Now let's be fair, Sac had Chris Webber and Mitch Richmond, both guys we never should have lost.
And if we're counting that Royals title, it opens up HOFers like Alex Hannum, the Big O, and Jerry Lucas. And of course, we need to add more Warriors, like Neil Johnston, Paul Arizin, and Guy Rodgers (who played in SF as well as PHI).
It seems getting Cam Johnson is going to very difficult without trading Draymond or Wiggs. Because of that incentive the Warriors have to trade 27 million in salary to match not his base salary 22. Might have to settle on Vucevic who would help too.
[Slater] Steph Curry will not play in Los Angeles against the Clippers tomorrow night. Managing his knee tendinitis on the front side of a back-to-back. Warriors are at home vs Suns on Saturday night. Draymond Green is questionable vs Clippers.
Well, we will get our first look at the Umlaut running the team. GP2 will also be out so we should be seeing some of the players who were cut from the rotation like SloMo, Waters, and Moody. Tough schedule is no friend to the Warriors.
At the 24-minute mark, he rails about a certain Warrior and says he should be traded. I won’t spoil it by saying who, but let’s just say Asher will disagree.
When you think about what Kuminga will be if his 3 ever gets better, it's definitely tantalizing. But there is a good argument that his lack of a fundamental feel for key aspects of the game holds back whatever team relies on him, and for that reason (and his expected future salary) I think the team should entertain trade ideas.
I won't lie I turned off the game after Steph's last 3 to tie it because I knew what was coming so I never saw the last play but people (on the other parts of the web) are turning on Wiggs for that? LOL
I haven't watched a replay but at the time I wondered where the low man was to back Wiggs up on that play. Tip of the cap to Reaves for getting by Wiggs, who has been playing great defense.
>>>The Suns are said to be interested in Chicago's Nikola Vučević and would seem to have an obvious pathway to making the Bulls an offer by attaching draft compensation to the contract of Jusuf Nurkić.
The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin reported this week that the Suns are actively shopping Nurkić. The new rules, however, prevent Phoenix from taking back more cash in a trade than it sends out. Nurkić is playing on 2024-25 salary of $18.1 million. Vučević is making $20 million this season. That's an easy match under the NBA's longstanding old rules, but the Suns can't swap Nurkić for Vučević now even if they were willing to attach every ounce of draft capital they possess. They also can't combine salaries in any trade, which rules out adding a minimum salary to the deal to ensure they exceed Vučević's $20 million.
The Grizzlies have been described to me as a team to watch in the trade chase for Brooklyn's in-demand Dorian Finney-Smith.
The Nets, league sources say, are likewise interested in Memphis' John Konchar, who has also attracted interest from Orlando and Miami and is emerging as a name that must be monitored as the Feb. 6 trade deadline approaches.<<<

