I thought he was trying for a Home Alone. Which, being more recent, is more trendy and new so it’s not really about rookie mistake, it’s about the generation gap
Awesome E1P indeed. Since you referred to 10 ms on the pass from Cp3 to Steph, it got me wondering if Steph is going to force the NBA to change its " minimum time to shoot from an inbound play is 0.3 seconds" rule. I saw in one of the earlier posts (possibly from SOL) that it was out of his hands in 0.4 seconds - thats just 100 ms off. I guess STEPH is going to break the NBA code-book again!
As I continue to educate myself on this "0.3 second" rule - The history is fun - it was called the Trent_Tucker rule, which originated in a disputed 3-point shot in a kniocks-bulls game in the 1990-91 saeason! I am sure Steph is going to force the NBA to relook at this!
Maybe. Or maybe you guys need to admit that basketball on radio is a silly idea. It’s a visual experience. I am into baseball on radio but basketball never
When GP2 returns I think we need to try starting Steph, Klay, Wiggins, GP2, and TJD. Not only would this be a pretty solid lineup, I am sure it would be the first time a team ever started 5 kids of former NBA players...
Yeah, was thinking how much better it is to have 3 days to enjoy making the other team blow a big lead as opposed to spending 4 days having to suffer after the Dubs blow a big lead.
Interesting how youth has dominated this year. Feels like a big transitional year. Last year felt a bit like that as well, but with the exception of Celts and Bucks, so many young teams seem to be overachieving this year.
Obviously the stakes weren't as high, and we were up one as opposed to down one, but, visually, this shot resembled the desperation three Steph missed in the waning seconds of the 2019 Finals. So there was a feeling of exorcism about it, on top of everything else. Just pure greatness, that guy.
All in all, one of the most enjoyable regular season wins I can remember.
We're currently sitting at 11th in the West but I think we're on the rise along with Memphis. Their hole might be too deep but I can see them going on a run to make the play in. Who will fall? Houston? New Orleans? Dallas?
We're only 4 games out of #4 seed, and only 5 games out of #2 seed. If we bank a bunch of these home wins, we'll be heading to Chicago at the top of the play in group and not far behind the HCA teams.
They have to actually execute, tho... just like every NBA team. The Warriors are good enough to beat Washington and Portland in the upcoming B2B, but they have to actually do it. The Suns, similarly, aren't going to be a top 6 seed unless they can beat teams like Portland in December, and the Spurs in November (twice!).
The Suns, when healthy, have a great top 3. But to Beli's point, they haven't been healthy... and the rest of their team is pretty below average. They haven't shown they can be consistently good, they've played one of the easiest schedules so far, they've got one of the hardest remaining schedules remaining, and they're only half a game over 0.500. It's easy to look at the prominent names on the back of the jerseys, but if it were that simple, the Warriors are easily a top 6 seed too.
Clippers are hot, some of that is gelling, some is from banking home games. But they won't be so hot all the rest of the year... There's 55 games left in the season, if we bank a bunch of home wins here, we'll be at the top of the play in (Pels only 2.5 games ahead of us at #7), and we'd be on a winning streak/gelling rotation ourselves.
As for the Suns, I've never been convinced of their depth. They'll be a beast in the playoffs (if healthy). They've played the easiest schedule in the NBA, with one of the toughest remaining, we'll pass them for sure.
It was waaaayyy more Wiggins. Looney isn't playing to his standard, and it does seem like he's off a bit (especially struggling offensively), but he's also been playing without Dray and being forced into helping in ways he really shouldn't be. And don't forget that Klay was in a funk for the first 15 games too on top of Wiggins Wisemanning, and Looney being off. Klay coming out of his funk, and Wiggins going to the bench have been solid improvements.
So much for the far and away best starting 5 of the last two years...
Yeah... I didn't enjoy that part of it either... but I'm also old, and my bet is that is the younger generation's language. And the cackle was GOLD. She's also generally great during the game, and I love the way she speaks and calls the game. Even Mr. BANG BANG himself has some duds.
You missed the context- they had been discussing what he was going to do this time, expecting him to meme the Celtics into oblivion. They had shown his various game-ender expressions/gesticulations earlier.
Just gotta let the shot speak for itself sometimes though, especially for a highlight reel shot like that. Say what you will about JVG and Jackson, but they knew to STFU here and let the play by play guy and the crowd do their thing:
"I don’t know what kind of dark magic was going on there, so I’m just going to assume the Celtics were paralyzed in fear. There is something about the Warriors that breaks these guys, and I don’t know if they’ve gotten over the 2022 Finals loss, given how their muscles tightened on every jump-push-and-hook shot down the stretch.
For a fan, no player approaches Curry’s raw presence or can replicate the way he inflicts fear upon opposing fans and players. In his hands, a basketball becomes a weapon of mass destruction, capable of ending a game single-handedly with a lighting strike of threes.
Plenty of modern players have attempted to reproduce a Curry-like offensive persona, such as prime James Harden and Damian Lillard. Those guys held a similar I-literally-don’t-care-about-your-defense shooting ability from beyond the arc, but neither has produced the body of work that Curry has.
He carries that reputation like an anaconda wrapped around his neck. Opponents are terrified to come too close for fear of getting their heads bitten off, and Curry capitalizes every time. Every. Freaking. Time."
In ~2 weeks, the Pacific Division will have 6 of the top 20 players in NBA Career 3PM (Steph, Harden, LeBron, Klay, George, Durant). Barring injury, by the end of the year, these guys will all be in the top 15. Just in one division.

