Postgame party thread: Warriors even series with another win!
Whew. It got sloppy and wild at the end, but the champs handled their business at home!
Draymond Green came off the bench in his return, and struggled offensively, but came up huge - as did a bunch of other members of the Golden State Warriors’ core - in the win. It was a wild finish. With the game down to the final few possessions and a minutes left, Stephen Curry called a timeout the team didn’t have. That’s a technical foul. Free throw to the bad guys and possession.
But the Sacramento Kings fell juuuuust short. It was a scene all too familiar to Warriors fans, as Harrison Barnes clanged out an important three-point attempt in a playoff game.
Curry had 32, Klay Thompson had 26, and I about had a heart attack.
Weird ref impact tonight. Or maybe it was just that everything came down so close to the wire. The Kings just aren’t good enough to stop Curry. On the other end of the court, De’Aaron Fox was too fast, and too good at hitting shots. It was an off-the-dribble three from the poor-shooting electric speedster that made the game a little too uncomfortably tight.
Because Twitter is being weird about everything, we can’t embed clips anymore, but it is worth a visit to that hellhole to watch the last possession. Fantastic man defense from Curry, and then Barnes barely misses one of those hold your breath and pray threes at the buzzer. It rimmed out, which means that the Warriors got away with some crazy plays down the stretch today.
This series is even Steven now: two games each. See you in Sacramento on Wednesday for game 5.
Not to be a Debbie downer but man....it stuck out like a sore thumb live and on playback.
Early 2nd quarter, play gets blown up and Wiggs has to shoot the bail out midrange.
The ball bounces off the rim and to the other side. If Kuminga wasn't ball watching, he could have easily crashed the glass and tried to get us another possession.....instead he just stands there. The thing is this has been emphasized to him over and over and over again. Rebound. Box out.
You just cannot have that. At all. Even for all his athletic potential and the fact that he gives us a different dimension....he just doesn't have the chops yet for these important games when the margin for error is razor thin.
It was no surprise we didn't see him again.
We haven't played a game 7 since the Rockets series. I have a gut feeling we're headed towards that path. Doubt either team will go out in 6.