In the article, we learn that Wiggs has a baby boy in the oven. I’d bet just about any amount of money that they name him after Mitchell.
"[Stein] "The Suns are said to be interested in Chicago's Nikola Vučević and would seem to have an obvious pathway to making the Bulls an offer by attaching draft compensation to the contract of Jusuf Nurkić."
Agreed! I had added “I’d like to see him up his volume, but if he can shoot over 40+% on open 3’s with all the other stuff he does, he’s definitely an important building block and can see why the team would be reluctant to trade him.”* but I must’ve accidentally deleted it as I was posting.
*I don’t subscribe to the “We’d have Lauri right now if only Lacob was willing to trade Podz.”
We *don't* need to talk about Andrew Wiggins, in the sense of "We need to talk about" meaning that there is some big problem.
And that's worth celebrating. I was quite disappointed, worried, confused, for about a year and a half there, and I daresay I was not the only one. He was timid, his shots weren't falling, he looked disengaged on defense, he got benched, he seemed possibly even done as a high level player.
In preseason we heard that things had changed. I don't want to go into the psychology of it all, it seems private and I don't know anything but what I read and it's a private situation. But suffice it to say that when Kerr said that Wiggins was "at peace" that seemed to provide hope for some kind of return to relevance.
And indeed it has. He is shooting 42% from three, the highest mark of his career and a full seven percentage points above last season. His defense has been at the same level it was when he was a real bulldog in the '22 playoffs. He's attacking well, he's passing and getting rebounds at levels matching his best, and is shooting 78% from FT, the best mark of his career. His body language has done a complete 180.
It's an interesting story in terms of team patience. I was frustrated when he was played substantial minutes when he was clearly not himself, but I'm glad he wasn't traded despite me joining the chorus of those who would have wished for that to be explored.
At this point? He's probably performing closer to his true potential than anyone on the team, giving full effort, and that's about as high value as you can ask.
I like his contract, I like his play, I like him right where he is. If there are problems on the Warriors, Andrew is the very last one on the list. And if his name is on the list, you got the wrong list.
The important takeaway is to trust your knowledge of the demonstrated historic performance and talent of a player, even when he is going through an underperforming period, due to what was known to be personal issues, and, not be swayed by temporal cries/proclamations of his demise...I never bought into it, as I never bought into the post-injury KLAY BS, the year after he led the league in 3pters made...
Goes beyond loyalty. Long ago I bought into WEST's assessment of the value of KLAY and/or DRAY when he went all out to win the argument of a trade for LOVE. He was SPOT-ON, as proven. KLAY's last season with us was an aberration to baseline from, particularly in view of aprons-avoidance-weighted contract negotiations and decisions. KERR/FO engaged in ''experimentation'' for 3/4 season, jerking KLAY around, only to bring him back to mostly the 'Ship starting lineup, too late for the team playoff spot. Off to his usual slow starts, and playing too long w/o DRAY/STEPH in the rotations, KLAY still finished customarily-strong, as the team's 2nd-leading scorer, a season after leading the NBA in 3pters made; albeit, a lot of all that was due to WIGG's extended absence/DRAY'S injury/suspension/other injuries/new personnel assessments/chemistry (PAUL, for example, was more of the penetrating-interior passing-middie jumper PG mold that KYRIE/LUKA/KIDD PLAY, with perimeter kickouts to perennial-NBA-leading-catch-n-shoot-KLAY a rare after-thought, as is now with KYRIE/LUKA in Dallas; not their game). There was little of the historic, dynastic, DUB ''lemonade'' that changed the NBA game.
Completely different situations. Klay was playing worse not because of some family matter but because he is aging and has had two catastrophic injuries, and I’m glad they didn’t re-sign him at high salary. His defense is much worse than at his peak and he’s still believing he’s the world’s best off ball shooter when he’s not. Good luck to him, had nothing to do with the Wiggins situation
I respect your assessment, but you are dead-wrong. If Dallas' awesome duo of hero-ball guards and KIDD figure out what we know is the best way/SYSTEM to utilize a historic generational shooting talent like KLAY, they will win a 'Ship, as he will prove to be a difference -maker. If they don't, they will not get over the also-ran hump. They may be forced as a matter of necessity if LUKA is out for a substantial period of time. Meantime, we are still trying to figure out a way to give STEPH/TEAM the lost gravity he needs to be successful; my assessment, DS ain't it.
Okay Dino, you can't rule out Klay, his wants, his desires in all of this. Now this is just speculation, but there were hundreds of subtle hints. Klay needed to leave, for Klay. Having a salary dispute with the organization was just fodder for the public. I don't think it was money. I don't think it was respect. I don't think it was his coach or teammates. I don't think it was the public's belief that he had lost a step because of the injuries.
I believe Klay saw ghosts. He lost 2 1/2 of his PRIME years to 2 devastating injuries. I believe the ghost of Klay past wondered about Chase Center and remaining a Warrior put him face to face with it on a daily basis. Klay didn't need to get away from the Warriors. He needed to get away from himself, from the place that was a constant reminder of who he was before the injuries.
Klay needed a clean slate. A new environment. A new challenge. A new apartment. Klay needed to find a new Klay that could easier let go of the old Klay.
Again, this is speculation, but it makes sense, especially when you take into account his pride and competitiveness.
Point being, there is a pretty good chance Klay left because Klay had to leave, and he had to leave for Klay. And if that was the case, all we can do is wish him the very best and keep being a fan.
Dallas’ situation works for Klay because they have two legitimate on and off-ball threats in Luka and Kyrie. Our non-Steph shooters have been bricking, are too scared to shoot or tied to the bench for inexplicable reasons.
Keeping Klay right now would be essentially having Buddy Hield with worse defense and a mega contract attached to it. I miss having Klay on the team but it makes perfect sense why he’s no longer with the Dubs.
Methinks Dallas is not as good a situation for KLAY as it was with us....It MAY materialize, but needs a different offensive mindset from KIDD and his two star guards. Remains to be seen if his dribble-penetration guards and KIDD'S offensive scheme will be able to kick the ball out to KLAY's sweet spots and rotations recognize and take advantage/keep going the magic that happens when KLAY sees the ball go through the net and gets into rhythm.
Well, that was obvious last season, also; WE WERE TOLD he was dealing with a bad personal situation. It was a time to keep the FAITH in here, not to TRASH WIGGS and talk TRADE. My thoughts on how we handled KLAY's situation in here, also...EXACTLY. Thankfully, to their great credit, KERR and the FO HANDLED THE SITUATION ADMIRABLY. I cannot say the same about the way KERR/FO handled the KLAY situation though.
Yeah, like I said I don't feel comfortable going too far into his private life, but that appears to be the story. And like you, I have a lot of compassion for it.
My hesitation is just that he hasn't said anything about it, as is completely his right and apparently, his style, so I am not going to draw conclusions based on secondary evidence. But we agree, that's probably what happened.
If the front office wants get bold, put together something around Draymond and Tobias Harris. Detroit is young and could use an on-court mentor. Detroit is the one NBA destination where Dray will be welcomed with open arms rather than water bottles thrown in his general direction. It wouldn't be a bad way to finish out his career, returning to Michigan, using more IQ than muscle. It would be a winning move by Detroit and it would allow GSW to forge a new path, rather than remain in the Play-In vortex they are in for the next 2 1/2 years.
I suspect it would have to be a two-fer as it would likely bring the Kerr era to an end. And folks saying Curry would leave? Nah. Klay left, no skin off Curry's back. He's a grown boy, his legacy is his own and he knows it will stand on its own whether or not he is dragging Dray and Kerr by his coattails. In fact, it's very likely Curry can see the end of this era already and knows it would be pointless to keep trying to resurrect it as he and Dray aren't getting any younger.
A few days ago, I tried Dray + JK for Isaiah Stewart, Ausar Thompson, and Malik Beasly, and it worked in the Fanspo Trade Machine.
Not sure why the Pistons would do it, but they are currently in Play-In range and might want Dray to guide them to their first playoffs in a while? Likely picks would need to be involved.
I just watched the replay. Another catch-up game with a random, close enough to hurt ending. Our margin of error is so small in almost all the games that we really need to make all our FTs. The Lakers were perfect from the FT line (18-18). We were 13-17 and lost the game by 2. Steph’s last minute shots were incredible but even he didn’t look happy with the last one that tied the game, as if he somehow knew that they weren’t going to win it. Maybe, GP2 should have been in there for the last six seconds for defense. We couldn’t even capitalize on AD’s injury, which left him out of the game after seven minutes into it. Sheesh.
And was Moody in the doghouse again? As well as KA? Hield had FIVE measly points. And he is suppose to be our second best shooter? At this point, I think not.
Game was entertaining but the joy was kinda short lived with the loss and the fact that the team is just spiraling downward.
if I were a neutral fan, last night was a fun game. Sadly, I am a hyperpartisan Dubs fan and last night hurts bad, even a bit more than the many close losses since it was the lakers and without AD.
That being said, the Lakers have actually dominated us with AD so I had already expected an L - still, it hurts and there is enough blame to go around for everyone.
My post xmas list would be to see this team without Dray - dont care much for anyone else except Steph at this point!
When the two Lakers locked arms on a free throw attempt to block Draymond and he pulled them both down, getting called for a foul, it called to mind that Draymond sees himself as The Punisher. Any perceived injustice against him on the court must be punished. He is *always* pulling down guys who he thinks fouled him. Personally, I don't like this aspect of his gameplay, but I get where he's coming from. Injustice, left unpunished, does suck.
This works in the spotrac trade machine but I do not know if it's definitely legal:
JK/Looney/GP2/Slomo for Cam Johnson/Shake Milton/Trendon Watford/Jalen Wilson
Would either team do it? Probably not.
Steph/Hield/Wiggins/Johnson/TJD
Schroder/Moody/Waters/Watford/Draymond
I dunno. I just want more guys who can credibly shoot.
Wonder when the last time a team dropped 50 points in the FOURTH quarter. Pretty impressive from the Hawks
Pistons come from 19 down to beat sac - jaden ivey gets fouled by Fox on a 3 pointer, which goes in and he gets the ft to get them the win 114-113

