Prediction for tomorrow. Right at the deadline, Russ and Harden straight swap, because both Nets and Lakers panic and think anything is something. No picks, just swap the two. Plus some random salary filler if their salaries aren't close enough.
I hate Warriors losses, every single one of them. But tonight was fugly, so dull and annoying I stopped watching with about five minutes left and switched to the Olympics. Womenβs curling. Really. Watched the Americans beat Russia (not medal round stuff yet, prelims). Our shooters have ice in their veins, hitting some darn difficult shots. After 7 rounds (βendsβ) out of 10, the Russians resigned, they were so far behind. Damn, I wish NBA teams could resign after 3 quarters.
The only real long-term worries I have from this game were:
*The rebounding sans Draymond is starting to become an issue. Being #1 in DReb% was a big reason for our early success and a big reason for failing last year. No regression there is key.
*JK getting absolutely cooked. He hasn't really been rooked by any team. Until tonight. He was putrid on that end. I wouldn't say I am beyond this year long-term worried, but it may be a sign he can't play in the playoffs.
*JTA. :-(. He may have sealed his fate in this one. He could very easily be on the chopping block.
*I think Otto is not 100%. A 15 min restriction is quite hard to work around. Even when he had the best +/- on the team, he was very low minutes.
Off topic but kings trading haliburton for sabonis and the lakers completely destroying their championship roster just shows you that just because your a professional and make millions doesn't mean you know wtf you are doing at all
Would much rather see Jordan Bell be playing then jta at this point, dude was left wide open all game like he was looney or kuminga and was scared to shoot, garbage time comes around and he wants to take every 3, idk how hes from oakland and had the road to nba story that he had, yet has such wavering confidence
I switched over to the Lakers game by the end and boy oh boy was it incredible.
1. With about 2 minutes left (Blazers leading by 2), LeBron was leading a 2 on 1 fastbreak and turned it over. Simons hit a transition 3 to make it a 5 point game.
2. Bradley missed a 3, Simons had a TO.
3. THT came down the lane and barreled over his man. Offensive foul. 5 point game with 1 minute left.
4. Simons took one of the weirdest floaters you'll ever see with 10 seconds left on the shot clock. Brain dead play all around.
5. LeBron gets an easy layup in transition and bricks it.
6. DSJ comes away with the rebound and with 40 seconds left in a 5 pt game, attacks quickly in the paint against 4 Lakers defenders (no one in his team had even gotten to the 3pt line yet). Misses the shot with 32 seconds left on the shot-clock handing the Lakers a lifeline.
7. LeBron makes a layup or dunk (I forgot) in transition.
8. There's a 1-2 second difference in the shot clock and the Lakers have 1 timeout remaining. The Blazers have the ball and are leading by 3. Guess what they did? Justise Winslow (who cannot shoot to save his life) puts up a semi-contested 3 with 8 seconds left on the shot clock. Bricks it badly. So badly that it hits front rim and the Blazers get a lucky rebound. Simons ices the FTs to make it a 5pt game with 3-4 seconds left in the game.
9. LeBron has somehow contrived to never end a game with 27/7/7 despite averaging that for his career. He is on 27/7/7 with 3 seconds remaining but he makes a bullshit contested 3 at the buzzer to end up with 30 points to avoid the 27/7/7 statline.
It was a masterclass in awful by both teams. One of the funniest endings I've ever watched. Heartily recommend all of you check it out after that disasterclass by the Warriors.
When Portland let CJ go it was in part because Anfernee Simons is ballin'. He beat the Lakers tonight in crunch time and it starts to make sense to me. I don't know about what they got back, but it was a crowded backcourt.
We covered this before. The night life in SLC resulted in a tired, unfocussed squad. 'Nuff said. Where's the light?
So... I just found out that Gary Payton II has an older half brother (only five months older than him) named Gary Payton Jr.
Everything now makes more sense and less sense at the same time.
Totally missed this one and it's a week old! Reporter: "Is there anything you guys need at the trade deadline?" Klay: "Maybe a new washing machine." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjfXhtNjuT0&ab_channel=NBAShowNetwork
So, there are a lot of things to criticize, but Olympic figure skating has been quite satisfying to watch. Highly recommend that over this game.

I was waiting for a Steve Kerr clip board break this evening, or maybe a tech to get the lads going, but nothing. A bit disappointing, no passion.
I think we get it back going tomorrow night, but would have liked more fight tonight.

Bounce back against the Knicks please!
Bring on Buy Out season. May be tough to see a player go for sentimental reasons, but if we can improve do it and mail them the ring.
I think this is the first game the Warriors lost since Curry kicked a chair and since OPJ was in the starting lineup.
