I think I've figured it out. Bear with me, is this right?
If the Clippers beat Portland and the Warriors beat Portland, and New Orleans vs. Minnesota doesn't end in a tie, then the Warriors will win the championship if they can just get their shit together.
If the Lakers and Clippers both win out and Minnesota and New Orleans both lose their last game, then the Warriors just need Wiggins to come back 80% of his usual self to take home another trophy.
If Portland somehow beats the Clippers and the Warriors, then the Warriors will need to beat good teams on the road in the playoffs, which they can do if they stop turning the damned ball over.
So is there any scenario where one of the dubs/pels/lakers/clips intentionally lose one of their last games to avoid 5th? Or bc everything is so tight and the games on Sunday are simultaneous do we all have to try and win to avoid play in?
I mean if Wiggins is a full go I don't see why the Warriors should fear the Suns. The Warriors should win because another week to get Wiggins up to speed is what is most important.
But if I'm the Clippers, I think I'd try to get a different matchup if it were possible given the George injury.
I think the Clippers can lose the final game and retain the 6th seed by tiebreakers with LAL and NOP. So I think Clips are in the drivers seat. My guess is we are looking at 5 and PHO. Put on your seat belt.
I’ve read this on multiple sites as well. Seems like clippers would need the Pelicans to lose for them to land in the 6th seed by going 1-1. Otherwise Clips are pushed to 7th. And since they play at the same time on Sunday, this would seem like a dangerous strategy. Clips probably should just play to win both games and secure the 5th seed to give PG more time to ramp up. And they have that history of losing in the play-in…
I still don’t know who this team is. They really look like the Warriors, except the part about playing bad so often. Will they flip the magical switch in the post season, throw back the curtain, take off the glasses, pull open the shirt and reveal their true superhuman selves?
The organization gave the core a crumb of a veteran who fits the system with GP2 and they are 7-2 in their last 9 games. Once Wiggins gets back and healthy it's going to get scary for the rest of the Western Conference.
GP II revenge game coming up? No one on the Blazers scores the entire time he is playing. Like the Forest Whitaker character in Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Given how much better the Warrior training staff seems to be than the Blazer staff, I wonder if GP2 would have been ready to go at the start of the season had he stayed with the Warriors. He looks healthy.
The Warriors treated him like an injured person needing PT for recovery. The Blazers treated him like a part of their product that wouldn’t be producing unless he was on the court in front of fans.
I think a surgery was botched so perhaps his early season absence was inevitable, then again maybe the Warriors send him to a better surgeon? I dunno, don't really remember the situation.
Yeah, I'm just remembering how much more in pain GP2 looked playing for the Blazers vs now. I'm wondering if the Warriors just gave him more time to recover or changed his recovery routine or something
Poole games like tonight’s should factor into Kerr’s thinking about Playoff lineups. Until we get rolling we really can’t afford a loss that’s attributable to his cold shooting and lack of defense/rebounding.
And passing. So many possessions when he was on the floor were one or zero pass possessions. He’s making a big ask of his teammates to stand around on offense and cover for him on D. It’s somewhat Hardenesque.
He picked a good night to be awful since the Dubs still handled the Kings easily. Hope he got it out of his system and that he'll play well against the Blazers on Sunday.
Been a while since I had gripes about JP - he has been playing better and even appeared to be trying on D. Tonight was a regression, though. His D was lax, awkward, and ineffectual as his worst against not very good opposition. Fox would have put his butt on the bench pronto.
That said, he had some clutch drives/free throws when the Kings were threatening in the 3rd. The shooting line is terrible, but he still found one way to make a positive impact.
OK, another nuance to all this....
Who do you imagine the Sun's would rather play.....Clips or us?
If the Pels lose, and the Clips / Suns game is close enough to throw. I bet they do it if it mens they get the coveted 6 spot.
Look forward to the lowest scoring game in NBA history tomm if Suns wanna avoid GSW.
What is happening with JMG? PBJ and Quiñones got playing time.
Saving him for the playoffs!

Wondered briefly, also, then got a headache trying to think of the permutations.
It’s easier to just prepare to beat Phoenix. And I wouldn’t mind being able to root for both NorCal teams a little longer.

I think I stand corrected. I didn't know 3-way tiebreaker rule.

They have a history of losing at every level.
Well, except the conference and NBA finals. Since, you know, they’ve never gotten that far.
0-1 in WCF history. The losing precedent extends to WCF, just not all the way to the Warriors Invitational
Because the Warriors never invite them. EVER.
I liked the part where they won the game.
A fine tradition you are starting.
Looney aka "The Ground Bound Hound Of Rebound"

If they do, it might be because Wiggs comes back strong and pushes everyone back into their ideal positions. We've really missed that guy.
Dubs were consistent in this game. 12 TOs in the first half + 12 in the second.
It's always good consistently to be the best at something.
not always.
And 22 fouls

I don't know any other meaning for this word, so please bear with me if it can be any other meaning, sport teams, a historic character or whatsoever.
Our Looney looks like " the Chieftain Warrior" to me.
Robert Parish was the Chief. He has a bit of Robert Parish look to him.
He's like a bouncer.
He's got mob enforcer shoulders
No 18th technical for Dray tonight so he's got a great shot at picking it up at Portland without any serious consequences.
Have at it Draymond!! Curse out the ref!!
Preferably one that is out of the playoff rotation.
Mavs head coach Jason Kidd said that Mark Cuban and Nico Harrison told him to lose the game.
As if they usually win their games...
When do you think Kidd knew he's getting axed the second the season ends?
As soon as those words came out of his mouth.
Whoa...
Next Mavs coach will be _______________________
Steve Nash?
Possible - but I doubt it. Especially if Kyrie is still around. [Which he won't be.]
Sorry, I forgot the snark tag. You're right about Kyrie - he'll probably be putting up great numbers for the 0.500 Lakers next year.
The lakers keep the guys they have now, and add kyrie, and they might be top 4 in the west. But I’ll worry about that next year.
Do the Lakers have that much cap space? Kyrie is going to want a max, at least 4 years and maybe 5.
Good betters would have already known this.

Maybe we should have traded for Greg Oden and Sam Bowie...
I wonder what was different in how the Warriors treated GP2? Was this just literally the Blazers started playing him too early?

Warriors are fully behind modern sports medicine. Blazers & some other NBA teams, not so much.
Is Theodoric of York, Medieval Barber, still their head athletic trainer?
He has good leeches.
His step-son's third cousin.