Warriors 👉👈Kings
(Spider-Man pointing meme)
Warriors 15-14, Kings 13-18.
Warriors 23 playoff series wins in the past decade, Kings 0 playoff series wins in past two decades.
Greatest all-time Warriors: Steph. Klay, Dray, Durant, Mullin, Hardaway. Rick Barry, Wilt. Greatest all-time Kings: ummm….
Warriors franchise: 7 titles. Kings: one title… as the Rochester (NY) Royals … 74 years ago.
But sure, Spider-Man pointing meme…
Now let's be fair, Sac had Chris Webber and Mitch Richmond, both guys we never should have lost.
And if we're counting that Royals title, it opens up HOFers like Alex Hannum, the Big O, and Jerry Lucas. And of course, we need to add more Warriors, like Neil Johnston, Paul Arizin, and Guy Rodgers (who played in SF as well as PHI).
You always got to take everything so seriously
What I meant is that both NBA teams in Nor Cal look bad right now.
did not realize that the kings went 0-5 in the 5 game homestand. Wow they are competing with the dubs to get to the bottom of the norcal teams :-)
It seems getting Cam Johnson is going to very difficult without trading Draymond or Wiggs. Because of that incentive the Warriors have to trade 27 million in salary to match not his base salary 22. Might have to settle on Vucevic who would help too.
It’d be very difficult to do a trade even WITH Draymond or Wiggs, requiring a 3rd team.
Without Draymond or Wiggs, it’s essentially impossible because being capped means they’re unable to send out more players than they take back.

