Post game thread: Close but no cigar - Warriors drop a close one in Dallas
Poor shooting, some late mistakes, and a strong Mavs showing were too much
The Golden State Warriors made some late mistakes, but still managed to hoist a very makeable Klay Thompson shot that would have forced overtime. That shot clanked out, like many of the Warriors’ attempts from deep tonight, and the Dallas Mavericks escaped with a close win at home.
Luka Doncic was the player that defined the game tonight. He put up a massive triple double: 41 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds. He took over early. He took over late. The second leading scorer on the Mavericks was Tim Hardaway jr., who came up big in the second half to finish with 22 points.
But like George Carlin predicted, this game all came down to the final minute. A semi questionable travelling call on Curry’s three point attempt (which would have given the team the lead) started the final cascade. He stepped on the three point line - just a hair over - but then got called for the travel when he may (or may not) have adjusted the pivot foot (which may or may not have been identified at this point).
Oops.
Ah well. Another loss, but a good one. The team played well. The rotations continue to clear up, and the team got some good contributions from the bench.
The Warriors are off for a couple of days before taking on the Chicago Bulls back home in San Francisco.

The Lakers are waiving wing shooter Matt Ryan, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Ryan impressed in stint with L.A., shooting 38.2 percent from 3, including a clutch shot in win over Pelicans in November. The move opens up a roster spot for Lakers ahead of Dec. 15 trade date.
