:
“The Warriors may rue taking Kuminga ahead of Wagner with the seventh pick in 2021, but of late, he’s begun to round into the player they hoped he might become. Kuminga’s defense and energy have factored prominently in several recent Warriors wins — most notably in the closing minutes of a recent win over Charlotte.
Kuminga is still just 20 years old and won’t turn 21 until October, and if he can pair his elite athleticism for his size with more skill development, he’s going to be a problem.
However, I can’t put him in a tier higher than this when his overall production is actually substantially down from a season ago. Kuminga still really struggles from the perimeter (25.8 percent from 3, 67.2 percent from the line), which limits his offensive capability in the half court. He’s also a very mistake-prone player, with high rates of turnovers (17.4 percent of possessions this season) and fouls (5.9 per 100 possessions).
That said, Kuminga’s best moments can rank with almost anyone’s on this list, and he could have All-Defense selections in his future. His combination of youth and obvious athleticism make him a real threat to breakout at some point; it just hasn’t happened yet. Unhelpfully, he hurt his ankle last week and is out of the lineup after what had been his best stretch of the season.”
“What Moody has done … has remained slightly underwhelming. One can still see pathways to 3-and-D relevance, especially if he hunts 3s a bit more willingly (he’s at 36.8 percent career from 3 on 8.3 attempts per 100 possessions). Defensively, he’s been … OK. Fine. Nothing special, but he’s not hurting you.
Unfortunately, he’s shown zero juice off the dribble, and, as a result, his shot creation is a bit too anemic to claim any kind of meaningful role … especially if he isn’t going to go wild hunting 3s on the move. Moody is only 20, so there is obvious growth potential remaining. But he’s not a freak athlete, so his progress needs to happen as a result of skill development.“

Take care and feel better, Goofus!
A mandatory break from stand-up paddling doesn’t sound too bad, as injuries go. :-)
Thanks! Biggest issue is some of the work at the animal shelter.
Hope you feel better soon. Doesn't sound like fun. I'm guessing your pitching career is over.
That ended when I was coaching youth baseball and throwing 200+ pitches a day of BP…and also when I separated my shoulder in a ski crash.
Thanks for the note.
Do you have to lift heavy animals in your animal rescue work? Hoping not. The world needs people like you.

Also, I have no idea what putting a twist on the wrap means. 🤷♂️
Call me crazy but I would be interested to see what the Warriors do to the league if they have no all-stars.
Steph’s making it easily. He and Luka are already a million miles ahead of all other Western guards (and Steph is pretty far ahead of Luka).
Wiggs and Klay will probably make it, too.
But that fan vote is only going to help Steph get in. So far, Wiggs is too far back it looks like, to get voted as a starter

That’s a good analysis of what we are seeing. So why is he taking so much time adjusting?

Olynyk! Can they swing Crowder too???

Probably tough to unlearn what you’ve always done and find the right balance between too tight and backing off too much.
Gui Santos scores 25 for Santa Cruz, only saw one play of his online but it's solid:
https://twitter.com/GLeagueWarriors/status/1611207709759787008
We're going to look like the Harlem Globetrotters next year if we sign him to a two-way.
Steph, Poole, Santos is a lot of hot dog.
Showtime Warriors man
Nuggets beat the Clippers 122-91.
And it wasn't even that close, lol.
Kawhi and PG in a marquee WC matchup combine for … 9 points on 3-16 FG.
Clippers with only 7 turnovers in a 31 point loss.
That's what shooting .03% from 3 can do for you.
Clippers are playing their bench for the rest of the game. They have a game tomorrow in Minnesota, and there's no way they can win tonight due to them down by a ton of points.
Go TWolves! Based on bleeding edge science assays, they will beat the Clippers by 52, determined by recent performances
Nuggets up 66-32 against the Clippers at halftime.
Now 90-49, but the Clips are 10-10 at the foul line, so they got that going for them!
The Clippers won't ever win a championship. I think Kawhi got his ring and said screw it, I'm going home and will play basketball on my own terms from now on.
Kawhi got his ring and then his body failed him over and over again - he's not playing on his own terms at all anymore.
His body is playing on its own terms?
It does seem like that!
Kawhi: (-24, 18 minutes)
6 points, 2/7 FGs, 0/2 threes, 2/2 FTs
3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 1 steal
George: (-16, 14 minutes)
3 points, 1/9 FGs, 1/5 threes
3 rebounds, 1 assist
Oh wow. Markkanen with 43 points on 13/24 FGs, 4/12 threes, 13/13 FTs.
Make that 49 points on 15/27 FGs, 6/15 threes, and 13/13 FTs.

why isn't it an outside agency, silly to have the nba investigate the nba
It's not an investigation. It's a PR move.
Dray was boxing him out… Stewart gets to use his arms too…
About to become only 2 games behind 4 seed… with Wiggins and Curry coming back soon.
And probably 2 hours away from 0.5 games behind the 6 seed
Well that escalated fast… Denver with a 61-23 lead with just over 3m left in the first half…

The longer rest between games and the fact that the Detroit game was not 2OT will probably help.
dray's ejection woulda really hurt in OT
JK's timeline is looking like at least 2 weeks.
Wiggs probably will be; Jon probably won’t be. But totally agreed.
Some idiots on the NBA app (Channing Fry and Greg Anthony) left Steph out of the AllStar Selection for the West. Unbelievable.
Channing Frye is a perennial Warriors hater so this does not surprise me.
Who they got? Doncic, Morant, Dame, and SGA because Steph is injured? Prob put Booker in front too, even though he’s out too… whatever.

That seems like a pretty fair assessment of Moody.
Foot… but when you’re just a numbers guy, what’s the difference!
