Seems like the Warriors FO hopes that GPII will be healthy enough to either play in the playoffs or next season. They also seem to respect GPII's wish to get out of Portland and reunite with his former teammates in the Bay Area.
as well as GP2's acknowledgement that Celebrini and his staff is better than POR, and that maybe with better care, GP2 may improve better than he would otherwise.
“never took Toradol shots to be available for games during his time in Portland.”
So he took Toradol shots, but as part of his recovery plan so he could “Thug it out” and break scar tissue… then received Toradol orally to be available for games?

Kitten Update:
Ice Princess Molly [rescued last July after being "taken off to die" by her mother] finally melted toward the kittens this morning. She wanted nothing to do with her half-siblings for the first month but has been thawing toward them very gradually the past few weeks. This morning, all within a few minutes, she played with Bess and tussled with both Opie and Smokie ,,, and then Opie again. And I smiled. Knew it was coming since she started playing with their tails a couple of weeks ago.
I never knew Molly existed until I was outside talking to my nephew one morning & we heard a kitten in the pasture crying. The crying kept getting louder & eventually the kitten emerged and came towards us, then ran away. After my nephew left, I walked towards where she had ended up, talking softly. She started walking toward me and started purring when she got close and let me pick her up. Sweet little thing was crawling with ticks. I took off about 20 before we headed to the vet & they found a dozen more. She was such a loving little girl. And she's starting to get back to that again now. There was also a fourth kitten in that litter that mama took off somewhere, never to be seen again. So a bit of a miracle that Molly survived, because I had never seen her until that morning in the pasture at about 6 weeks old.
So his agent was telling the truth - but just by a technicality. I had a strong feeling that was why he said what he did, but it wasn't the full truth.
I’m sure there’s a pretty big difference between a medical situation for a doc to recommend someone receive a drug orally vs by injection tho… agent does has their own reputation to protect here.
Maybe, but it looks like it’s still a negligent thing to omit from the medical reports.
I’m guessing from the medical staff point of view it’s a bit more nuanced than them shooting up an old horse with drugs and letting it work itself to death. Apparently, this kind of surgery recovery usually involves pain and pushing through it, and it’s a medical judgment about how to deal with the pain and how much is too much
Oh absolutely! Definitely should have been disclosed regardless. Maybe Portland training staff thinks “oral anti inflammatory medication” was sufficient and the warriors staff doesn’t?
At this point, that's the only recourse... can't just cancel it and go with a different trade that effects so many other teams. And the offense isn't going to be worth a first rounder (and Portland has conditionally traded theirs for the next 5 years anyways)
They can totally cancel it. The Dubs aren’t going to trade Wiseman for a perma-broken GP2 and hope for a 2nd round pick at some arbitrary future date. If what they want is a salary dump, then they’ll trade Wiseman this summer for spare parts.
Well, yeah… if GP2 is indeed permanent-broken. But that’s the extreme scenario. There’s a bunch of other scenarios that now lean to just taking the trade, where if the info was available before the deadline, they could have done other things like trade for OG instead…
Canceling makes a mess for everybody. We get Wiseman back, whom we don't want anymore and he knows it. We stand to save millions that we'd lose if we cancel. Atlanta and Detroit get screwed for no fault of theirs. Knox and Bey would go back to teams that didn't want them. That's bad ju-ju all around. A moderately protected first rounder (non-lottery) would make us whole and serve as a smack upside the Blazers' heads for pulling this deception.
We would never get a first rounder. We'll probably get Portland's first available unencumbered second round pick after a decision is made to punish Portland (which could be 2 years from now), and that's about right. If they were lying (not clear yet), it was about GPII, not Nikola Jokic.
A lie of omission is still a lie, no? The W's negotiated draft compensation under circumstances where they (presumably, given the reporting) didn't know GP2 needed hella NSAIDs to play. I'm guessing they asked how healthy GP2 actually was given he was visibly grimacing when playing and were told he was able to manage it, but weren't told that his management meant toradol. So I don't think this is a useful distinction.
Pelicans All-Star Zion Williamson – sidelined since Jan. 2 with hamstring strain – re-aggravated the injury and is expected to miss additional weeks after All-Star break, David Griffin says.
I get the feeling after watching Dray$’s joviality after last night’s really ugly nationally televised loss that if this current iteration of the Warriors fails to make the playoffs or is quickly dispatched in the 1st Round he is moving on.
If Dray doesn't stay on the team, I really question Steph's future here... I expect that the team hasn't offered him a contract he wants, and they're letting him test the FA waters with the intent to match/exceed the best offer he can get. And I expect Steph is fully in the discussion.
I question whether the Warriors can continue to allow concerns re Curry to force them into paying Dray & Klay premiums over their market value. Those two will make $70 mm combined next year, and those numbers will be subject to huge taxes because they've had 7-8 years now on maxish contracts, yet they can't combine to make the Warriors a playoff team.
All of that said, I'd give Dray and Klay extensions through '26 to line up their contracts with Curry's.
In that scenario a lot of things are getting blown up IMO. I don't think Lacob will be willing to continue the 6-7x repeater tax if he doesn't feel the team is a contender.
Which is why I'm not convinced they're going to let the GP2 trade go through. They probably will (GP2 sitting with Lacob last night wasn't an aberration), but losing Dray AND Wiseman (mainly their salary slots) are not ideal. No Dray = no championship hopes, so then you can play Wiseman a full season and let the chips fall where they may.
I don't want to lose Draymond but if he leaves, the Dubs are not going to tank as long as Steph is here. And losing that salary slot would go a long way toward giving the FO some financial flexibility.
Also, we've come to feel like anything short of a title is a failure but if we lose Draymond and still play competitively, make the playoffs, and get to the conference semis (2nd round), that would be a good season. It's possible. Utah unloaded Gobert and Mitchell, and they're 1.5 games out of the 7th seed with four beatable teams ahead of them (us, the Pels, OKC, and the Wolves). One good run could get them there.
Oh agreed. Next season will be first stages of a rebuild barring some really unique signings to complement Curry, Wiggs, Loon and Klay for a season or two.
If we tank/rebuild, it's really now or never. Memphis gets our pick next year (unless it's 1-4), and it's top 1 protected in 2025, unprotected in 2026.
Wow, I forgot about that. That was a steep price to unload Iguodala to Memphis. Now I kind of understand better why Lacob was hell bent on trying to develop the young guys
Didn't realize the party was still in this thread. Felt it was strangely quiet in the newer comment section.
Still pretty quiet here, too.
Totally forgot there was a big event today... probably should've done grocery shopping today instead of yesterday...
Ha, just got back from grocery shopping after taking the dogs to the park.
Should I watch that olive-shaped ball tossing game that everyone's talking about?
Is this statement based on something beyond football being the circus in our "bread-and-circus" empire?
Didn't know this either. Just turned my stream off.
Ah, okay thanks. I thought this was a thing like the fact the Magic are owned by the DeVos'. Your point is also fair for not watching
Woj says trade is on track to be completed today.

