Curry now has 29,574 career points in regular season, playoff, and play-in games. This puts him 20th in NBA history, and he need just 4 more points to pass Paul Pierce for 19th.
Only 17 other players have ever scored 30,000 or more career points in all NBA games played. Let's get Curry to that mark this season.
I'm sort of in disbelief myself at what I am about to write.
I kind of don't like playoff sports. It's too much pressure. Too much intensity. Most of all, though I just can't stand the wild inconsistency of the reffing. I hate in hockey how they 'let them play' and every moment someone is about to get CTE. I hate the way Steph gets no whistle. He's fouled multiple times on every play. I don't watch basketball to watch someone try to wriggle out of a bear hug. I kind of prefer a random midseason game in Charlotte where no one cares all that much and so the game of basketball is actually being played. The highs are a lot less high and the lows a lot less low... and maybe I'm old... but I think that's what I prefer.
I'm with you. I can't handle the stress anymore. But, the wins are fun, and this place is always fun (even when we lose, you can count on 2-3 deranged comments, which are great).
I guess that's what it boils down to for me. I'm not into the high stakes. I don't find it entertaining. I don't want to be biting my nails. I don't want to be feeling frustration that tingles in my arms because the refs are ruining the game. I want to have fun and be entertained and for me high stakes playoff wrestling matches are not entertaining in the slightest.
Agreed about the high stakes but Mikayla is right about the bear hugs and wrestling matches in the NBA, which we see during the regular season to some extent but especially in playoff series like this one. If the refs started calling fouls according to the rules, the extreme holding, hooking, and wrestling would stop and we could watch NBA basketball instead of Wrestlemania. While they're at it, they could call more of the egregious travels as well.
I think it's a combination of things, but if you compare what I tried to watch last night to basically any March Madness tournament game, the entertainment value for me is much higher for the tournament game. I like watching basketball. That's actually why I tune in to a basketball game.
He allowed Jalen Green to get past him for a layup on defense. Then on the other end of the floor, he pump faked multiple times with his back turned towards the basket with Eason guarding him and lost the ball on the way up.
In this same clip, the announcer mentioned that Steph had already run a little over two miles in the game. This was with one more quarter to go. What Steph has to go thru to get free from the grabbing/hugging/pushing and to run around for a wee bit of space is exhausting and exhilarating (especially when he makes a difficult shot).
I have a question: Why does JK seem to have the ball in his hands so much? He should be finishing, not initiating. Does he still not get that if he doesn't have anything he should pass and then cut and they will find him again or os that by design? If by design it's weird because he doesn't handle all that well.
If he just tried to emulate everything GP2 does (screen, cut, dunk, finish, defend) but in a 6-8 body, he’d be a so much more valuable player than he is right now, imo. It’s all the wannabe Kobe stuff he adds to what GP2 does that typically makes him a negative on the floor. Yes, shot creation has value, but not when you do it as inefficiently as he does.
Stick to the GP2 stuff and try to add/refine the Kobe stuff in his mid 20s, during offseasons and in regular season games that don’t matter as much.
I agree, GP2 is a good model. But JK should forget trying to be Kobe. A generation of players idolized Kobe, just as the previous generation idolized MJ, and youngsters now look to Steph. But very few can pull it off, and the rest should look for more appropriate stars to model themselves after. Kobe had a very high BBIQ, his father played in the league, and he grew up playing the game and watching the best. JK will never be that player. It's the wrong model.
Yeah, but the coaches don't think that. Seems like they would try to use his strengths (and he does have some). So are they not or is he not doing it right?
And one more thing: the play where Green was fouled that got overturned on review. It's absolutely clear that Amen's left knee/thigh trip Dray BEFORE he reaches out to poke the ball. Why they didn't consider that aspect of the play is ridiculous. They messed up that one.
Challenges should go away, but they should actually use the replay center to quickly overturn bad out of bounds and missed goaltends, things like that. You can have those corrected in a matter of seconds when it was an obvious blown call, and that's the only thing that should happen - anything that takes minutes to review and still isn't clear is totally not worth the cost
On the third video, watch how Podz distracted Thompson for a second, giving Steph enough space for a three. Podz does the little things that have made him an effective player.

Note that these records do not show the 135 points Curry has scored in 4 play-in games: https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/pts_career_c.html
If the Warriorsare going to win their next 14 straight, he’s going to have to score over 30 points per game to get there this season.
And?
Pistons doing something…
Career leaders in playoff 3 point percentage: https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/fg3_pct_career_p.html
Curry is now 20th all-time in career playoff assists: https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/ast_career_p.html
Curry needs 3 more assists to pass Kevin Johnson and 5 more to pass Bob Cousy to move up to 18th.
Draymond needs 6 to pass Isaiah Thomas for 15th all-time.
*Isiah, right?
Ai stand corrected.

I try to keep up my quota :)
Sometimes, I let those deranged comments get to me. I need to learn to disengage from instant reactions and avoid making deranged comments myself.
Could it also be that now that every game counts you are feeling the anxiety of every game being a must win?
No matter the style of the game, the playoffs give us fans way bigger highs and lows.
I hear you, but I’m all about the high stakes. It’s a mess for everyone, but when you have Steph on your team, it’s legendary time.

Warriors and Lakers have scored exactly the same amount of points in the first three games of the series.
Game 1: Warriors win 95-85; Lakers lose 95-117. Road team won both games.
Game 2: Warriors lose 94-109; Lakers win 94-85. Home team won both games.
Game 3: Warriors win 104-93; Lakers lose 104-116. Home team won both games.
The difference is that the Warriors are up 2-1 in the series while the Lakers are down 1-2 in the series.
Very eerie. So, if the Lakers lose today, it means we win tomorrow?
Yes. But if they lose today, it also means that.
But if the Lakers win today, we just need to make sure that we do not score the same points as them tomorrow.
That’s how science works
And also, how astrology works...
Superstar Jokic is so laid back and funny. I love it. Watch the interview clip on the winning dunk yesterday.

All the rookies to have over 12 rebounds and 4 assists in a game in NBA playoff history, sorted by fewest turnovers: https://stathead.com/tiny/VLltK
That's some pretty nice company to be in for a lot of that list.
How many of those guys were elite 40%+ three point shooters on over 9 attempts per 36?
Well, Mitch Richmond, Larry Bird, and Chuck Person are all on the list.
I think this sequence was the reason why Kuminga didn't play in the 4th Q: https://old.reddit.com/r/warriors/comments/1k908ig/this_is_what_jks_offense_and_defense_usually_look/

More like the last straw.

Does JK seem coachable?
4 years in, I think we have the answer: sometimes.
Yeah, what I was saying a couple years ago. Try to be Aaron Gordon of his first year with the Nuggets. Grow from there.
I was so into JK and he’s just pissed me off too much at this point
He sucks and thinks he’s Kobe Bryant.
Yeah, but the coaches don't think that. Seems like they would try to use his strengths (and he does have some). So are they not or is he not doing it right?
He's the one out on the floor after 4 years of training.
At some point you just have to call a duck a duck and in this case move on.
I don’t think he’s listening, which is why extraordinary circumstances have to be in play for him to get minutes.
Post was incredible. Inspirational performance by the 52nd pick.

Got overturned because, you know, it’s Green. His reputation, unfortunately, has colored many a calls.
They seem to disregard actions by the feet/lower body a lot.
I have come to the conclusion review does as much harm as good and it should go away. Which is surprising to me but here we are.

Fouled before and after the steal, so dumb they overturned it