I posted a video about Steph‘s night night shot.
Explain One Play: Steph Curry's sky-high night-night game winner over Celtics

I’ll put up a proper article some time later
Great stuff, Eric. Thanks! I particularly enjoyed your inimitable and singular ''night night'' analysis....
What about JK's 1 handed night-night celebration? That felt like a rookie mistake.
I thought he was trying for a Home Alone. Which, being more recent, is more trendy and new so it’s not really about rookie mistake, it’s about the generation gap

I feel heard.
Night night balance is so important.
(repost)
TR's call to go with that.
Starts 18 sec in
https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/12-19-23-warriors-post-up/id1097149525?i=1000639213309
Who is TR? Is this Warrior's radio?
Teddy Roosevelt
Who’s Tim Roye? Lack of identification sensation!
Yeah I don't know what that means.
sounds like a personal problem
One of his signature calls is when a player rises up for a big dunk: Elevation sensation!
He has mosdef used it on that player that Asher's warming up to...
You have some catching up to do...
We’ll have some catching up to do, just in different areas.
kind of crazy that a Warriors fan wouldn't know who Tim Roye is
Maybe. Or maybe you guys need to admit that basketball on radio is a silly idea. It’s a visual experience. I am into baseball on radio but basketball never
Yeah. Tim Roye
Most excellent as always good sir. So stoked to see the strength in numbers really show on that last play!

Injury report for the Kings vs. Celtics game tonight:
For the Kings, Alex Len is out. Malik Monk is questionable with a right foot irritation.
For the Celtics, Al Horford is out due to rest. Luke Kornet is out due to left adductor strain. And Jayson Tatum is out due to left ankle sprain.
And everybody else tired from an emotional OT loss... you're welcome Mike.
Looooollllll
I don't generally support Gimmick lineups but...
When GP2 returns I think we need to try starting Steph, Klay, Wiggins, GP2, and TJD. Not only would this be a pretty solid lineup, I am sure it would be the first time a team ever started 5 kids of former NBA players...
Yes, I’ve been posting about this obsessively since they drafted TJD.
A like for genealogy strength alone...
We are all waiting for this with bated breath. Wait, what kind of breath?
Just thought this was interesting....
Per-36 numbers 3P% FTA FT% TS% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS
Player 1 .317 6.1 .645 .60 6.3 1.6 1.1 0.5 2.2 4.1 20.8
Player 2 .263 5.7 .745 .60 7.1 5.3 0.9 0.2 2.5 2.2 22.0
Player 1 is JK
Player 2 is Pascal Siakam
Are those assist numbers the big difference?
Nice!
This one felt really, really good.
This double-double by TJD should be able to withstand all scorekeeper scrutiny.
Note to Eric: you misspelled "ceiling" in the headline