Yeah, and unfortunately I think his trade value has probably plummeted:
* Knows he’s an RFA who’s more of a project
* His flaws are pretty obvious
Key. Lack of fundamental feel for the game. He will never become a superstar because of this.

Vooch’s massive efficiency leap at age 34 better be real, or that deal may not even be an upgrade for PHO.
Don't know if they need more offensive firepower at the 5. I'd be more scared if they end up getting someone like Time Lord
Same.
Lost in all the despair is that Podz’ horrific shooting slump on 3-pointers is now certainly over.
Since I reported here that he shot 44% over his previous 6 games, he’s now 14 for 29 (48%) over his last eight games.
I’d like to see him up his volume, but the guy is a legit contributor.
Think it coincided with them playing him more with a primary ballhandler
Schroder has only been with the team in four of those above-referenced last eight games.
As Attila said, it looks like it’s the injury that was holding him back.
Also it might coincide with an improvement in his health, if we believe what Kelenna said about dizziness.
PODZ is going to be fine...
His scoring volume is still bad
Amen. Not his fault though; KERR needs to assess...48% is good gravity...
Agreed! I had added “I’d like to see him up his volume, but if he can shoot over 40+% on open 3’s with all the other stuff he does, he’s definitely an important building block and can see why the team would be reluctant to trade him.”* but I must’ve accidentally deleted it as I was posting.

Yeah I agree with the last part, still not sure if he’s really worth that much as a low scoring 2.
If he is efficient from the 3, ups his volume a bit, it may work...

We shall see by the end of the season. Remember that we don’t get Hield, Waters or Anderson without trading him. And last year wasn’t working either.
Agree. I think Wiggins has been the most consistent player in the team right now.
In retrospect, dude was distracted by his dying dad. That makes all the sense in the world, and honestly it kind of makes me like Wiggins more.

I think we can say with close to certainty that that’s what happened over the last two seasons.
That was also reported on in a recent piece in TA with MT2 and the Wolves’ beat writer.
I just found the article and all I can say is that I literally have tears running down my face. Thanks a lot…you bastard. 🥲

Just my New Year's thought.
Not a big Harris fan.
It’s also hard to imagine Detroit wanting to pay over $60M over this season and the next two for a hothead to be their kids’ mentor.
Tobias Harris is incredibly bad in big games in the playoffs. It's a known thing. Super overrated.
Tobias freaking Harris? The Kirk Cousins of the NBA when it comes to robbing professional teams of money?!
I don't mind the idea of trading Draymond, and I like the idea of him in Detroit, but I don't see what adding Tobias Harris does for this team.
You get a guy miles worse from 3, but who takes more shots and is a worse defender and passer
You sound like you're in a similar place as me.
Great minds think alike :-)
When the two Lakers locked arms on a free throw attempt to block Draymond and he pulled them both down, getting called for a foul, it called to mind that Draymond sees himself as The Punisher. Any perceived injustice against him on the court must be punished. He is *always* pulling down guys who he thinks fouled him. Personally, I don't like this aspect of his gameplay, but I get where he's coming from. Injustice, left unpunished, does suck.
On the replay it didn’t look like they actually locked arms.