Yeah… if he kept playing on it, full recovery will certainly be extended…
Stealth tank this year, champs next year? I could deal with that. Or a title this year too haha.
I wonder what the league has done... maybe something along the lines of punishment/compensation based on Payton's availability...
Yep…
Hope it is and hope everyone involved does well in their new locations.
I'm going on record as a YES
Jalen Duren is a bust, they should cut him now and save time.
Again, for now, he's still just the Big Hypothetical
I'm still going with The Royal Etiquette for his polite demeanor
Somehow I never liked "Big Jim." "Big James" seemed okay. But he's gonna be "Big Piston" soon.
That’s for the xxx tape
"Big Jim" always made me think of a slave name. Did not like it.
Big Hypothetical Gym
Big structural James

Beverley officially waived.
Celtics beat the Grizzlies 119-109.
Again Patrick… only news that affects the play in!
Okay, this got me lol
I hate the calls Morant gets. Jump super high, come down twisting --> get a call.
Edit: also when his hair gets touched.

Additional info about Toradol given to GPII: it was given orally, not injected.

Still sucks that his medical info wasn't completely revealed during the negotiation process.
So his agent was telling the truth - but just by a technicality. I had a strong feeling that was why he said what he did, but it wasn't the full truth.
Haha “never took Toradol shots” said the agent…
If it’s true that GP2 had Toradol orally, then I’m going to count that agent as a liar
"I swear I didn't shoot the guy with my rifle!" (He used a revolver.)
I’m sure there’s a pretty big difference between a medical situation for a doc to recommend someone receive a drug orally vs by injection tho… agent does has their own reputation to protect here.

Wait, I thought Portland said nothing about him still being injured prior to the trade. Did I miss that?
Spin! Spin! Spin! It’s expected. Im enjoying reading the BE mental gymnastics on this one… lol
Said from the start that we were trying to get the deal sweetened.
A 2nd rounder is a 2nd rounder.
At this point, that's the only recourse... can't just cancel it and go with a different trade that effects so many other teams. And the offense isn't going to be worth a first rounder (and Portland has conditionally traded theirs for the next 5 years anyways)

You're probably right. Maybe not lying but withholding information, which isn't the same thing but has much the same effect.
A lie of omission is still a lie, no? The W's negotiated draft compensation under circumstances where they (presumably, given the reporting) didn't know GP2 needed hella NSAIDs to play. 40 and 20 incoming for Jalen Duren this afternoon
Only 1&2 so far! Jim’s spot is looking safer!
If Wise is successful, can we call him Duren's Bane?
Autolikes for LOTR's refs 👍🏽
Yeah for a team that will give him a chance.
(Okay, I know that's bitterness talking as we shut down the bar on Wiseman Island and prepare to turn the keys over to some jasper from Detroit.)

Zion.... 😢
Well,,, it helps the Dubs hopefully - but Zion seems like he's destined to always be out for some injury.
He reminds me of a pitcher who always breaks down because they generate so much torque that they basically rip their arm apart. It stinks, man.
Bummer.
I get the feeling after watching Dray$’s joviality after last night’s really ugly nationally televised loss that if this current iteration of the Warriors fails to make the playoffs or is quickly dispatched in the 1st Round he is moving on.
If the warriors get bounced first round draymond is not getting paid
If Dray doesn't stay on the team, I really question Steph's future here... I expect that the team hasn't offered him a contract he wants, and they're letting him test the FA waters with the intent to match/exceed the best offer he can get. And I expect Steph is fully in the discussion.

Hey, if the whole thing gets blown up Steph in Charlotte and Dray$ in Detroit would add cool chapters to both careers.
Someone will pay him. Someone always does.
What value does an old draymond have if he cant even get our roster past the first round
Portland will happily pay him what he would want. Dame has wanted Dray to be on Blazers for a long time.
Agree on your logic, just don’t see a whole lot of logic in many FA signings
In that scenario a lot of things are getting blown up IMO. I don't think Lacob will be willing to continue the 6-7x repeater tax if he doesn't feel the team is a contender.