Haven’t looked at the standings since we were 6-2. I had such high hopes for a top 3 seed
We're only 4 games out of #4 seed, and only 5 games out of #2 seed. If we bank a bunch of these home wins, we'll be heading to Chicago at the top of the play in group and not far behind the HCA teams.
https://www.nba.com/standings
There are teams ahead of us who are/were also playing bad to what they should be though like suns/clips
Are we sure the Suns are good?
I think they’re good enough to have a top 6 or so regular season record
They have to actually execute, tho... just like every NBA team. The Warriors are good enough to beat Washington and Portland in the upcoming B2B, but they have to actually do it. The Suns, similarly, aren't going to be a top 6 seed unless they can beat teams like Portland in December, and the Spurs in November (twice!).

Could be, yeah. They have injury concerns just like the Warriors though, and also not nearly as much depth.
I think the Warriors are likely a play-in team though at this point unless they can really take advantage of these upcoming home games.

Hmmm, Dray is gone a few days, the rooks start playing, and is that JOY that has entered the building (and Steph's game-wrecking DNA) again???
Let's be honest, the Draymond thing was coincidental, the real catalyst has been benching Wiggins who was Wisemanning the team.
It wasn't just Wiggins. I think it was Wiggins + Looney. Having 2 players who were bringing almost nothing on offense was not working.
It was waaaayyy more Wiggins. Looney isn't playing to his standard, and it does seem like he's off a bit (especially struggling offensively), but he's also been playing without Dray and being forced into helping in ways he really shouldn't be. There was plenty of joy when we thought we were winning the OKC games and others. Losing at the last second is deflating.
One of my favorite parts of Steph's game sealing shot was Candice Parker cackling. She's awesome on the call.
Man I hated that call actually. "Oh there's the meme" felt like it cheapened the moment.
I specifically liked the cackle! Agree the rest was clunky.
She's better than many color analysts.
Yeah, I was surprised how much I enjoyed her on the broadcast, because I've mostly rooted against her on the court. But she's really good.
He saying “there’s the meme!” After that nutty dagger and the go sleep pose was a pretty lame call tbh
Yeah... I didn't enjoy that part of it either... but I'm also old, and my bet is that is the younger generation's language. And the cackle was GOLD. She's also generally great during the game, and I love the way she speaks and calls the game. Even Mr. BANG BANG himself has some duds.
That was an older person thinking they’re using the younger generations language lol. It was not it.
Stemmed for them going over Steph’s celebrations and calling them memes earlier on which made no sense
You missed the context- they had been discussing what he was going to do this time, expecting him to meme the Celtics into oblivion. They had shown his various game-ender expressions/gesticulations earlier.

Parker's a rookie though I think, she'll get better.

Just a taste:
"I don’t know what kind of dark magic was going on there, so I’m just going to assume the Celtics were paralyzed in fear. I’m Steph Curry and this is my andaconda
LOL, nice.
I'll take all of that, with seconds.
Delicious...
The whole thing is awesome.
Yes, I was referring to the whole thing.
As an aside, I love celticsblog. It goes against my general hold-the-nose attitude toward Boston sports fans.
In ~2 weeks, the Pacific Division will have 6 of the top 20 players in NBA Career 3PM (Steph, Harden, LeBron, Klay, George, Durant). Barring injury, by the end of the year, these guys will all be in the top 15. Just in one division.
Wild
Kawhi over his last ten games is averaging 29 points on 63/57/90 splits with a 74% TS. I still fear him more than any other player in the NBA (if he can stay healthy in the playoffs).
That's a really big "If" though.
He goes through cold streaks like other players. When he’s shooting this efficiently he’s a beast.
Kawhi is one of the only 20+ PPG playoff scorers with a higher TS% than Curry (AD is the other).
Those years of injuries made me forget what an insanely dominant player he can be. Hopefully Harden will lose his mind again and derail the Clippers.
I think Harden's been humbled a bit by his time in BKN & PHI... and he's better for it
Harden was fine in Brooklyn. His leg was just shot by the end of it
